N-Power: Farouq Speaks On Selection Of New Beneficiaries

The minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Sadiya Farouq has promised to ensure there is transparency in the selection process from among the over 5 million applicants for N-Power Batch C so that only qualified beneficiaries are admitted into the program.
The minister spoke on Thursda in Abuja during an interaction with National Social Investment Program (NSIP) Focal Persons, Program Managers and State Operations Coordinating Unit (SOCU) officers from all states of the country.
“We have also received over 5 million applications from proposed N-Power Batch C and we are currently in the process of selecting the qualified beneficiaries coming into the program, Farouq said.
“I assure all the applicants and Nigerians that the selection process will be transparent.”
She said that plans are also in place to ensure that “exited N-Power beneficiaries are engaged or absorbed into other programmes”.
Farouq said she has given approval for the payment of stipends for the exited beneficiaries of batches A and B, up to the month of June 2020, including that of the independent monitors, adding that the final payment of stipend for Batch B is almost ready for transmission to the office of the Accountant General of the Federation for final checks and payment.
She said:“This event put together to appreciate the efforts of all the focal persons, program managers and others in different states across the federation. I am aware of the sacrifices and commitment you put in to ensure the smooth implementation of the different programmes and I commend your efforts.
“There is no doubt that the National Social Investment Programmes (NSIP) are critical components of the present Administration’s activities and are vehicles through which His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari‘s vision of lifting 100 million people out of poverty in 10 years will be achieved.
“Since my assumption of office, I have remained focused on ensuring the sustainability and improvement of the programmes bearing in mind the high impact value they have to teeming Nigerians, whose lives have been significantly disrupted as a result of the present humanitarian and economic situation in the country.
“It is against this background that I urge everyone of you to continue to give in your best to ensure the lives of those we are called to serve are made better. We must not lose sight of the fact that each one of the vulnerable persons are not mere numbers or statistics but real people with dreams, hopes, aspirations and a desire to live decent lives in peace and safety.”
She added: “As we renew our commitment to the service of humanity, I will like to seize this opportunity to, once again, state that we have successfully exited Batch A and B of the N-Power beneficiaries in June and July, respectively, and we are still working towards ensuring a transition plan that will further engage or absorb them into other programmes.
“We have also received over 5 million applications from proposed N-Power Batch C and we are currently in the process of selecting the qualified beneficiaries coming into the programme. I assure all the applicants and Nigerians that the selection process will be transparent.
“Furthermore, I wish to reiterate that I have given approval for the payment of stipends for the exited beneficiaries of batches A and B up to the month of June 2020, including that of the independent monitors.
“Also, the final payment of stipend for Batch B is almost ready for transmission to the office of the Accountant General of the Federation for final checks and payment.
“I therefore appeal for patience and understanding from beneficiaries omitted for payment in previous months and those in batch B who are to get their final payment.”

Who Are NSIP Focal Persons?
NSIP Focal persons are appointed by the State Governors to oversee the Social Investment Programmes of the Federal Government namely: N-Power, GEEPMarketMoni, Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT), and the NHGSFP.
So as a N-Power volunteer or an N-Power beneficiary of any of the NSIP Programme, you are supposed to be familiar with your state focal person because before any issue as regards N-Power outstanding payments or backlogs gets to Federal Government the innovators of the NSIP programme, it will pass through your state focal person and sometimes your state focal person can resolve your payment issues.
Therefore it is good to know who your state focal person is and also make sure that you have their contact for inquiries.

N-Power Devices: Batch B And C Cheated

The Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development has NEVER commented or spoken about the N-Power devices promised to Batch B and a handful of batch A N-Power volunteers who failed to collect theirs due to shortages.
It now obvious and glaring, devices will not be issued, many N-Power volunteers have taken to various social media handles to remind the Minister Sadiya Umar Farouq, but all plea fell on deaf ears, as she played ignorant of that part of the N-Power programme.
Was it perversity Batch A N-Power Volunteers were given devices? What hope lies with N-Power Batch B? And to what extent do batch C stand a chance? Exited and incoming N-Power volunteers questioned the integrity of the N-Power programme under the leadership and mentorship of Sadiya Umar Farouq, the first Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.
Some called it ”a cheat on batch B”, Batch A were given devices and Batch B were not, under the same funded N-Power programme. A move judged to be unfair and poorly managed, giving rise to questions of poor planning and administration of the N-Power Scheme.
The Last Press Statements Released by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development finally dashed all hopes for device selection and pick-up.
The press release only address the 14,000 N-Power volunteers rejected by GIFMIS, incoming batch C, and the way out (Transition plan) of batch batch A and B.
There was no information and nothing was said about the devices for some N-Power batch A, batch B and the incoming batch C.
Just like kids that bank on their parent’s promises and remind them constantly, N-Power volunteers of Batch B still questions and worries about their promised devices.

N-Power Volunteers Prepares To Meet Presidency Over Permanency

MINUTE OF N-POWER VOLUNTEERS GENERAL VIRTUAL MEETING HELD ON THE 6TH SEPTEMBER, 2020

The meeting started at exactly 9pm with an opening prayer from Comrade Joseph Enan and was anchored by Comrade Austin Nsikak.
After a brief introduction by members of N-Power group we moved straight to the first agendum in the agenda which was sending letter to the Chief of Staff of the Federation to seek for permission to see the president which we all N-Power volunteers agreed to. And all N-Power volunteers agreed that the letter will be sent to to the admins platform for proper scrutiny.
The next agendum in the agenda was sending a reminder letter to the Senate President and The Speaker of the House of Representative.
Comrade Isaiac objected that it should be a fresh letter requesting for an audience to the duo to discuss N-Power Batch A and B plight rather than a letter of reminder.
It was also agreed that the said letter should be sent through our delegates to deliver it directly to their office in Abuja.
Comrade Oluwafemi suggested that since NASS will resume planery this September that all N-Power volunteers should align all plans prior to their resumption of planery and all N-Power volunteers were unanimous.
Comrade Chygoz suggested that all N-Power volunteers include all the fact about our unlawful disengagement in the letter and present the sent letter to the general house to prove that the letter carries all the necessary fact in our unlawful disengagement. Comrade Austin even made known to the house that even our handbills carries all the necessary facts in the unlawful disengagement.
Comrade Eleyinla was worried about how our letter will get to our destination that some secretary may throw some letters under the carpet that there is need for us to follow up. Comrade Godstime Abanum responded that we should select delegates that can assure us that they will be able to deliver our letter to its destination.
The next agendum in the agenda was how to mobilize Abuja N-Power beneficiaries and its environs. An N-Power volunteer suggested that the Abuja N-Power beneficiaries should join their group chat rooms to enlighten other N-Power beneficiaries on the latest happenings.
At about 10:44pm Comrade Austin moved a motion for adjournment of the meeting till further notice and was seconded by Comrade Jude.

The closing prayer was made by Comrade Jude and all N-Power volunteers departed.

God bless Nigerian youths
God bless NYC
God bless Nigeria

FALSE Claim Circulates Online That N-Power Has Shortlisted Names For Its 2020 Programme

A POST has been shared repeatedly on social media claiming that the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development (FMHDS) in Nigeria has shortlisted candidates for its 2020 N-Power programme.

The post retrieved from a WhatsApp group on 3 September directed people to check for their names via a link.

The post reads: “Npower 2020 has shortlisted for its second stage. Check if you are included or forward to your loved ones who applied.”

THE CLAIM

That N-power has shortlisted names for its 2020 programme and that people can check via a particular link.

THE FINDINGS:

The N-Power is a scheme set up by the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari meant to address the issues of youth unemployment. It was created as a component of the National Social Investment Programme.
In a bid to verify the claim, The FactCheckHub observed that the website in the post is different from the website created for the programme by the FMHDS.
A close look at the website shows that it is a duplicate site trying to clone the original website. While the original website address is https://npower.fmhds.gov.ng, the fake website changed the dots after ‘Npower’ and after ‘fmhds’ to hyphens.
The FactCheckHub also reached out to the FMHDS to confirm if a shortlist for the N-Power programme is out as claimed. Halima Oyelade, a Special Assistant on Media to the FMHDS minister noted that the claim in circulation is false and that the ministry is yet to shortlist people for the N-power programme.
”This is not true,” she replied The FactCheckHub‘s enquiry via a text message.
Similarly, the minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq, in a report by Guardian Newspaper noted that the selection process is still ongoing.
She said, “We have also received over 5 million applications from proposed N-Power Batch C and we are currently in the process of selecting the qualified beneficiaries coming into the programme”.
“I assure all the applicants and Nigerians that the selection process will be transparent.”
The minister spoke on 3 September in Abuja during an interaction with National Social Investment Program (NSIP) Focal Persons, Program Managers and State Operations Coordinating Unit (SOCU) officers from all states of the country.
The N-Power programme falls under the purview of Farooq’s portfolio.

THE VERDICT:

Based on the checks above the claim that N-power has shortlisted names for its 2020 programme is FALSE.

Continue To Pay Stipends Until Transition Is Ready- N-Power Volunteers Twitted Sadiya

In what appeared to be an advice, an exited N-Power volunteer of the N-Power programme has voiced out to the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.
While others are throwing tantrums at the Minister over delayed and non-payment of stipends to over 14,000 N-Power volunteers for over 5 months, an N-Power volunteer advised the minister to look into the pending issues of N-Power volunteers, who have no other means of livelihood.
Some N-Power Volunteers commended the leadership of the Minister, but pleaded to her to continue paying the ₦30,000 stipends till her plans regarding transition comes to fruition.
Meanwhile, many unpaid N-Power volunteers have taken to the official facebook and twitter pages of both the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, and The Office of the Accountant General of The Federation, agitating and clamouring for the payment of July Stipend and the 5 months stipends being owed to lots of N-Power volunteers.
All Information posted on the pages were meted with heavy agitations on non-payment of stipends, a sight not to be behold, as most N-Power volunteers “threw tantrums and ill-conceived words ” at the ministry.
