Anambra Governorship Election 2017: Ngige Body Language Scatters APC Gladiators by Nobody: 7:45am On Jun 14, 2017
Members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are unsettled over plans by Minister of Labour and Productivity, Dr Chris Ngige to fly the party’s flag in the Anambra State governorship election slated for November 2017.

Among those who have so far indicated interest in the party’s ticket are ranking senator, Andy Uba, National Auditor of the party, Chief George Moghalu, and a member of the House of Representatives, Hon Tony Nwoye.

The APC national officers are worried that Ngige, who has denied gunning for the position, may be secretly mobilizing to contest in the party’s upcoming governorship primary election.
Said an officer, “Yes, Dr Ngige has constantly maintained that he’s not interested in returning to Anambra Government House, but the situation on ground suggests otherwise.

“We’ve heard stories of Ngige holding several political meetings with heads of the clergy, market and town unions, and how he has been distributing gifts to them, and Ngige certainly is not a philanthropist,” noted the party officer.

According to another official of the party, Anambra APC is worried by the alleged plans by Ngige to renege on an earlier promise not to contest for the governorship.
He said the APC was the more worried that Ngige’s alleged governorship ambition may weaken the APC’s chances in the forthcoming election where Governor Willie Obiano of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) is the incumbent.

He noted, “We all know how difficult it is to run against an incumbent. We also know that the APC is gradually making inroads into the South-east, and this is the litmus test for the party’s popularity and acceptance.
“Should we go into the election with a divided house, the consequences will be too dire. Ngige has a reputation for not honouring agreements. One can only hope that this is all speculation,” he offered.

An APC chieftain from Anambra Central District advised the party to select what he described as a very marketable candidate.
He remarked, ”We all know Ngige came third in the last governorship election. We also know the late Prof Dora Akunyili almost embarrassed Ngige at the 2011 Anambra central senatorial election. So this isn’t a time for trial and error. We should be able to present a very formidable candidate.”

Although we were unable to reach Ngige for comments. However, a political associate of his maintained that it was the minister’s right to contest any election he so desired, saying Ngige never entered into any agreement not to contest the governorship election.
“Those claiming Onwa (Ngige) pledged not to contest the governorship election should provide proof. He worked hard for the party and, as a leader, deserves to be accorded the right of first refusal. After all, his governorship was aborted in 2006 by the Appeal Court.

“We are consulting widely. What is standing in our way is Mr President’s ill health. We pray he gets well soon so we can get his nod to contest. Once given the ticket, Onwa will become the next governor of Anambra State,” he declared.

APC can't win the gubernatorial seat in Anambra. They don't have the grassroot support and all their aspirants are known

It will even be good for Ngige, AKA Prodigal son and a lost sheep to be the APC flag bearer.

It will be an automatic failure for APC..

We don't want Ngige

We don't want APC

We don't want change.

Those that have money to waste should go on but NO ELECTION in Anambra come November. IPOB says so and it's not negotiable. Only acceptable referendum date can change our minds.

Is there anything different Ngige will do from what Obiano is doing? While it is true that Chris Ngige is performance oriented, aggressive in project execution and 'quality or none' in creed, it is yet to be known how he can nurture good relationships with indigenous investors like Obiano has done in the last 3 years. What Obiano has done in building trust can't be rivalled, most of the investors are on ground, working to meet the set date. From Real Estates, Oil and Gas, Agriculture, Commerce, to Retail Shops and many more are in various stages of negotiations with the Igwe Cyril led Investment Agency.
Ngige should please jettison the idea and remain at the Federal executive, while we use the available medium and the 'marginalization of the Igbos' to demand a better portfolio for him, where his hardwork and performance will be felt. Obiano will not turn down his good counsel if he channels it appropriately and we move forward.
Aside Ngige, no name in that APC team can secure a useful vote from Anambra people in a credible election, the man saying trial and error is ignorant.

That's good. I wish he would clinch the ticket. Let's see if all those political prostitutes like Uba, Nwoye etc that decamped from PDP will shamelessly return to PDP.
Meanwhile anambra people don't want change

This Governorship election gonna be between the IPOB, APT and APGA.

This is the best time for Kanu to float a Political Party now that Nwazurike is pleading with the North against the famous quit notice.

Disunity among the igbo tribe will make the BIAFRA Nation a MIRAGE.

It will be very difficult for APC to win any election in South East that is if any election is even allowed to hold there!

Okorocha proved them right when the southeast voted against APC! His first tenure was almost scandal free with alot of developmental achievements but just like most unfaithful politicians, his second tenure was an eye Sore with so many abandoned project!

Not to include that APC has always being perceived as a tribal party by the East, it will be difficult to penetrate the Eastern part!

Worthy of note is that APC was not voted for but Okorocha converted to the APC party. I was rooting for Rochas but if you go to Imo in his second term, you will see the sorry state they are in!

Beside Obiano is really doing great in Anambra just like his predecessor. There will be need for a worthy, rather a better opponent to shake Obtain a little.

But Mark my words Obiano is going in for his second term! Others vying for that post needs to put their money in great use of serving the people or developing that State while they slowly waits for their turn!

THE NORTH ASKED THE IGBOS TO VACATE THE NORTH.

NOW A NORTHERN PARTY EXPECTS THE IGBOS TO VOTE THEM
