Curse of the black gold. When a country relies too much on oil money. Like Nigeria, like Venezuela.

The hunger in Venezuela is terrible, and its exactly what Buhari is planning for Nigerians

Bubu did two things Maduro and Chavez didn't

1. Grow our reserves from $28 bn in 2016 to 40 bn today.

2. Bring in forex and import restrictions when oil price was too low to sustain things.

This would have been Nigeria's situation if we had allowed "stealing is not corruption" to continue. We were on a dire straits times. Prudent management of very limited resources, plugging corruption loopholes and diversification efforts made us avert this crisis.

This current crisis is directly related to the drop in oil prices. Even advanced economies like Canada's Alberta felt it.

It's actually a fallout of socialism in Venezuela. While economies like Alberta's that you nmentioned and Nigeria's took a huge hit, they have survived because of capitalism. If Nigeria had been socialist like Venezuela, what we are experincing now would be child's play comapred to the alternative. We are crying in Nigeria and we aren't socialist. Let that sink in for a minute.

A good percentage of Venezuelans are mixed . But a good number are white.

Chavez was of mixed African, European and Native American descent. Maduro is white, as is the opposition leader Capriles

Thousands of desperate Venezuelans are trying to enter Colombia in a bid to escape the hunger and soaring crime rate caused by the spiralling economic crisis.

Incredible pictures show the mass exodus of refugees crossing the Simon Bolivar international bridge trying to flee the political crisis threatening to engulf Venezuela.

Colombia along with its neighbour Brazil has sent extra soldiers to patrol their porous border with the country after officially taking in more than half a million migrants over the last six months of 2017.

The country is also tightening its border controls in a bid to stem the flow.

The dire economic conditions have led to lawlessness in parts of Venezuela's capital Caracas, with truck drivers subjected to 'Mad Max' violence as looters target heavy goods vehicles carrying food.

Venezuela don cast.

Nigeria is very peculiar. We are almost in the same situation with them but we turning out better after oil prices picked up again, at least comparing both countries.

Same way we survived, albeit with pains the same economic situation that upturned Argentine economy and sent the entire country into deep recession they are still battling.
Nigeria is still a very terrible place, Nigerians haven't left like the Venezuelans because all our neighbouring countries are still d
bleeped.

You dey craze. It is your father that is a zombie. Before Your god GEJ left office, we bought fuel for 700 naira per liter. Billions were owed as subsidy payments to marketers. There was no diesel, kerosene and petrol. Banks were closing at 1pm, 24hrs radio stations were shutting down before midnight. churches halved their service durations. Telecommunications companies like MTN, AIRTEL, GLO et al were sending us text messages to bear with them for disruptions in service as there isn't enough diesel to power their masts and cell stations. PMB cleared these debts and restored normalcy in a few weeks of assumption of power. All these we remembered vividly like it is yesterday. But in your bid to lick the shit off the butt of your failed god GEJ chose to ignore or 'mis present' the truth.
It will just be better for you to stick to issues you are conversant with. Abunu.

We are not as bad as Venezuela for the following reasons

1. We saved money. Venezuela's reserves are at $10bn and falling. Nigeria is at 40 billion and rising.

2.We don't import as much as they do. Venezuela imports everything including chickens, and toiletroll. Nigeria does not...even though we do rely a bit too much on importing stuff, it isn't as much as Venezuela. We make most of the toiletroll used in this country for example.

3.Venezuela subsidizes everything, ie govt sets prices for everything making it difficult for people to make a profit. I know Bubu is not a good economist, but apart from PMS, he won't tell companies like Nestle, Guinness, etc how much they must sell their products.

4. Venezuela has no import restrictions. In Nigeria, we have import restrictions, whereas Venezuela just imports everything, and sets the prices.

5.Venezuela did not implement forex restrictions. Nigeria did when oil prices crashed to $30 and below. Now, we have reserves, Venezuela nil.

6.Venezuelan oil is very expensive to extract.Mostly because most of it is offshore, and it has a high sulphur content.Nigerian oil has zero sulphur. And it is light, and is mostly produced on land.

In a way, we can commend Bubu for two moves made ...ie forex restrictions and growing the reserves. Domestic manufacturing we can thank Gowon for ...ie the National development plans.Diversification.. GEJ and even Bubu.
u try small

In your warped estimation, if Canadians are not crossing the borders in their thousands it means the fall in oil prices had no effect on their economy. No be so?

Nigerians also are not heading to the borders in their thousands with their belongings on their heads, does that mean the fall in oil prices had no effect on our economy?

Must you always reach for the extreme in order to reach an illogical conclusion?

Do you agree that it's the socialist experiment by the Maduros that caused this crisis? Yes, low crude oil prices has its part, but Venezuela is not the only country that experienced low oil prices. A country that regulates what shopping malls sell and their prices? It's South America's Zimbabwe!

Yet another reason why socialism is not workable!

What socialist nonsense are you talking about? Is Indonesia also a socialist country? Are some other OPEC countries also socialists?
