Its actually you i pity. because ignorance has ravaged your brain to the point of death. Not just the south west. The entire south, and parts of the north central (so called "middle belt" should resolve on what stand to take.
Herdsmen and their sponsors actually believe that their cattle is superior to human life. So, first all, it will be a great move to boycott the purchase of beef and its products. Enforce this for several weeks, and their business will suffer a terrible setback.

No need to take up arms at this stage. This is the era of intelligence. That boycott will speak louder than any gun can. Once nobody is interested in their cow and beef, and the south seeks for alternative sources of meat, fish and poultry products, the Fulani cattle business goes downhill.

The stupid thing about the south is that they have not learnt to speak with one voice. They are the major market for the Fulani cow meat. Cut the demand, and watch their business die a natural death.
They can then take their cows to their kinsmen in Chad, Niger and Mali afterwards.
