here we go with the usual boasting ! A reasonable and peogressive individual decided to get everyones opinion on sellable igbos, this other ipob fool is starting that "we don't have anything to do with the zoo" nonsense. As far as i am concerned, politics is a game of bonding, calculation and trickery. How can you bond when you have "cursed" out othersthese candidates that the OP mentioned have no National appeal at all except maybe Obi. With the igbos normal shennanigans and Igbos mess (ipob has set back igbos because ppl now cant trust them to lead this country) igbos need triple effort in having someone with a NATIONAL appeal and not regional one.

We don’t even want igbos anywhere near our seat of power. If igbos near power in Nigeria, Nigerians might just go crazy. cheesy

It is better they fight for Biafra.

You all will be deceiving yourself if you think the PDP will field igbo person as VP candidate. why do you think Fayose and Wike sold the Yoruba man (Prof. Adeniran) out of PDP chairmanship position? it is to clear way for Fayose as VP. .They don't want the Chairmanship and VP position to come from the same region. The highest postion igbo will settle for is senate president. as for now, the VP position will go to SW using Fayose.

First, PDP chairman is from South South not South East, so there is nothing about same region for chairman and VP you erroneously mentioned there.

Secondly, South West already has the position of Vice Chairman (South) in PDP. South East has only 2 insignificant positions in the entire exco. You know why South Easterners didn't bother grabbing positions in PDP?

Thirdly, South East has a significant regional influence in PDP next to South South, and has suffered the most as a result of voting for PDP in this present government. South West has only Ekiti as a PDP state, therefore they carry very little weight.

Fourthly, vice presidency cannot just go to the south west again after having it under APC. Also Fayose isn't such a sellable candidate nationally.

Let's even assume they give it to Fayose, there isn't any big deal. One thing you should realise is that Igbos aren't so much desperate for that presidency not to talk of VP position. If we were, we would have decamped to APC in droves and will be supporting Buhari now, just for the chance of presidency by 2023.
By 2027, nobody will argue with the South East for their 'right' to produce the president.

I am 101% sure PDP will field a VP from South West to counter North + SW ticket in APC.

Leave mumu biafrans, they know nothing about politics, everything to them is emotions (no Igbo President since Jesus came, this and that as if anyone cares). Their eyes go clear in 2019.

I see PDP fielding their gburu gburu 1 of Ekiti tho. They don't pose any threat to the present government.
See this shameless things.i thought pdp is a no no in the southwest, now you are dragging pdp.smh.
the southwest is of no political value to the pdp-Wike.
fayose has no political value after 2018.

There is no denying the fact that the Buhari led APC administration who won the 2015 presidential elections on popular support has done fairly well; yet going by their campaign promises, it is far below expectations. Nigerians are sighing with disappointment more than 2 years on. This has opened the door to PDP to try to retake power come 2019. They have started this by trying to put their house in order, starting from their successful national convention to elect their leaders last weekend.

As expected, the PDP has zoned its presidential ticket to the north, and if feelers are anything to go by, then the south east might get the nod to produce the VP.

Which one person in the south east do you think enjoys national acceptance, either from the public or private sector who can help PDP retake power if given the VP slot.

My opinion: Add yours, or argue for and against the people below.

1) Osita Chidoka. Aside the fact that he seems clean, and scored points from the purists in the just concluded Anambra gubernatorial elections for his refusal to share money to voters, urging voters to vote their conscience, the former FRSC boss and Minister of Aviation is a very sellable candidate. His youthfulness, eloquence, vibrance, intelligence, and character will come to fore to help PDP as 2019 campaign gathers steam.

2) Dr Mrs Okonjo Iweala. The highly cerebral economist served two terms as finance minister of Nigeria (2003 - 2006, 2011 - 2015) and was previous managing director of the world bank (2007 - 2011). Perhaps her biggest achievement as Nigeria's finance minister was negotiating and securing the Paris club debt relief for Nigeria during her first stint as federal minister of finance.

She currently chairs the Board of Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) and the African Risks Capacity at WB. She's also a senior advisor at Lazard and is respected across the breadth of the country.

3) Oby Ezekwesili. A chattered accountant, she has served as Nigeria's minister of solid minerals and later, minister of education where she swept the ministry with far reaching reforms. She served as World Bank's VP, Africa Division from May 2007 - May 2012. She's also a tornado on the social media and her BBOG campaign support has earned her a nationalist personality and love from Nigerians who identify and sympathise with the plight of the Chibok girls and the ongoing problems facing North Eastern Nigeria.

4) Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo. Probably Africa's best brain in macro economics, he was appointed CBN Governor from May 29th 2004 to May 29th 2009 where his best work was bank capitalisation and consolidation, yielding 25 strong Nigerian banks from over 300 banks. He's presently a consultant to the UN and a visiting lecturer to several foreign universities. He still enjoys popular support among Nigerians as a brainy chap that can solve Nigeria's Balance of Trade problems in an economy heavily dependant on exportation.

5) Mr Peter Obi. Former Governor of Anambra state. He created an indelible legacy through ANIDS (Anambra Integrated Development Strategy) where all sectors where enjoying attention simultaneously. Famed for his frugality, he saved up an alleged 70 billion naira in cash and assets for Anambra state as stated in his handover notes. He enjoys popular support from Ndi Anambra, Igbos and Nigerians.

6) Senator Ike Ekweremadu. Nigeria's deputy senate president. There's no disputing the fact that he is a popular figure amongst his colleagues, and enjoys some level of leadership and respect within the PDP structure. He has both the financial muscle and the goodwill across the country from his colleagues in the Red Chambers to mobilise support for PDP in 2019.

To be honest all this is a waste of time, An Ibo cannot become president or Vice president in this country for a long time.

why?

After the betrayal of GEJ, and with recent Biafra/IpOB events and agitations, where the rest of the country now know what is in the heart of the SE, the North is never going to trust them with the presidency or the Vice (just in case president dies).

In this country you dont have elections, the powers that be determine who will be president. The powers that be aligned with Obasanjo when it was in the interest of the North and they felt they could trust him, The powers that be aligned with Buhari when it was in the interest of the North and they were betrayed by GEJ. The same powers that be will never align with a SE candidate for president or VP not with the recent events and agitations. Once the powers that be back a candidate, it's game over for the opposition. You will be surprised how quickly the North will close ranks once there is a possibility of someone from the SE occupying the presidency.

Save this post and call me a bastard if it happens anytime soon.

Seems current PDP does not have regards for the importance of carrying the yorubas along and giving them a decent position, anyway you look at it an alliance with Yorubas has more guarantee than that with the northern crops of leaders that lacks followership that Pdp has. The North will still be the Winner at the end of the day and also dictate who becomes next president after north either concludes 2nd term and does 2 terms depending on party that wins next election.

For me, Bianca Ojukwu, Chukwuma Soludo, and Peter Obi are easily the most sellable persons from the SE.

Bianca and Soludo would be the ‘safest’ choices because although they are both technocrats, they also do not have a cult of political followeship or a huge political machinery that could challenge a President Atiku.

Bianca is a lawyer and has a Masters degree in International Relations. She also served as Nigeria’s ambassador to Spain for three years, from 2012-2015. She definitely has the requisite intellectual capacity and executive/foreign policy experience to be part of the PDP’s presidential ticket.

Peter Obi and Soludo will be long shots due to their charisma and political machine in Anambra. As the history of Nigerian politics has shown, with the exception of OBJ, the running mate has always been someone who is quiet and unassuming eg GEJ, Osinbajo, Ekwueme etc.

Then, if Atiku decides to serve only one term, Bianca owould be in a great position to run for the presidency in 2023.

The fact that the she has a masters and was an ambassador doesn't in itself day much!!

It amazed me how you guys just term whoever don't go with your views as Igbo, for your information I'm not igbo ,matter of fact I'm a northern Christian minority n not interested in your Yoruba vs Igbo media war OK,the SW deserved the PDP party chairmanship, they have already got an able VP in osibanjo,I doubt if a VP slot will cause the SW to really drop their support for APC,my assumptions are that since the PDP has basically got the SS n SE, giving the SW what they were really desperate for would have been a deft political move to weakened the APC base in the SW, giving that the PDP would also stand a strong chance in NC n NE with a NE/SE president/VP ticket. Mind you I'm not just supporting Atiku even though to me he is miles better than the package Buhari but I'm for a NE PDP presidency come 2019,justice n political reality demands it by my reckoning,it's just that presently Atiku appears the best option within PDP in the NE, you are free to hold your opinion but try to be a better person n stop been stereotype.

My own thought about this is that a Yoruba man should have bn given the party chairmanship position, maybe that would have cleared some hurdles for the party in the southwest region. But now that the Yoruba elites feel insulted by wike, I can clearly see the swords drawn out of their sheaths and it's gonna be bloody.........my last piece is that all of these shouldn't let us hate ourselves because afterall, these politicians are only after their own benefits.
