THE Muslim community in Ekiti State has stated that it will not settle for anything position lesser than the deputy governor in the coming electoral dispensation in the state.

Rising from a congress of Muslim Community of Ekiti State, held at the Central Mosque, Ado Ekiti, on Thursday, the Muslims said in a communique that “the Congress also resolved that Muslims in the state will not accept less than Deputy Governor from any political party in the state”.

At the meeting convened by the President-General, League of Imams and Alfas (South-West Nigeria, Edo and Delta States), Sheikh Jamiu Kewulere Bello, the Muslims said they adopted in its entirety, the position of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) on what it said was the marginalisation of Muslims in appointments in the state.

In the communique signed by Alhaji Kewulere Bello, the Congress said it “reviewed the position earlier canvassed by the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) on the marginalisation of Ekiti Muslims in the recently made Federal appointments and adopts it in its entirety”.

They also warned that any member of the community who went against the decision of the entire body would be sanctioned.

They also warned that “Muslims including women were encouraged to be active in all the political parties they belong to in their various communities”.

The Congress, which was chaired by the president-general of the League of Imams and Alfas, was attended by various Islamic leaders in the state and groups, including the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), led by Alhaji Yaqub Oladoro Sanni; the Chief Missioner of Ansar-Ud-Deen Society, Ekiti State, Sheikh Abdussalam Babatunde; Chief Mufti of Ekiti State, Sheikh Zakariyau Oluwagbadurami and Chief Imams of about 100 towns and villages in the state.

Also present at the congress were the leadership and members of Federation of Muslim Women Associations of Nigeria (FOMWAN); National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations (NACOMYO); Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN); NASFAT, QAREEB, YOUMBAS, FEMCON, ADYAN, ISBON, MYAN and other notable organisations in the state.

The three posters above me are self acclaimed to be of the feminine gender.Unfortunately, none could atleast render an intellectual submission concerning the thread. . .SMH.

To the topic. . .

Are these people mad? When did SouthWest turn to their Islamic enclave where they blackmail and give ultimatums? Well, the Nigeria constitution does NOT in any of its section stipulate religious affiliation as a prerequisite for Public office.

Join a political party, draw your manifesto and test your popularity during election.

Anything short of this is DEAD BEFORE ARRIVAL.
