90% of terrain infact

Amphib doctrine only really applies to the soviets because of their emphasis on deep operations which meant that mechanised brigades were expected to operate with limited support so they couldent afford to stop and wait for engineers to come and build a bridge - their plan was to launch multiple simulatanious attacks on NATO lines and when they make a hole throw everything they have into that hole with orders to push on until they either run out of fuel or die* - they also focused on avoiding heavily defended areas like river crossings as they knew that NATO weapons superiority would make them too costly to capture.

Its obsolete, and only really needed for Recon assets and Amphibious assault units

*this is also one of the reasons that they were not overly concerned by the fact that the T-72 was a death trap, T-62M's were designed to go toe to toe with allied tanks in initial engagements, T-72's were designed to exploit break-troughs**
** yes, you are now aware that the T-62 is better than the T-72

There are wars across lakes too wide to bridge. In full rainy season and at it's peak, no bridge can span lake Chad, means Nigerian army cannot cross into Chad except by pontoons, like rafts ferrying armour across a huge lake....the enemy on the other side will be picking you off one by one like sitting ducks.

IFV were built amphibious for a good reason, the white man is not a fool like you who thinks it's no good because you have NONE grin grin

Nigerian army has about 1,000 amphibious armoured vehicles

We don't have any river we can not build a bridge over. Not to menstion you still need to move all the other support vehicles. A sa infantry battalion has any where from 80 to 100 support vehicles.

BTW, the British Army has just set up the 77 Brigade for this kind of warfare on social media etc.

World record of top 15 longest sniper kills includes 1,250m....top 15 kills, world record of top 15. Are you blind ?

You are broke. Your SANDF is getting nothing.
Operational test and Evaluation is ongoing.

Production will start soon, the contract for the supply of the 200+ vehicles has been signed. The SANDF is simply waiting for delivery.

The project.

Not development of the system.

Many vehicles were offered.

The project defined the concept of the vehicle, reason why the Badger design is an obsolete 18 year old IFV concept grin

the vehicles are developed for the army, with army funding.

They belong to the army.

Part of SA arsenal.

Nope, DENEL funded and owns the Badger. Army only buys finished products.

Did SANDF fund development of Mokopa ATGM and now refuse to buy it, while DENEL has exported same to another country. How many weapons development projects can your broke army afford to fund development and still fund purchases ? Fool .

M23 was mostly in their bases and camps, they are not terrorists using human shields inside peoples homes and streets.

You've brought your entire arsenal against BH, but during open engagements your army units crumble easily.

Entire arsenal? We have not shelled Boko with Howitzers and rocket launchers like we did in Liberia.

Do heavy calibre artillery shelling in Nigeria and kill 5,000 civilians collateral damage, BBC will say 1 million people died

Just close your mouth please. Denel got the Badger money from Armscor. Armscor is responsible for issuing funds on behalf of the SANDF. Some Denel projects are internally funded, others are funded with international partners, others are funded from Armscor.

Are your logiscal vehicles amphibious to, no they not. Have fun running out of fuel, food and ammo.

Our APC's include transporters like MT-LB with cabin for logistic supplies, they are amphibious and can shuttle between HQ and FOB

How do you think amphibious armoured brigades get supplies across water? Mumu

fact remains that in the last 100 years America has fought no single war alone

American wars are big, they span large nations and regions, that would involve multiple armies because of alliances and NATO protocol.

SANDF fights tiny wars like the one in Bangui....13 hours is your army's maximum endurance grin

In a massive factory. Not by army engineers.

ERA is not a upgrade. It a box that gets strapped on. Same has add on armour and slat armour. These are done in Mobil workshops. But a full upgrade of armour is done in a refit no a field workshop.

Your answers are off the point of my question.

I said armies upgrade and change tank armour, simple fact. Stop twisting.

Project was frozen until 2007, when it was re-started under Army Vision 2020

The new generation infantry combat vehicle is meant to slot into the SA Army’s Vision 2020, announced earlier in 2007 by Chief of the SA Army, Lt-Gen. Solly Shoke.

No fool. 1997 a need was identified to replace the Ratels. Military top brass and Armscor put out a set of FUTURE requirments they want the item to have and put it out on tender. Companies bid, show what current technology they have and what future capabilities they will have. Once a company gets a contract (Denel Land Systems - 2010) the design will still change and morph with current technology up until all requirements are met. Very simple logic which you clearly dont understand. Do you think design are etched in stone?

Look at when the A Darter missile program was started. The designers knew they would be working to achieve future requirements and their concept would change as it went along. Hence the A Darter is practically the most agile air to air missile today. 90g turns.... very few missiles come even close.

Augubugubu is obsessed with ERA.

Do you know the Ingwe missile can slice through a tank with ERA?

Nigeria's new batch of T-72 M1 tanks arriving from Czech next week have double ERA and 90% capability of a T-90 tank

12 have allready been delivered with 37 more on the way as we speak

The total contract to the consortium is R 8.3 billion. An initial R 1.048 billion order was placed in 2007 to develop a prototype of each variant, followed by 12 pre-production vehicles.

http://www.defenseindustrydaily.com/denel-patria-building-south-africas-next-ifv-03317/

Cry more delicious tears

Lol, you need to cry sweet tears for a dream IFV not in service after 18 years delay grin

There is no 37 Bagders inside factory process as we speak, no money, SANDF is broke ! No 10 Billion Rands to pay, no cash !

Now you say 12 units in service, but three of you Southies just posted this morning that you have only 5 units produced for tests.

You see how dreams can be like hypnotism ? grin

Proof the badger is garbage.

We have 5 pre producstion Badgers.

5 Badgers at 7 AM today, 12 Badgers at 11 AM today, express factory production of extra 7 units in 4 hours...na like baking bread in oven ?
