According to a reliable source, the current siege on Nnamdi Kanu’s house by the Army may be a ploy to keep him under house arrest on humanitarian grounds instead of returning him to jail, thereby leaving him with some freedom while preventing him from flouting his bail conditions.

According to the source who wants to remain anonymous, the Federal Government may just be interested in whittling down Kanu’s political wings, instead of doing him harm, as is feared by many of his supporters.

Recall that of recent, Nnamdi KANU has made several statements that the government sees as capable of heating up the polity, including his call for boycott of Anambra elections among other things, and the Federal Government is very concerned about it- so is the Anambra State Government.

Also of concern to the Federal Government is Kanu flouting his bail conditions which Kanu has said he will not obey.

As it is, the fate of several rallies that Kanu may have wanted to attend hangs in the balance. If the soldiers don’t leave the access road to his house, it is unlikely that Kanu would be able attend the rally or organize the 2 million man march he said he would organise for his next court appearance at Abuja. The soldiers may even be the ones to escort him to his next court appearance instead.

Meanwhile the South East caucus of the Nigerian Senate has frowned at the very presence of large numbers of the military in the South East.

Why haven't the FG deployed soldiers to northern states where Irate youths, hostile religious fanatics and menacing herdsmen originate from.
I am not Nnamdi Kanu's fan but in my opinion I'd say that the FG is inadvertently making the guy a hero as stories about his activities or anything that concerns him make headlines in every news source. Even people that hate the guy And what he is fighting for are drunk with stories about him. They can't resist making input whenever his issue arises.

His cravings have suddenly turned to an ideology and judging from historical evidence or rather facts, it's difficult if not impossible to end certain ideologies with military might or intimidation. Military suppression can only bring a temporary relief. Especially when you are dealing with people who are largely seen as unarmed and defenseless. Dialogue would have achieved much easily and on a long term.

My humble opinion though

"...You vow to burn the country down. You order for security agents to be killed. You display a ragtag army with military fatigues. You create your own version of a state security service. You solicit for arms. You vow to halt the constitutional right of others to vote. You violate every bail condition.

All your actions are TREASONABLE yet you expect to be given a pat on the back and a sit at a sane men's table.

Pray tell, how best does one define an enemy of state?..."

What sense does this make. The trial is in less than a month. Why is everyone over analyzing this with crazy theories. If they want him on house arrest he wouldn't have been able to leave house to give that speach outside his compound. If they want him on house arrest the prosecution would call for this.

Don't you think the prosecution could be told by FG to modify their submission for revoking Kanu's bail from remand in prison to house arrest?

Was is it the prosecutor that "called for" recent military patrol or near invasion of Nnamdi Kanu's locality.

It's all possible they asked but I doubt it. Even if they did they would just wait for court to grant their request like sane human beings. Then let him break it to make their lives easier to throw him in jail. In this day and age of ankle monitors why have soldiers.

Prosecutors have no power over soldiers operations. Their job is simple to get evidence to convict the defense. The Army has its official reason why it's there supposedly. They just want to posture and nothing more. They aren't their to capture or contain him. Kanu's neither running or hiding. If they want him st any time they wold already have him.

What a face saving apology.
They camr to kill him but could not understand how our people are able to face armoured tanks unarmed.
The Terrosits Army ran by the Terrorists Fulani led by the Jihardist Buhari should save their breath.

The music they set for the python to dance has changed rhythm on its own.
The python will surely dance.and dance bad dance until they learn that guts are stronger than guns.

Who ever thinks Buhari and his terror organisations of Army and Fulani herdsmen will not pay for their crimes must be joking.

We shal do our part but Nigeria is under a curse already.
You don't shed an innocent blood and expect to prosper.

There is no difference between ritualists /carnibals and an Army officer who kills unarmed civilians or a president who gave such orders.

It is more a crime for a soldier to molest a civilian than for him to kill a fellow soldier.

They will surely be punished.
Nigeria just scored an own goal.

Within the last 24 hours,, do you know what we have achieved?

Apart from our dead, this is good for Biafra

What is everyone thinking to come up with these awful theories. If they wanted him dead he would be dead simple. The road past his house and around town. They would only need 2 armored cars. A squadron in riot gear to secure perimeter. Then lastly battering ram to take out doors.

No your stones didn't stop the armoured vehicle. They just wanted to posture and nothing more. They not putting him on house arrest, trying to assassinate him or rearrrst him. They don't need to do anything before trial. Kanu is not running or hiding. He's not armed or dangerous so killing would only make him martyr.

you are on point. everyone knows that IPOB's rantings about halting or resisting military invasion to arrest their leader is a propaganda but I must say it's not a cheap propaganda. the presence of the military is only promoting excitement amongst the IPOB members thereby making them feel important and may even go a long way to attract sympathy and support from many people and organisations. let's keep watching.

you fail to understand that Kanu does not want to get re-arrested. He will try to resist arrest should the court revoke his bail and order his arrest. The NA just took him by surprise.

I think I know how to end all this. Let all sensible Nigerians boycot anything that came from Igbo... In your street or market, don't buy anything from Igbos, stop exporting food stuff to them, cut-off all basic necessities, militarize the whole SE and even SS if need be. If they continue killing innocent lives in their pig republic, do the right thing back in your own state/region too. As for me and my family, we have pledge never to buy anything from Igbo or anything that came from there. God bless Nigeria and destroy the Pigs and idiots republic.

Yes they surprised him alright by coming before court gave their sentence. If he resist arrest then what. They police in riot gear can take him out. Like I said in my last scenario the government has more than enough equipment and intelligence on him to capture him. There only big threat is riots. After that's contained normalcy returns.

My humble opinion though

During the peak of boko haram insurgency, most of the affected states were heavily militarized. But after they were localized to just Borno and Yobe, the military were moved there. As at now, Borno and Yobe have heavy military presence.

You only dialogue when you are at advantage position... The military need to reduce the population of the agigators, it's then the government can dialogue.

IPOB will try to resist any attempt at arresting Kanu should the court order his arrest. What we'll have is more dead bodies of IPOB members trying to prevent KANU's arrest by men of the Nigerian forces. you don't tell a thief you're coming to his house.
