Nigeria cannot develop with this kind of mindset.
In other climes, infrastructure like airports, seaports, electricity, super highways and industries which generate the bone of contention called marginalization are built and operated by the private sector.
In the UK, some of the hitherto state run infrastructure have been privatized .
Adebayo Ogunlesi's GIP brought London city airport in 2006, acquired majority stake in Gatwick airports, London in 2009 and bought Edinburgh airport, Scotland, UK in 2012.

Real2020:
Only Dangote, oil companies and some notable Nigerians can use those ports in SS. International commercial vessels are not allowed to sail directly to those ports by Nigeria Port Authority policies...for decades SS and SE governors have tried to let NPA to allow these ports to function to their full capacity and they have refused. Only chartered or privately owned vessels by oil companies, Dangote and few well known Nigerians can use them.

There is what we can systematic marginalization that you yorubas have no clue of against Igbos, and SS. They know if SS ports are fully functional like Lagos, these ports will spur economic growth and likely clout to demand for independence from Nigeria, so making SE and SS dependent on Lagos ports is a way of indirectly keeping them in Nigeria...tying them to Nigeria.
Please provide the verifiable sources to back up your assertion. sad Most of your businessmen do not like to consign their imported goods to SS ports, for reasons best known to them. Kemafor Chikwe (one of your Igbo daughters) was was appointed Minister of Transport, and then of Aviation by President Olusegun Obasanjo, why did she not reverse the trend? Why did she NOT make SS ports viable for Igbo businessmen to use?

The late Chief Ojo Maduekwe (May 6, 1945 – June 29, 2016) another illustrious Igbo son was Minister of Transport in 2001. What did he do about the state of SS ports? These people had the chance to reverse any issue that affected the SS ports. Why on earth did they not do so?

Have you ever heard about minister without a portfolio? Most Nigerians are interested in issues built more on cosmetic than substance. There is no doubt that some of this contributors have not experienced life in a corporate world talk less of government.

What a stupid post . What has minister without a portfolio got to do with the post you quoted? You think you are in your village or in the midst of other mumus like you? I would have said you are making a fool of your self but that would be an insult to fools. How can ministers be described as having no portfolio when they are clearly designated as transport or aviation ministers?
A minister with no portfolio is simply a cabinet member with no ministry. Usually known as Minister for special or adhoc duties.

People have not talked about deliberate government policies that were targeted specifically to Igbo. Some of the policy include the importation of fabrics and several other items. Igbo goods were targeted for customs seizure. This situation is a great part of the poor economic situation in the South East. Many cottage industry grew from money earned from importation.

You people have started your victim mentality again. sad Tell us first, why were goods targeted for customs seizure? Wasn't it because the importers had either evaded customs duties, or had imported contraband goods? Why are you trying to make it seem as if people from other tribes are not involved in importation? And why are you trying to make it seem as if only Igbo importers were the ones whose goods were seized? shocked So the ban on various items only affected Igbo importers of such items, and not the non-Igbo importers, is that what you are trying to say?

When government policies affect over 90% of the livelihood of a particular group it needs to be revisited. The argument of punishment for importing contraband does not suffice. The Igbo was strategically targeted by placing a ban on those commodities their mercantile operations depended on. This is a part of the problem.

Oga stop this your propaganda, abeg. shocked The Igbo were not specifically targeted by govt policies on importation. All importers who brought in contraband goods or evaded customs duties were affected, irrespective of their ethnic origins. undecided Are you trying to make people believe that the Igbo importers are the greatest lawbreakers since you claim their goods were seized because of the ban? After all, these importers knew the goods were banned, so why did they still go ahead to import such goods?

Yoruba Elders Meet Jonathan To Complain About Marginalisation - Smh

Written by Leon Usigbe, Abuja
Friday, 26 August 2011

PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan met with a delegation of the Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE), led by Major-General Adeyinka Adebayo (retd), in the State House, on Thursday, as the leaders complained about being left out in the top six posts in the country.

The delegation also demanded for the dissolution of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), which they observed had been unable to fulfill the objectives of its establishment, while also asking for action of the deplorable roads in the South-West.

But responding to their requests, President Jonathan said he was concerned about adherence to the principle of federal character and the zoning formula adopted by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and he had tried to ensure that no section of the country was left out in the scheme of things by accommodating them in the subsequent appointments he had made.

According to him, “the issue of federal character and position, especially those political offices, were quite worrisome to me, but we had to achieve political balancing and federal character.

“That is why this thing you describe as zoning was to make sure that every zone should be represented in the one you describe as top six, but for some political reasons, it was not possible. But on my own, in terms of appointments, I tried to see that the way appointment was made, you will agree with me that the appointments we have made so far did not exclude any section.”

He promised that he would not preside over a government that would margninalise any section of the country.

Jonathan lauded the role of Yoruba elders in the 2011 presidential election, which enabled the PDP to win in the South-West saying that the success was made possible because of the leadership.

On the request for the dissolution of the NDDC, Jonathan said though there were many complaints about the commission, it could not be dissolved because it was made up of management and staff.

Jonathan restated his commitment to ensure that things were done differently in the country, adding that corrupt officials would no longer be allowed to go scot free, while outstanding performers would be rewarded.

This is a welcome development, the Yorubas should be effectively and perpetually marginalized and schemed out, because they deserve worst things also. What did they achieve for their rotten Yoruba states during wasted years of the baboon called Obasanjorijo Useless and woe tribe. They should step up the complaint, GEJ will as usual and as always mess them up. They forgot that Tinubo sold them out for a pot of 'ewodu', the same way their foolish leaders sold out abioala to the almajiris to be slaughtered.

Stop blaming the Yorubas for your problems. There are so many falsehoods in your write up.

1) There is no International Airport in Kaduna

2) There are Functional International Airports in Port Harcourt and Calabar but the volume of traffic there is low compared to Lagos nobody is Abuja.
Nobody can force Passengers to use them.

3) Dutse International Airport ,Dutse, Jigawa State was built from the Scratch by Gov Sule Lamido same with Gombe International Airport built from the scotch by Gov Danjuma Goje.
Both Airports are used to lift passengers to Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Dubai.
They citizens didn't cried of marginalization before their Governors built these.

4) The Lagos State is building Two Deep Sea ports in Badagry and Lekki.

5) There are functional Sea ports in Warri, P/Harcourt and Calabar.

You can tell your importers to routes their goods to these Sea-Ports if they don't like Lagos ports (this will help to decongest Lagos).
If the Shipping companies don't have enough goods going to that Zones, they may not want to pay that routes.

My prescibed solution is very easy, let the importers of the SE form a cooperative and purchase small Ships to that can be used to offload their cargoes on the High Seas (from large Ocean liners) and transport them to Shallow) Calabar ports

Real2020:
What is funny is some Nigerians particularly yorubas think it's natural and okay for Lagos to have 2 seaports and largest functional international airport by design and for SE to have none. Some actually think Lagos has all these ports and airport by merit. When you try to to reason with them that why are Port Harcourt, Calabar, Warri, Onne and Onitsha ports not as functional as Lagos ports, they come up with all manners of excuses but you tell that that Dangote is using Calabar seaport to import most of his goods into SE, and then they keep quiet.Lol! Same goes for the airport, why are Lagos, Abuja, Kaduna and Kano the only functional airports in the country for international direct flight services? The fact is if you go right now, I mean now, to Lagos and Abuja, count and interview those traveling to international destinations, I assure you over 50% are Igbos. Then why can't they travel directly from Enugu, Uyo, Calabar, Asaba or Port Harcourt? Same goes for their goods...all these companies Reno talked about in Nnewi, Aba and Onitsha import their goods via Lagos port, that's over 1000 kms drive and paying all kinds of customs fees and bribes on the way to finally make it to SE, and you tell me this is fair?

Yorubas...how will you people feel having to drive 1000kms to SE to fly and clear your goods? Not only do you do this one time only but a constant thing for the past 50 yrs? And you think it's ok? Yorubas....where are your conscience? Do you people have feelings at all? Do you have hearts? I commend Fayose and Fani but more yorubas need to come out and condemn this evil and wickedness!
