Nice write up ... But don't study medicine if you want to be rich, majority of Doctors practising in Nigeria are not that rich. |

MED school was fun!!! Caveat: if you were willing to sacrifice sleep, pleasure and social outings! But that is just the beginning of the hussle: residency is stress personified. God bless all doctors. 5 Likes |

wow...op...so true...every single point. I can relate. but u missed out on one thing or maybe I'm the only one experiencing it. I see a person with an illness on the street and I'm already asking myself: congenital or aquired, chronic or acute, differentials, management etc...it's fun but the fun part is applying the knowledge not studying to get it... 4 Likes |

Re: What Every Nigerian Medical Student Must Experience In Medical School. by HyDef(m): 6:21pm On Jan 27, 2017 |
peacesamuel94: I think it depends on everyone personally, but it's not really my interest. I was nudged a bit aggressively by my parents into this course, based on my good performance in school, you know Nigerian parents na, if you're smart, it's either lawyer, doctor, or engineer. I loved biology, and I thought medicine would be nice, but I really had no prior interest, I just kind of went with it. But it's very very very stressful. Sometimes you look at people in other courses, chilling, relaxing, while you have to hit the books for the 3rd time in a day. It gets frustrating especially as exams begin to approach. You'll either be stuck in your room or library for hours and hours reading. And the SRs and consultants don't exactly make anything better with the way the lower ones are treated, plus the whole system is not efficient. It doesn't end with school. I've always loved computers. Since I was a kid. My dad is a systems engineer, so I was brought up with these things, and nowadays I code. I guess if I had really thought about it, I could have made a better choice. 4 Likes 1 Share |
