what most of us dont know is, if Nigeria is restructured properly, Lagos would go down. Lagos would be more affected reason i believe is as follows.

Lagos is the only Major seaport currently being used in Nigeria. If the country is restructured, other states that has sea would make there sea useful eg Warri, PH, Calabar even Anambra would dredge river river and whether you like it or not little ships would operate there. With this, revenue generated for Lagos via seaport would be reduced.

International Airport: With restructuring most states would have international airport. If you remember during uncle Jona regime, one regions was opposing the upgrading of Enugu airport to international airport. Now people from the east dont need to come to Lagos anymore, they can now fly out of Nigeria from Enugu, so because of this, revenue for local flight and international flight operating was reduced and it would lead to reduced tax paid to Lagos.

Courier: I dont think DHL, UPS Fedex etc operate in Ekiti. Even if they operate, they would be very very small. But if ekiti has for example has international Airport, UPS would not need to land goods meant for Ekiti in Lagos first before it would then be transported to Ekiti. So if goods are transported to Ekiti directly via flight, it means people would need to build more houses to house this workers, by building more houses development would grow in the state.

Transportation: One thing Lagos enjoys is Population. Lagos generates alot of revenue from transport. remember that the more other states develop, people would be moving out of Lagos. for example, If i work in Lagos and am paid 100k, now i need to wake up 5.am daily to get to work on time, i have a rent of 300k to pay yearly, school fee per child 45k average. but if i get joy vacancy in Ekiti and i would earn 80k and am a native of ekiti i would go there because am sure of free house and also am sure of building my own house because land would be cheap or even free.

One of the benefit of proper restructuring is, it would encourage almost everybody to go back home and make ends meet because there would be development everywhere in the country. know region and state would want to be left behind. i would stop for now because am tired. Correction,those power plants get gas supplied to them via pipes from the N.D, there are no gas generation and refining plants on site at those plants.

There are two types; fossil fuel power station and Hydroelectric dams.

We can generate power from Hydroelectric without gas and currently Oyo state has embarked on generating electric from waste.

Besides, ONDO STATE has ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF GAS.

Even, if ND gets gas generation, WP can buy gas because ND wants to sell...

Going back to the national structure of 1960 before the military did their work might not be a bad idea o. Stay with me...

If Nigeria restructures into regions/provinces (i.e Northern, Middle Belt, Western, Eastern and South-South) and the FCT, I see (predict?) 10 positive things that would happen in quick succession (primarily due to inter-province competition)...

1. The first province to experience economic explosion would obviously be the Western Province. The Odudua Master plan will be revealed. There would be trans-regional 4g internet fiber connection/rail/subways/highways/power grids etc. Yoruba will become the 2nd official language. They are relatively united. They have oil. They own academia. They have mega corporations. The WP would be the first to have stable 24/7 power supply! Foreign money will flood the province. More Forbes recognised billionaires will arise. Some of them will be internet billionaires. Lagos will be relieved a little from overpopulation as railway lines from other states will make living elsewhere and working in Lagos a breeze.

2. The Northern Province will have stronger islamic laws. Sharia will be entrenched and this will make the NP become the least corrupt province. The middle east (Arab) nations will move in to partner with them, bringing major development. Jaiz bank and Unity Bank will become mega banks. Common, i dont need to be jealous. because i dont want my writeup to depict my tribe thats while i had to add Ekiti. You saying Lagos wants to reduce population, because its over populated, what you dont understand is, Lagos genarates more via population. Let me give you example, Companies are setup in Lagos, the company has 500 staffs, each staff is taxed, the Money goes to Lagos state govt, when you close from work, you board a bus going home, Agbero would may be collect lets say 1k per trip, ( collecting money bustop to bustop) part of the money goes to the govt, so with this Lagos state would make more money. Most people dont know thing things, restructure would affect the big states in the Long run because by then states like Osun, ekiti would would have done things that would attract foreign investors. Another example, for now, if a business man in the north is bringing lets say 3units of 40feat container, he would have to bring it via Lagos and transport to North, but if the country is restructured, the northern business man woul look for the nearest port to north, and also look for the port whose tarrife is cheap, with this process Lagos revenue go reduce. The fact is, if we want eveeywhere in the country to develop we must restructure our country and make it like that of USA. When you restructure, prices of goods and services would not be the same because everybody wants to attract population and foreign investor. Let me give you another example, in USA today 4liter fuel might be $50 and tomorrow it would be $35, another week it might be $37. This process is suppose to be applicable in Nigeria but for one reason or the other, its not applicable, so the region/states that apply this, might attract foreign investors which would lead to population explosion. Note not that Lagos would not grow, but not like the way it was growing before because people would be moving out of the state because they have gotten good job with less stress outside Lagos.
