Former Aide to Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri has mocked President Buhari and his Lawyer, saying PMB calls his "bribe" a "gift".

According to him, President Muhammadu Buhari believes in "transformation Agenda".. Recall that the Ex-President Jonathan had a "Transformation agenda" during his tenure.

He said "So if I take bribe and call it gift, according to @FemAdesina, it transforms from bribe to 'gift'? So PMB believes in Transformation Agenda!"

President @MBuhari and his lawyer have shown us the way. Call your corruption 'gift' & EFCC will look the other way. All hail PMB & Awodein!

If you're PDP, your gift is defined as bribe, but if you're PMB's lawyer, your bribe is defined as gift. Welcome to the new improved Nigeria

Everybody gives gifts but some gifts are more equal than others. For tips on giving EFCC approved gifts, see President @MBuhari's lawyer!

The DEODORANT has been sprayed on Lawyer Awodein and the INSECTICIDE is being sprayed on Justice Ademola. Now I understand @shehusani well!

If you will like a GIFT retweet this. If you would prefer a BRIBE, fave this. If you don't know the difference, contact @MBuhari's lawyer!

He added; "RIDDLE: What do Arik and PMB have in common?"

ANSWER: They are both prone to frequent postponement/cancellation of flights back to Nigeria

why will any SAN risk is reputation over #500k ?? mayb recession
A whole president of nigeria involved in corruption case of #500k is rather insulting when our politicians av move to million dollars embezzlement ..
with d level of our corruption calling 500k from d presidency to SAN a bribe is an overstatement lets jus call it a gift, inappropriate tho.

It is not conceivable that a learned, experienced SAN would be oblivious to the glaring ethical implications of GIFTING a judge presiding over an important case of which is he, the SAN, is the defending counsel.

Even the stupidest, the most ignorant layperson would understand that a Senior Advocate, one who is assumed to know and be the champion of legal ethics, should not under any circumstances, have outside courtroom contacts, talkless of giving a GIFT, even if a Penny, to a judge presiding over a case, a very politically important case of great national significance, of which the Senior lawyer is the defending lawyer.

No layperson could make such a thoughtless, monumental error, talkless of a legal luminary representing a presidential candidate, unless the senior lawyer knew exactly the nature and envisaged reward for the GIFT giving .

This!!!....... End of!!!

I have been waiting for someone to make this point.

That's why it's better to have your loyalty to the state than on a single individual. If not you might go totally insane trying to defend him.

I think Lawal Daura and Malami the Justice minister should be sacked. These guys have brought nothing but ridicule to the President. During the course of the investigation into Ademola's case, the DSS admitted discovering that Buhari's lawyer was close to Ademola and even gave him a N500,000 gift for his daughters wedding (which is verifiable and correct), a gift that wasn't in any way connected to Buhari or his case, the prosecution should have dropped that line of argument immediately.
Ademola's defence brought that matter up because the entire case is predicated on the fact that Agi, another close friend of Ademola paid Ademola for judicial favours which Ademola is claiming were gifts from a friend. Instead of pursuing that argument further, they should have dropped it promptly and probably tried to get Ademola on the weapons possession charge.
This is a lesson to everyone, especially lawyers. We must learn to clearly distinguish our professional lives from our personal lives. While it is true that Awodehin and Ademola are childhood friends and the money was indeed a donation from the lawyer for Ademola's daughters wedding, it was very unprofessional for the lawyer to make that donation at the same time he had a case before the judge. After all that was one of the reasons the NJC sited for removing the chief judge of Enugu who accepted donations from Prince Arthur Eze during a book launch while he had a case pending before his court.

This too!!!

Leadership places demands of responsibility and sacrifice. Part of that sacrifice is in recusing oneself from actions that lead to conflict of interest. In Nigeria, leaders are Lords of the manor. They excuse their right to be held to higher moral standards by maintaining a hypocritical high horse of being above all and hence infallible. And the diehard followers of these narcissistic foolish leaders refuse to differentiate civic duties of loyal followership from sheepish idolatry. It's a shame.

This is where you prove that you have a bias - which is best known to only you, except you are ignorant of the facts - if you read the sworn testimony of Babatunde Adepoju, the DSS operative that testified about the gift allegedly sent from Buhari's Lawyer said it was sent with a letter from the lawyers to the judge........

Buhari's case fit the profile of the case of others before the court so they want to set Ademola free so that Buhari will not be implicated through his lawyers. You no even know anything whey dey happen, you just dey talk. Meanwhile Ricky Tarfa has the same case in another court but EFCC and DSS are blowing hot. Read the excerpts of the case as culled from thisday newspapers

"The witness, Babatunde Adepoju, who is an operative of the Department of State Security Service (DSS), also admitted that the N30 million transferred by Agi to the account of Mrs. Olabowale Ademola, the wife of Justice Ademola, could not be described as a bribe.

Both Agi and Mrs. Ademola are jointly being tried alongside the judge.

Adepoju said that Agi told him during investigation that one of the lawyers in the team that defended the suit seeking to prove that Buhari did not have the basic qualification to aspire to the Office of the President, Mr. Kola Awodein (SAN) gave N500,000 to the judge as a gift during his daughter’s wedding.

The witness, however, held the view that the gift of N500,000 could not be described as a bribe.

In addition, the witness admitted that there was no petition from anybody that the monies recovered from Justice Ademola’s house were the proceeds of crime or bribe.

The federal government is prosecuting Ademola, his wife and his family lawyer, Agi, for alleged gratification.

The federal government, after calling 19 witnesses, closed its case yesterday.

The defendants have however applied to the court to file a no case submission.

A no case submission is an application filed by a defendant in which he intends to show the court that the prosecution has not established a prima facie case against him.

The court adjourned till March 15 to hear the no case submission.

In the 16-count charge, the prosecution alleged that Agi transferred the sum of N30 million in three tranches of N10 million each into the account of Olabowale and alleged that the money was gratification, an allegation the defendants have denied.

The witness, Adepoju had earlier told the court that he investigated the alleged offences levelled against the defendants.

In his statement to the DSS, Agi had said that the said money was a gift from Ken Hubert and Bassey Bassey who are friends of Justice Ademola for the wedding of his daughter.

At the resumed trial yesterday, while being cross-examined, Adepoju admitted that it was customary in Nigeria that friends and well wishers shower gifts on anyone planning a wedding.

Adepoju, in his evidence, had informed the court that he took the statement of Agi on December 23, 2016.

Based on that, he was asked under cross-examination whether Agi told him that the gift of N30 million from Ken Hubert and Bassey was a gift to the judge for the wedding of his daughter and the witness answered “yes”.

The witness was also asked whether Agi told him that it was not only Hubert and Bassey that gave a gift to the judge but that Buhari’s lawyer, Kola Awodein (SAN), also passed a gift of N500,000 to the judge. The witness also answered “yes”.

He was further asked whether Agi had told him that the N500,000 gift was given to the judge by Awodein during the pendency of Buhari’s certificate suit before Justice Ademola. He admitted that he was told so.

Adepoju was then asked whether as an investigator, he investigated the assertion that the said gift was given during the pendency of the suit.

He however answered that he did not investigate.

It was at this point that the defence team tendered the court papers of a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/01/2015 dated February 9, 2015, wherein Chukwuwinke Okafor sued General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) over his qualification to run for the Office of the President.

Adepoju was then asked to read out the name of the third counsel defending Buhari in the matter. The witness read out the name of “Kola Awodein”.

The court in turn admitted the papers in evidence.

The witness was then asked whether it was right to say that Buhari had bribed Ademola on the basis that his lawyer gave the judge a gift of N500,000 for his daughter’s wedding. The witness answered “no”.

Adepoju was further asked whether it could be said that Agi bribed Ademola with the said N30 million when such gift passed through him (Agi) for the judge’s daughter’s wedding. The witness also answered “no”.

https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2017/02/22/dss-witness-reveals-buharis-lawyer-offered-justice-ademola-n500000-as-gift/

In summary, they arrested someone for sending #30 Million Naira bribe through the wife, that one opens up and says that I only sent a gift no bribe after all, Buhari's Lawyer too sent the same thing; why am I the only one here?

Agi, who is a lawyer sent his own through the wife, Buhari sent his own through lawyer because the circumstances are similar. If the case is pursued further, even of they escape conviction, a case may be established against them by NJC/NBA.

The same FG that took them to court, is now deliberately weakening it's deposition to suit a no case submission to avoid roping in Buhari in the process.

Wasn't it the same DSS that cried to the media that they received petitions from some specific individuals about Ademola and Co. Now they are saying there was no allegation of Bribery all of a sudden.........

Why is the same DSS, that effected an arrest/investigation for prosecution giving testimony in favour of whom they arrested?

DOES THAT MAKE ANY SENSE TO YOU AT ALL.........

But why......... undecided

I guess you didn't read in detail what I posted there or you didn't understand it, let me explain.

The #30 Million was sent in a pool from different sources, Buhari's lawyer share of the pool was #500,000. Buhari's Lawyer didn't deny the money but insists that it was a personal wedding gift to the judge and it doesn't concern Buhari.

Agi and Justice Ademola and his wife are standing trial. Agi was responsible for transferring the cash to Justice Ademola's wife in 3 tranches of #10million each.

When Agi was arrested, according to the DSS operative (obviously he was asked where the money came from) he mentioned the different sources the #30 Million came from including Buhari's Lawyer and letters were presented to back that information.

What the DSS guy is now claiming is that he is not aware and he didn't know because he didn't investigate whether Buhari's Lawyer had a case before Justice Ademola.

He is claiming that it is not a bribe but a gift for two major reasons.

One is that there is no petition against Justice Ademola before the DSS.

Two, there is a letter backing up the transfer of the case as wedding gift. After all Agi and Awodein are both friends of the judge.

The letter were tendered as exhibits in court.

The grand question is this, why did you arrest and recommend Justice Ademola, his wife and Agi for receiving bribe of #30 Million through his wife, when there no petition before you about him demanding bribe??

One would have expected that since you arrested Agi for sending and Mrs Ademola and his wife for receiving; every person would have been arrested for contributing the bribe money.

Every person except..................Buhari's lawyer

It was not until Buhari's lawyer was seen on the list of contributors before DSS backed off from the case.......

The problem I guess is with Buharis lawyer, can you prove Buharis involvement, as implied by your previous quote or as reno claims.
