You Nigerians can learn alot from other African countries once you shed that unhelpful "Giant of Africa " tag. We Kenyans have a very comprehensive database of people and i have personally never met any adult (18+) Kenyan without a national ID. It is impossible to conduct any business without one where identity is required. Its the first thing a secondary school leaver does upon finishing school (nowadays its while you're still at school). You cant open a bank account, get admission into a university, seek govt services etc without one.

ID has become rocket science here. How much does it cost to type name into data base and print plastic photo with ink?

The problem isn't cost, but the political consequences of having fraud-resistant population identification. Such schemes would automatically reveal the true population figures for the various states and LGAs, making it harder to plausibly rig elections, and also getting in the way of scrambling for a larger portion of federal allocations. Nigeria will never have a reliable ID card system as long as these two things remain the case.

Awe very true. It would also see give real population figures that can't be fudged. The whotel illegal immigration into Nigeria is concerning. We have pretty porous borders with Niger, Cameroon, and Benin. They move undocumented learn pigeon and boom your a Nigerian.
