DrToche: It means the government is paying some amount of money to keep a price.. example, fuel is suppose to be at 185.7 but you buy at 145 per little Meaning goverment pays 40 naira already as subsidy 1 Like |

If i were a god i'd rain fire upon the selfish, clueless and corrupt ruling class of Nigeria, because when they are supposed to give us comfort that's when they give us pains and troubles. Turning our blessings (petroleum) to curses (scarcity). They're all cursed... 1 Like |

EsotericMonk: Whoever you vote....he or she is going to meet the import price of fuel at N171....and he or she is going to have a choice 1.Continue with N145 or go to N87 and waste millions on subsidy.... 2.Or deregulate...yes people will pay N200 and above, but eventually investment and competition will bring prices down. But you people want cheap fuel....even at the expense of the jobs of nigerians in the petrol sector. GEJ tried...you people protested....so we went back to a bad policy to keep people like you happy. Now...oil is at $65...we need it at $123 to afford your subsidy Here is why we should deregulate. The diagram below was made in 2015... 1 Like

What happened to APC campaign promise to revive the 4 refineries. What about modular refineries in the Niger Delta. Stealing of money through fuel subsidy has just shifted gear. Money is needed for 2019 elections to buy votes. |

9jakohai: The problem with your argument is, Nigeria is an oil producing country. There is no freaking way Nigerians should paying as much as a country that does not have oil. It makes no sense. It is akin to a farmer who has thousands of tubers of yam and decides to go to the market to go buy the same yam he has. Does that make sense to you. That being said, the reason all facets of like life in Nigeria has stalled is because of how corrupt it's people are. If that doesn't change more woes will definitely befall the country. |

phayvoursky: You do know the solution to the petrol is to deregulate the price and end the subsidy which will shoot up the price towards 200 per litre. Are you okay with that? Are you ready to accept that? 1 Like |

kolafolabi: What is wrong is when you refuse to allow deregulation in the name of cheap fuel...forcing marketers to make Hobbes choice...sell at a loss,or increase prices What is is when you refuse to let the N145 go...and force NNPC and govt to pay a subsidy that is prone to abuse..because you want cheap fuel What is wong is when we had a chance to remove the thing in 2012...you people came out on the streets, and said it was a burden. So we kept a subsidy that was unsustainable in the long run. It is your right , and I think you should vote out APC. But stop denying the fact...either we deregulate, or we stagnate |

9jakohai:Your argument is dully noted sir, but this was the same story line sold to us two years ago just that they made it sweeter by telling us the money saved from subsidy @87 naira would be used to JumpStart the economy, refurbish our refineries within 9months and provide surplus fuel all round the year. Can you honestly say they have come close to achieving any of these? Things are even worse off than they were then. If they can't be accountable with little, what makes you think they would be accountable with much? After pushing blames to falling global oil prices, blaming militant activities, blaming past administration, they're out of options on who to blame. We need to be honest with our peculiarities and stop deceiving ourselves. |

Bollinger: Nigeria is an oil producing country that has 170 million people, compared to other oil producing countries that have less than 20 million each. We produce 1 million barrels less than the UAE and 7 million less than Saudi Arabia....who have populations less than 10 million people. That is why we aren't a rich country at all. And that is why we really should go industrial. Like China. |

well, I'm being inclined to say this. I'll give u guys the solution to our fuel problem and you guys can thank me later. the solution to our fuel problem and Nigeria problem to an extent is our refineries. while deregulation of our downstream sector will go a long way, it's still a temporary solution, the final solution is to get all refineries up an running, modular or private, chevron, shell, oando, mobil etc instead of just dangote alone which to me looks a little suspicious and political, encourage them all to have refineries and not just exploration of oil. that is the final solution to all our fuel problems. that way we will never bother about importation of fuel since we can get it locally and maybe even export. if thay is done, bye bye to subsidy and fuel hike, and say welcome to lots of money which can be diverted to other sector of the economy and watch Nigeria grow. |

bettercreature: So because price of oil went up, it wasn't removed again? I wonder if some of you read what you write. Last year they claimed subsidy was removed another claim came out that it wasn't removed. The oil price was low. So what's your excuse for this inept government? 2 Likes |

EagleScribes:So you can do what? The best you can do is change the people in government, but the process will remain the same. Even that messiah you have in mind will come in and start doing the same thing. Take a look at Rochas, in the end, they all succumb. |

9jakohai: Do all 170 million people have vehicles? The number of vehicles on Nigerian roads is less than 12 million. Plus, the reason Nigeria is not a rich country is because of how corrupt the country is. It is the reason why it cannot manage it's resources effectively and never will. Corruption breeds waste and no nation can survive or grow in that kind of atmosphere. Even if it does deregulate, it will not make a dent in the fortunes of it's citizens. What with the way it's leaders and people embrace corrupt practices. |

WebSurfer: You think Dangote will make things easier? Bros better wake up. Before he ventured into cement we all thought that would be the game changer. Today we buy cement almost at double the price in the international market. Paying over #2billion on a daily basis is the height of stupidity as nation. Can that money be used to set up modular refinery in each state even if the modular refinery can only break even it will be a big win considering the jobs that will be created. |
