That is not an excuse.

Buhari should give it a trial and ensure that it can be imported through the Eastern ports so that traffic jam at Apapa wharf won't hinder the flow of the product all over the country.
Buhari should give total deregulation of petrol, a trial? Without putting in place measures to prevent inflation from spiralling out of control, or measures to halt prices of goods and services from reaching the skies? Do you even understand the pros and cons surrounding deregulation of petrol?

Well, unless he is ready and willing to increase workers wages at the same time, to cushion the effect of such inflation....then he may take your advice.

you are funny oh! So if they buy at 145 they should sell at 240? that is a pure definition of exploitation do the maths! 95naira profit per litre meaning they make 3.8million a day on a good day to the detriment of the poor! if you can’t do the business it’s not by force but don’t come and be exploiting people and then play victim it’s a service not a get rich quick scheme

Spin the wheel as you want.

If you read my posts, you would have understood I mentioned NNPC depots, NNPC price and trucking, not the amount per litre you wrote.

Good comprehension is important

Sprumbabafather, I greet you.
Let us assume we the Igbos are being marginalized. The simple question is ‘whose fault?’ The problem with us is lack of unity; the Igbos don’t have one voice. When Mr. A is saying ‘Yes’, Mr. B will be saying ‘No’ because of his selfish interest.
Not less than one month now, the federal government signed $1b for the fight of Boko Haram and a few days later the Niger Deltans began to agitate for theirs. One voice: irrespective of whether the voice is for a good cause or not.
The Enugu NNPC depot at Emene is just a stone throw away from my house in Enugu. I know the havoc the shutting down of that depot has caused; from the issue of unemployment down to the scarcity of petroleum products in the South-East.
Imagine shutting down the Abuja NNPC depot or the Warri depot... And the only reason for shutting Enugu NNPC depot is due to pipeline vandalism. BIG LIE!!!
Are the pipelines used to supply other depots invincible ? Don’t they vandalize other pipelines ? Can’t the measures put in place to safeguard other pipelines be administered to the only NNPC depot in the South-East ?
It is quite unfortunate that majority ( though not all ) of the Igbos are self-centered...beginning from the deputy senate president, who is from Enugu.
I remember reading somewhere ( online newspaper ) in 2014/2015, that measures will be put in place to revive the Enugu NNPC depot. Only for a fresh government to come into power and PUFFFF!!!!
So many things I would have love to say about this topic... please, let’s do something about it

Everything good that was about to happen in the south east was truncated when a new government took over.

2nd Niger bridge

NNPC Depot Enugu

Never mind the Depot had been out of action for only 12 years before today's government. The one that matters is the government in power today.

Never mind that the president was threatened and warned not to visit the east until a few months ago.

Never mind that the cockroaches and rats would have infested the depot are ancestors now.

Never mind that the 2nd Niger bridge was commisoned in the form of a paper print.

You cannot deregulate before refineries become functional. Knowing that as Nigerians, we cannot protect public institutions and the only kind of refineries that can function would be private.

The summary is no deregulation until Dangote hits the market. Otherwise the price per litre would spiral out of control.

You people are talking of marketers selling N200-N250 in the SE...what about those selling N400 in the North and Lagos?

My anger with Buhari is on this matter is his failure to set up Medium scale refineries as achieved by the Biafrans during the war.

Ojukwu, despite air, sea and land blockade, never had shortage of fuel.

This is one of the reasons why I see Buhari as disastrous idiot.

What Ojukwu achieved in the late 60s, Buhari can't achieve in this modern era.

Shame unto Buhari.

65 modular refinery licenses were issued when Buhari came into government in 2015 if I remember right.

Since the inception of privatisation and commercialisation government has moved away from setting up businesses .

The blame should be at the foot of private investors who have done nothing so far.

Good comprehension is important

Good comprehension is as important as clarity. I must say I’m Lost cos I read clearly the word “depot”, so could it be that you misconstrued an NNPC filling station as a depot? A healthy argument is one to learn from so I’ll be glad if you can explain what you just said first to yourself and then to me! Cos it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever Or maybe I truly have a problem with comprehension.

Please don’t take this as an attack on your person, it’s only an attack on your views which are a bit shitty thanks..

But the South East claim they have Oriental oil. Why cant they just build a refinery and sell oil at the price they want?
by law all refined PMC must go to nnpc for distribution..same in power sector thts why no magic will work on those sectors until govt totally deregulates

Is it impossible to repair the NNPC depot at Emene which had broken down since the past 14 years? Why must south east marketers be made to buy petrol in Warri, PH and Lagos.

This is marginalisation.
when your man was there what did you do. Why do all your men build depot in Lagos. Abi your petrol owners are northerners

The truth is that arranging funding for such endeavours takes a lot of time, effort and money. Our local banks cannot finance a modular refinery from start to finish by themselves. The cost of financing and interest rate alone, would kill the project. So license owners need international funding, at low interest single-digit rates. And this brings us back to a Catch-22 situation. International funding for such projects would be difficult to get, until the market is fully deregulated. Unless the owners of such licenses can show the international financiers in clear terms, that they can not only run such refineries effectively, but can also turn a profit, even under the current atmosphere of non-deregulation. sad

It is difficult, but not impossible. Afterall, Niger Delta Exploration & Production Plc (NDEP), an independent oil exploration company successfully set up its own modular refinery about 7 years ago. It wholly operates a mini refinery at Ogbele in the Delta, with a current slated capacity of 1,000bpd generating revenues of USD 1 million per month. The company is planning to expand capacity five-fold to 5,000bpd as part of a two to five year plan, which would run at 60% operational efficiency rate, and generate revenues greater than US$ 3 million dollars per month, or US$36 million dollars, per annum. undecided They currently produce diesel and kerosene, but are planning to produce petrol shortly.

The quantity of diesel produced at their Ogbele refinery, increased from 5,329,981 litres (in 2013) to 15,689,343 litres (in 2014).

Can you tell me the name of the igbo man who has used his selfish interest to stop pumping fuel to the NNPC depot?

If you cannot mention his name, then you are a big goat for blaming your brother for a problem inflicted on you by people from other regions.

So, you now have what we call a double warning. NNPC is suddenly finding its importing what they probably didn’t expect in terms of volume and the fact that Nigerians themselves are consuming more volume that they will normally consume in earlier months.

He also re-iterated on the fact that neighboring countries are selling fuel at more that $1 per liter. Of which $1 in Nigeria today is about N360.

"Couple with the fact that the countries that are surrounding us as a nation are all selling fuel at more than $1 per liter. $1 today is about N360. If you go to Cotonou, Ghana, Niger so is is not unlikely that some of our petrol is finding itself across the body to these countries".
