Do you seriously think, sir, that rivers state's Top 40 problems at this point in time includes a football academy that won't even be sustained as a result of the poor follow up/maintenance attitude of our people?

If Madrid wants an academy in Nigeria, they should spend their money to get it spend up. Because at the end of the day, it's the club that will profit from the academy.

This isn't rocket science now!

why not set up an affliate wit any other smaller la liga team....or clubs like genk, gents or club d brugge, Basel etc...

the program will tend live it's usefulness in such manner because it will ensure players progression to this team's easily than entering into Madrid first team...

With the amount of talent spread over the country and the dart of quality coaching system in the country any good move by any of the state governors should be encouraged and not viewed with scorn. The sport world has moved into scientific mode and Nigeria need to move with it. If we have the presence of these big clubs in Nigeria it will help to impact positively on our local coaching and better scouting of our young players if all goes well. All we need to know is the details of the agreement reached between Rivers state govt and Real madrid.

Listen people,

Setting up an academy is not a bad idea. I surely love that idea.

However, when a state governor is involved in a power team mission to a football club all in the name of setting up an academy, then something is wrong somewhere.

I like Wike. But I seriously think this is priority miss road. What Rivers started people need is not an academy from Madrid, heck, the state doesn't even have training pitches to boast the kids learning.

For a governor to have spend over three days in Spain, with his entourage, on the tax payers money all in the name of academy, he should be seriously flogged.
