Pls I have some Suoer 350watt Inverter showing red fault light not supplying power.....pls what could be wrong with these inverter.... They were previously working before showing the faulty red light and I have adjusted the cable several times already with no success

I have been attempting to DIY an automatic transfer switch and testing the device in three locations - two out of three are working good but the third location suffers from chronic low mains voltage (relay coil rated 220v sees 172v to 180v from PHCN) and this causes 'chattering' and ultimately the relay burns out.

I have attached a rough schematic and actual picture below - you will see from the schematic that I shorted signal/coil (live from PHCN) to Common on the source side and shorted NC to NO on the load side since I am using two separate power sources (Mains from PHCN has priority and inverter with timer attached for fixed hours of run time if no mains) to power one load.

I do this for all my control circuits as it makes them safe to handle. also the 12 V control parts are cheaper and easier to find on both continents ( US , UK )

alternatively, use this which has batter contact rating for mains then the omron one you are using as it is nor rated to pen inductive loads

Introducing an AC/DC power supply to energize the coil is another possible point of failure which I want to avoid if possible.

And yes I will use a beefy contactor if I plan to switch large loads although that 10a rated Omron relay is rated for 2a of inductive loads I think.

Would a circuit breaker in line help interrupt the power if the contacts begin to chatter and avoid catastrophic failure?

One interesting thing I found in my experimentation is that the relays seemed to achieve nearly instantaneous changeover even better than normal inverter transfer times - 8ms per the spec sheet with most loads including a fridge not even noticing the changeover but it is much slower when using a contactor.

I have said it before and I'll say it again - your DIY skills are above par - many a professional installer would be unable to do such a neat job as you have done - all aesthetics to be sure but a key and desirable aspect of the job regardless.

A few observations/questions if I may;

1) DC Bus bar placement - I hate to see the +ve and -ve so close together - think what could happen in the event of an inadvertent or malicious short!!! e.g you tightening something with a spanner and spanner slips - your entire battery bank would be dumped through the short with disastrous results. My reco is to saw that wooden base in half and relocate one terminal at least 2 feet away.

2) What are those two 13amp sockets on the wooden board meant to power or do?

3) White breaker like device - is that some sort of SPD or just a circuit breaker or combiner box? Please tell us more about it as I couldn't make out the details on it

Thank you sir! Do not fret for the busbars will be encased in 2 different compartments, i can access one terminal to screw and unscrew while the other remains closed. But after careful thought, i think i best follow your method, a very easy way out.

The 13 amp sockets, just wait for it. You will see.

The white box; just a fanciful changeover switch to replace the commonplace knife switch.

i am beginning to fear for lack of space on the main board so as I continue to install, i will make deletions and/or modifications. Should round up today though.

A very neat job, DIY like a professional..i observed the breaker carries +ve of PV and Battery...is knife switch not better than the socket you introduce to break off d PV before putting ON the PV/batt breaker? Jst saying.

Its amazing to know your individual batteries are doing great just with the help of individual battery LCD monitor .. The battery balancer has duo functions ;
-works on SOC mode
-works on DOD mode
Therefore, it works whilst the batteries undergoes charging and also whilst in use (backing up) as illustrated in night snapshot below....
