igbodefender: That's no carpet crossing. The people were never part of Zik party. They were independent parties that can vote for anyone they like. That they always tilt towards Herbert macualy's party doesn't mean they will always do so. As a matter of fact, the Ibadan people were quite aware of Zik's tribalism at UI 4 Likes |

Let me even get this straight, don't tell me you actually thought the whole Yoruba were allowed to vote? Lol. Only the house of assembly men were required to vote and they voted for Awolowo while Zik cried foul because he thought Ibadan party and other small parties would vote for him because they've always voted for his party. Nobody cross parted. As a matter of fact, the name of all the people that voted for AG party were displayed! Moreover, Everyone asked Zik to call out the names of the people that cross carpeted but he had nothing to say yet he kept on spreading his stupid propaganda like a typical Ibo he is. 5 Likes |

stev120: Did you at all read Igbo people response to Pa Unongo interview. Did you also realise that an Igbo person actually set up the post and with only one purpose in mind- to malign and cast aspersions on the character and dignity of Yoruba people. Do you expect us after all these to just keep quiet, knowing that everything being said on this respected forum is documented for future references. For as long as our Igbo brothers will not stop to continue to paint us in bad light on this forum, we will never stop to continue to defend ourselves. We will continue to put the record straight. 6 Likes |

Are you guys actually dumb or what? Paul Unongo a Chieftain of Northern Elders Forum from Middlebelt, granted an interview in which he said Awolowo brought tribalism in our country and that was the genesis of our problem as a nation, you didn't attack him nor his people who are you are afraid of by the way only to start screaming Igbo! Igbo!! Igbo!!! Like a a Christmas goat. Where did Igbo feature on this article you nonce.SLS wrote an article saying your tribe is the problem of Nigeria, Junaid Mohammed and Ango Abdulahi have repeated this several times you and your people have never come up with a strong rebuttal, now Paul Unongo has officially made it known what people what have been saying on the side for years, that Awo introduced tribalism to Nigerian Politics, you are screaming Igbo! Igbo!! Instead of preparing a strong rebuttal. What manner of people are these ? Your biggest problem as an ethnic group is your fear of not being loved by Northerners, Northerners only care about the North , they don't love you, no matter how it hurts and how much you live in denial , stop begging for love like a people that lacks self belief and suffer from inferiority complex. Your lack of cojones is amusing.Face your enemies and leave igbos alone wtf! 1 Like |

InyinyaAgbaOku: The north at that time don't have many of their people educated. Yoruba people also generally don't travel out of Western region as they are generally happy living in their own home country. So it's understandable for Igbo people to fill up positions in the north. We are talking about Western region of Nigeria, the indigenous homeland of Yoruba people, with the highest number of educated and qualified personnel for any position whether public or private at that time. Please tell me how Igbos who were less than 5% of the population of a more educated westerners at the time be snapping up all the positions. It is on record that Awolowo complained about what was going on at the time, but he was shut down. It is also on record that Ojukwu threatened the Northerners with Igbo domination shortly before the incidences that led to the civil war, drawing the ire of Ahmadu Bello and other northern leaders, all because they occuppied most of the federal civil service positions in the north at the time. I have written all of these, not because I hate Igbo people, but to emphasize the need for Igbo people to show respect to people of other ethnic groups, especially Yoruba people. Igbo people should stop insulting us on nairaland .Igbo people In many ways also contributed to the mess Nigeria is in today. 5 Likes |

The way you guys peddle falsehood here and comfortably sleep at night still beats my imaginations. There is a difference between speaking the fact from saying what you know or feel, and in a large forum like NL you should know not everyone is dumb where you can bring in watery claims without any factual analysis and expect people to believe you. Firstly, Herbert Macaulay never handed any power to anyone, Zik who was his vice took over power from him as was expected in 1947 or so after his death. Again Awo was never a member of NCNC, so I don't know we're you got that from. Cry and wail any how you want you can't distort history and a well known fact that Awolowo brought in tribal politics into Nigeria. 4 Likes 1 Share |

igbodefender:I am sorry but you missed the point here, sir. One thing you cannot take away from Igbos..is covetousness and the only people who have visibly overwhelmed them are the Yorubas according to past and present events and Azikiwe was trying to put a stop to that by planting Igbos in strategic places in Yorubaland and taking over their destinies.Imagine Azikiwe helping his kinsmen into 94 positions out of 100+ in UI. Aguiyi Ironsi thinking Igbos have permanently taking over Nigeria, introducing unitary system and Ojuku coming to the SW with sinister motive before a few Yoruba soldiers dismantled his battalions of weaklings.Igbos are greedy people with a very few exceptions.Awolowo and Zik knew what they were doing unknown to the electorates. We all support what Awolowo did and we also know who started tribal politics by doing longer throat in another person's region.Igbos covetousness is what had made them slaves of everybody in Nigeria and fifth class citizens crying for freedom.Igbos are cry babies and very greedy people..go and ask the real Niger deltans. 5 Likes |

After the 2015 presidential election which Buhari won, most Yoruba people I know were saying, it should be the Igbo peoples turn after Buhari. But with you people's attitudes towards people of other ethnic groups, who would want to consider an Igboman for the presidency. With Igbo people erroneously believing that people of other ethnic groups hates them, they will continue to act in ways that makes it difficult for them to flow with people of other ethnic groups which is not good at all. Igbos should stop insulting us with their revisionists history on Nairaland. It is very rare for a Yoruba to write anything about the Igbos on nairaland but in response to numerous and relentless attacks which are usually untrue. For as long as you people continue attacking us, then expect our response. 2 Likes |
