Were The Early Christians Roman Catholics? by DoctorAlien(m): 8:27pm On Apr 20, 2017 |
The Roman Catholic Church claims that the early Christians were all Roman Catholics, and that (aside from the Orthodox Church) all Christians were Roman Catholics until the Protestant Reformation. It claims that the Apostle Peter was the first Pope, ruling from Rome. It also claims that it gave us the Bible. But do these claims stand up to the test of history? Or are they false credentials? There is historical evidence that the Roman Catholic Church began with Emperor Constantine. Many Protestants believe that throughout Church history, there have been many true Christians who were not Catholics, and these Christians were often killed by the Catholic Church. They also believe that Peter was just one of the apostles, and that the Catholic Church only copied and preserved the Bible, which God had already given to us. DoctorAlien: Your link takes its lies from Mary Ann Collins. One who is said to be an ex-nun, but never existed. When anti-Catholic protestants have to manufacture a non-existent ex-nun, to manufacture lies to disprove the Catholic Church, you should know they are being led by a spirit other than the Holy Spirit. Have you ever seen the Catholic Church manufacturing a pentecostal pastor, to manufacture a lie about pentecostalism? Why is it always protestants telling outright lies against Catholicism? 10 Likes 3 Shares |

was Jesus a Catholic or protestant? |
Re: Were The Early Christians Roman Catholics? by italo: 8:50am On Apr 21, 2017 |
oladoja1: Jesus established the Catholic Church in 33AD. Martin Luther established protestantism 1500 years later. So, in a sense, Jesus is Catholic. 4 Likes |

The op betrays an ignorance of the history of Christianity. The Catholic Church never claimed that all early christians were Catholics. In fact history tells us that there were many many different types of Christianity in the first century. A lot of these the Catholic Church claims were heresies. However the version of Christianity that won out over the others was the orthodox Christianity of the Roman Catholic Church. No protestant can make the claim of antiquity that the Catholic Church has unless they claim to hark back to heresy. 5 Likes |

italo: You see! While the Holy Spirit fell on the disciples on Pentecost Day in AD 31, marking the official beginning of the New Testament Church, your own Catholic church was established in AD 33. Obviously, the Church of God established in AD 31 by Jesus Christ Himself can't be the same one you claimed He established in AD 33. So what? Go and find out who is the true founder of your church. 1 Like |

Its simple! What is the difference between Roman catholic church and the Protestant churches? What are those things done in the Catholic church of the present that were not in the Church of the Apostles time? 1. If you can prove that Peter and his fellow Apostles put on the Priestly Robe, then the first church is catholic 2. If you can prove that Peter ,Paul and the other Apostles use the rosaries then you have a point 3. If Mary the mother of Jesus was venerated to the status of Mother of God during the times of Peter and the other disciples, then you have a point. 4. Show me the earliest Monastery if it coincides with Jesus or His Apostles 5. Which seminary or Monastery did Timothy attend 6. How many Nuns were recorded in the books of Acts of the Apostle... 2 Likes |

DoctorAlien: It is you who has to prove your claims first. You're the OP, remember? Your only evidence to back your claims is that a nun whom you and your kind manufactured said it. How can anyone take you seriously. You should even be sorry that you are lifting from a fictitious source. But no. 2 Likes |

shadeyinka: So in order for God's Church to exist for 2000 years, it must do everything exactly the same way from the beginning to the end of the world. So because an anthem changed from 'Nigeria we hail thee' to 'Arise o compatriots,' it is no longer the same country? Or because a woman takes her husband's surname, wears a ring, and dresses like a married woman she has become a separate person? This is why Nigeria is in a mess. People dont think. 4 Likes |

An2elect2:Since you seem to hold John Calvin in high regard, this is his opinion on the matter. “I deny not that the early Christians uniformly give high honour to the Roman Church, and speak of it with reverence. . . . pious and holy bishops, when driven from their sees, often betook themselves to Rome as an asylum or haven. . . . It therefore added very great authority to the Roman Church, that . . . [it] adhered more firmly to the doctrine once delivered, . . .” (IV, 6:16) 1 Like |
