The claim that government don't provide jobs Nigeria youths are lazy even most of them if you give them work they will not do .some people trying to score political cheap use the statement of Mr president to manoeuvre their way to aso rock .

Those who refused the jobs are still cool, some will take the job to steal and ruin their employers.
My uncle was fleeced to the tune of 25m by the sales reps working for him and they are all young people.
Not all, but Nigerian youths are obsessed with becoming rich overnight, they love get rich quick business the danger and the risks notwithstanding.
Imagine those selling their kidneys for money, some girls in the hotels in my hood are identified as undergraduates of a particular higher institution, and the funny thing is, calls will be coming in from their lecturers to update them on the situation on the campus.

Yes 80% of Nigerians youth are Lazy....
The point here is, are most Nigerian youths actually lazy
And my answer is YES.
*How many of our youths today creates enough time to pay

*Why would an Engineer, Pharmacist, Lawyer, etc graduate

when they can actually establish something on their own

*If they are not lazy, they are not creative.
*How many Nigerian youths owns mansions, big cars, very

A typical Nigerian youth today roams the streets with

clubs, spending money with no single legitimate source or
sources of income.
In Nigeria today, over 85% of suspects arrested for robbery
and other criminal activities are within the age brackets of
15 to 35, purely youths.
*Must Nigerian youths wait for everything from

i love the opp,you are 100% correct, many Nigerian youth are lazy.

see them complaining about having idea and no one to sponsor, who in this world give money to an unproven idea, most investors give money to working idea,Facebook started getting funding when they prove the concept worked by using Facebook among his friends in Harvard,he started small, iroko TV also got funding when he proof the concept can work in nigeria.
you see Nigerian youth love to be spoon fed, they want to start big, they compare american with Nigeria forgetting that we are thousands of miles apart and in a different continent.

sorry to say, instead of them reflecting they are complaining and abusing everybody, the truth is Many of them will be poor like their fathers or grand father because many youth are not ready to take the risk and do something meaningful with their life, the only stuff they do well is complain and attack other people with pure facts,i know only those who are emotional and not logical will attack this post.

My great hope is on those few hard working Nigerian youths doing legal business or working in a company without trying to defraud their employers, when the time comes, this hard working youths will discriminate and separate from the lazy ones who are quick to criticize instead of reflecting on the statement.

I just wish many youth will take this time to reflect and to think about every thing ,i am a youth like you and i understand what is it to create a business,it takes time and dedication,i also did search for jobs didn't get one and i decided to start selling bags of pure water in my area with the little money of 5000,i borrowed from my dad, now,i have a small pure water factory,i it can be stressful sometimes but how many youth can do this,in life you need shamelessness to be successful.

My advice to our youth is instead of complaining, reflect on what the president said even though he was misquoted and many didn't watch the real interview but are here complaining, think about the message, their are many youth in the north, south east and west, just observe, you will see the pure laziness in them, they are comfortable collecting the politician money when election comes, ready to kill for 5000 naira and ready to destroy infrastructures, think about the message and you will understand everything about Nigeria and its youth.

I Welcome the debate resulting from the President's assessment of the Nigerian youth. I do not agree that all Nigerian youths are lazy but I wish I don't have to worry about several others. In the Niger Delta where I spend much time, several youths harass trucks, tippers and lorries bringing value to the area for money. Some others are vandalizing oil pipelines or waiting for Amnesty hand-out. You cannot bring capital to invest in any community without paying youths. Businesses are folding up and leaving because they can not cope with the extortion.

In the North, the Almajiri factor is there; no focus, no career, no identity and no future.

If I was the President, I won't make such comments in public because government shares in the blame. Governments have not created enabling infrastructure for the promotion of skills and entrepreneurship. Paying youths to snatch the mace and rig elections is not empowerment. It is a challenge to the Nigerian youth. Instead of venting, take up the challenge.

Op you have a point, but your point is highly flawed.

If a Nigerian youth goes to school and comes out with a degree why would he want to become a carpenter, it does not make sense.

Secondly, people on bet9ja, yahoo yahoo are not lazy they are just channelling their time and strength into the wrong thing. Being lazy outright means you are not doing anything and in Nigeria if you don't hustle you will die and that's a fact.

Thirdly, go abroad and see the youths in well to do countries they are in a sense worse than us, when you have benefits for free and free health care, these youths only work because the work is available.

Look at it this way, if Nigerians were lazy, we would have already had our own Arab spring because we wouldn't be able to go on... screaming no job and all that. How many protests do we have in this country. Abroad, any small thing they protest. Here in Nigeria when you say protest, there's no time fkr that because most youths wouldn't participate because they have something else to do.

As long as you are striving no matter what you do then I don't believe you can be called lazy, be it, the right thing or otherwise, the wrong thing.

You made a point about Nigerian youths should become entrepreneurs, for a matter of fact we have enough of them already, why do you think we have so many fashion designers, bloggers et al.

Lastly, I believe being lazy and not having the right opportunities are two very distinct things, look at Nigerians in the diaspora, aren't they flourishing, with the same opportunities. Was it not last year buhari congratulated the surgeon who performed a heart transplant or was it a brain transplant abroad.

Or was it last year or two years ago that story came out about a lay Mechanic in Nigeria who fashioned a vehicle that could move both on land and in water.

If you have time op and anyone else who would read this comment, type on Google '50 Nigerian fin-tech start ups'. I am sure a lot of you wouldn't have heard about 45 of them.

My two cents

...I attended a bank of industry program where they shared that they received 11,000 business proposals from youth corp members alone.
what businesses.how many were farm based?
cannot put cart before horse agric then industrial revolution.
which business can thrive without purchasing power
how do you raise purchasing power without manufacturing
how do you manufacture without electricity
how do you afford billion naira gas turbines
agric doesn't need electricity and is cheap and fast but youth don't want to go to farm cos there is no club in village, this is the laziness

Hello my fellow young man, from what you wrote up there it either you're collecting some change from the government or you just decide to troll.

Read books to widen your horizon, something happened in cotonou last 2weeks, rain fell and transformer blew in the night, i thinking there isn't gonna be light again, i woke up the next morning to see that there is light, could this happen in Nigeria, or Canada providing free health care for it citizens or U. S. A that provides it citizen loans to youths to set up themselves ever uttered this demeaning statement, read about what other nations are doing for their citizens, widen your horizon, don't wait for lai Mohammed to give you information..

Seconded.. truth be told Nigerian youths are not given anything but they try to make the most of what little they find to get by...this is plain simple truth

The other thing is the failure of youths is only a reflection of the educational system itself you cannot compare what is being taught now to what some of us where being taught in our own time which is not so long ago. The whole educational system is in total shambles the curriculums are an outdated maze! Let's not even talk of the infrastructure and teaching aids in the school...and yes I mean at all levels...

Frankly I don't blame Yahoo Yahoo boys not that I am in support of it but what do you expect to achieve when you have all these young minds running around and u fail to get them engaged in something anything at all...the idle mind is still the devils favourite workshop! I will give an example in more forward countries at 18 if is expected that u are out of your parents house solely responsible for your life...now u decide if u want to further ur education university level after which you decide how u intend to pay (note that ur parents have left u now to ur fate) now there is the option of taking what is called a student loan from the government which you will begin to pay back once u graduate and get a job! So please tell me when this young man graduated would he have time for Yahoo or stupid parties or drugs all he is thinking about is how to pay back his loans while still fending for himself.

Further the youths are challenged and given all the best opportunities from young age to thrive eg in Japan the students consider going to university holiday just go and read about Japan youth development programmes...the governmentcreates every Avenuefor them to succeed that's why crime rates are so low in Japan who has time to be pick pocketing..

Further what role models do we have any more anyway is it dino malaye or Buhari himself! No mentorship whatsoever it's like an alligator kingdom!
There are so many ways the govt could have engaged the youths but time again they have failed. Besides who really gets anywhere without knowing an uncle who knows an uncle in Nigeria today all the jobs have been take by ministers children!

I am disgusted that this is how this ingrates feel after we voted them into power they cant boast a any single project they have successfully completed always jumping from one party to another yet we who in Martin Luther king's words, boots they have taken are expected to pull ourselves up with our bootstrings! That's a cruel joke
neyobills:

You are obviously the intellectual lazy one here and in my own opinion I would say 90% of Nigerian youths are hardworking than delusional people like.

Its so sad this is coming from one of the laziest commanders in chiefs that ever ruled the country, the same person who rather spends months on medical vacation overseas and prefers to work from home while is he around,he definitely needs to take crash a crash course on PR because his statements abroad are undiplomatic and counter productive to the country at large.

The question you should be asking yourself is how many of buharis mate got a bachelors degree at all,the problem we have in this country is the older generation and folks like u who enjoyed better opportunities back in those days and have successfully destroyed such opportunities due to greed which is the motivation of the older generation.

Many of these people enjoyed free education to start with and I can vividly remember back in the days, getting a job as a bachelors degree holder was way too easy and guess what it comes with mouth watering allowances and loans of getting a brand new car,do such opportunities still exist in today's Nigeria.

The British left a standard legacy of quality and free education but the likes of Buhari ruined it,check out the quality of building in many of the old missionary built schools around the country and compare them to what our older generation want for us and you will see the difference is clear, some of the facilities in most of these missionary colleges can compete favorably with some universities today.

You logic is biased and I'm beginning to have doubts u are really sound upstairs,u want fresh graduate of professional courses such as engineering, pharmacy and medicine to set up soon as they graduate, with which money,is the government providing start up loans for graduates,I can't even believe any sane person is asking how many youths are artisans like bricklayers etc except u are living in a bubble like your president or just been delusional.

Oh so u think okada riding is quick cash, really I would be more than glad to buy one for u just as a research project so u can ride it for 3 months for free and then u will know what it means to be on the bike for half a day,I mean did a human being type this trash or some spam robot cos u are just unbelievable.

Oh so u have problems with seeing youths roam the streets hustling to provide for what failures like u couldn't offer them,as if its a crime to have a girlfriend and hit the bar and club if u can afford it,why are u surprised there is a high youth percentage in crimes, are u not the same person who want fresh medical graduates to build hospitals of their own soon as they done with school,do u really have anything still ticking upstairs at all?

Pls just don't bring the US into this because this is a country that has a standerd welfare program for all while Nigeria has a totally non existent welfare structure so there is no basis for comparison whatsoever and about the BET9JA thing u are obviously uninformed and ignorant as sports betting is a way of life in sane climes and its not necessarily a youth thing, visit casinos in Vegas and see rich folks way older than u can ever imagine gambling their hearts away.

Nigerian youths are very talented and I see talents wasting away every where I turn,in contrast to your logic, its the responsibility of the government to give the youths education,India akso has a high population of youths and they send their best on scholarship to the US and UK and Europe to study,I mean millions of them, why can't Nigeria tow that line,India is now a force to reckon with in the world take it or leave it.

There isn't anything wrong in the government giving freebies in form of welfare to the youths either,if the Saudis,Qatari youth's who are also dependent on oil can enjoy freebies why not Nigerians, meanwhile I have never seen any Nigerian waiting for the government for housing, when they can't even provide portable water yet,you and your buhari are nothing but Ignorant and delusional dolts.

Yes 80% of Nigerians youth are Lazy....
The point here is, are most Nigerian youths actually lazy
And my answer is YES.
*How many of our youths today creates enough time to pay
attention in schools, study, read their books in higher
institutions?
What they care about mostly is how to manoeuvre their
ways to pass their exams.
*How many are actually in schools where you kept them,
not minding how you labour to pay their fees?
*How many of Nigerian youths are into Yahoo, yahoo plus,
human rituals, prostitutions at tender age?
But to be realistic, 80% of our Nigeria Youths are Lazy.....
*If not why would they prefer been used as thugs, than
contesting.
*Why would an Engineer, Pharmacist, Lawyer, etc graduate
and start searching for jobs that is no where to be found
when they can actually establish something on their own
and employ others.
*If they are not lazy, they are not creative.
*How many Nigerian youths owns mansions, big cars, very
expensive handsets while still searching for white collar
jobs, jobs in oil companies etc?
"How many of our youths can defend their discipline in
university certificate when employed?
*In a situation where your parents couldn't send you to
school due to poor background, how many youths today still
engaged themselves, serve as apprentices to artisans like
mechanic, bricklayers, carpenters, even to business shop
owners?
Okada ridding is presently their preference for quick cash,
with no plans for future.
A typical Nigerian youth today roams the streets with
girlfriends, browsing phones, visits drinking bars and night
clubs, spending money with no single legitimate source or
sources of income.
In Nigeria today, over 85% of suspects arrested for robbery
and other criminal activities are within the age brackets of
15 to 35, purely youths.
*Must Nigerian youths wait for everything from
government?
*Must they all be waiting for white collar jobs? American
said "Always think of what you can do for America and not
what America can do for you", how many Nigerian youths
believe in that?
*Is it a crime for Nigerian youths to have creative skills like
their counterparts in other nations and create jobs to assist
the government?
ARE NIGERIAN YOUTHS NOT LAZY.
JUST TELL SOME NIGERIAN YOUTHS ABOUT "Bet9Ja",
THEN YOU ARE TALKING.
I am of the opinion that our youth of today needs serious
orientation, if not, I wonder the kind of future we are
creating for this beloved country Nigeria .

And you couldn't even structure nor paragraph a post you obviously copied from somewhere without referencing properly?
