You've actually mixed things up.

Both Android one and Go edition are from Google.

Google is so concerned about the security of its OS. The major disadvantage Android has over other operating system is security. The Android One is just the most secured form of android. It is android the way Google want it. The major advantage of Android one is that you get security updates every months and you can upgrade to at least the next 2 versions of android. The software will be secured by Google as the OEM has no right to alter it. It is the purest and to me, the best form of android.

Go edition of android is meant for phones with lower RAMs (1gb RAM and below). On this, all proprietary apps of Google on this comes in smaller sizes. You have the File go, YouTube Go, Gmail Go, Map Go, Chrome Go. This will help the phone against lagging, help improve stability and help save data.

Thanks...

Android One, unmodified pure android OS from google.(nothing concerns oem, regular sec patches directly from google)

Android Go, OEM customizable lightweight OS targeted at low end phones. (Started with android oreo to enable it run on even devices with 512mb ram n low storage like those annoying itel)
The android go installed on infinix hot 6 lite is a case study, the device runs smothly with just 1gb ram grin
hmm so does this means technology is taking a reverse gear? ie where one wouldnt need much higher specs phone since apps can be modified to run on the existing ones without increasing the rams or any other hardwares needed?
Re: What Is The Difference Between Android One And Android Go Edition by fibonacci2526: 9:03am On Jun 22, 2018
Androidone devices run on a vanilla Android like what you would find in the pixel and Nexus devices in the past, put simply if you want to enjoy a rich software like what you would find in the pixel devices, Androidone is the way.You are assured of 2years OS updates and 3yrs of security patches.

The Androidgo is simply an optimised version of Android os which is targeted at devices with lesser hardware like devices with 1gb,512mb ram etc so as to provide a seamless experience for the users. Normally a 1gb ram device will definitely face problem of hanging and terrible multi tasking but with Androidgo the apps, play services etc are fully optimised to ensure the user experience is seamless.

OEMs like infinix and Tecno that still produces phones with 1gb ran should just go with Androidgo.

For devices with Android One, Google actually offers software development services to manufacturers. So perhaps a handset maker like infinix is good at building hardware, marketing, and has retail experience, but they’re not good at software. In this case, Google offers them Android One and commits to sending updates and security patches for an agreed time period, directly to the handsets. Android One gives a stock Android experience.

Devices with Android Go doesn’t come directly from Google – Google sends it to a handset maker like Nokia, and then Nokia releases it. This also means that Nokia has to release updates and upgrades when they’re pushed out from Google, adding in a delay that isn’t there with stock or Android One.

FOR WHICH ONE IS BETTER all depends on what you can afford. A device with a low Specification like 8GB of storage and 1GB of RAM is batter running on Android Go.

While devices with with Specifications like 16GB of storage and 2GB of ram is better running on Android One
Mr too know!

Android go edition is specifically made for phones like itel who keep shiiting phone with 500mb RAM to the marketundecided

So google decide to make Android go edition for them, while Android one is for mid range and high range phone so that them can get Android update up to 2years.

Your opinion is needed here...

Stock Android: Found on Pixel, Nexus phones. They get Android directly from Google. Any form of update comes directly from google and this version of Android is called vanilla android with no skins whatsoever

Android One: Originally launched by Google to target low end phones but now it is found on most mid range phones (hence why Android Go was later launched). Google provides the software to OEM's while OEM's make the hardware. Its more targeted to OEM's that are not good in making their own software so they only make the hardware and get software directly from google, again no skins. Google provide updates to these phones over a period of time.

Android GO: This replaced the original Android one project. It is a watered down version of Android aimed at low end phones. It comes out of the box with fewer apps than traditional Android and there are special apps like Gmail GO, Youtube GO, etc which are lighter and consume less resources than traditional Android. The difference between Android Go and Android One is unlike Android One, Android GO doesn't come directly from Google.. Google give it to an OEM like Nokia and then Nokia release it. And then Nokia has to release the updates when they are pushed out by Google. Android One on the other hand get updates directly from Google, same thing with Stock Android.

For an enriched experience such highend devices will be needed however the aim of the Go project i will say is to make the latest tech available at pocket friendly prices for low income earners. The android experience isn't as rich as the mainstream android O.S but its worth every penny cheesy

I see you can read, but you are not understanding the core difference between Android One and Android Go.

Android One was Originally target at low end devices in developing Countries like Nigeria and India. But the program went beyond just software — it was truly a software and hardware partnership with Google. That is a handset maker can produce an inexpensive phone that meets Google minimum standard quality and performance. Android One phones ran what we'd consider "clean" Android with no customizations, and focused on speed and fluidity despite their low-end specs.

Now listen very carefully It was an ambitious idea with lots of Quality parts, and people who bought a cheap Android One phone undoubtedly got a better experience than they would with any other random phone of higher price. Some handset maker found success working with Google to release these inexpensive phones that performed better than the higher priced competitor , but others went back to doing things the way they did originally. "Android One" as a brand didn't really matter at these low-end target price point. And so, Google repositioned the brand.

Android One phones are no longer exclusively low-end or entry-level, and aren't exclusive to developing markets. Instead, Google is partnering with bigger brands for more expensive phones and selling them in markets like Western Europe and North America. This new breed of Android One phones are made by companies like Motorola, HTC and Nokia.

These phones have compelling designs, nicer materials, bigger screens, better internal specs and performance, good cameras, and a company name on the back you may have actually heard of before.

Android One was originally all about: giving you monthly security update, Clean Google-sanctioned software experience with no bloat wares/Customization.
Google lays it out pretty clearly on its Android One website: "Everything you want. Nothing you don't."

Android Go in many ways continued the original vision of Android One, but this time Android Go lets manufacturers go their own way, but users still get the benefits of Google software. Users of Android Go may not get Monthly security update or an upgrade to the next Android Operating system. Just like Itel mobile you mentioned, if you have noticed they produce mobile phones with outdated hardwares, their phone normally have 512/1GB ram with a 2013/2014 processor chip in the year 2018. In Android One that is not allowed. You must use a Google certified hardware. The main reason of Android Go was for these Itel devices, Google gave them Android Go but Google Aim was to Connect the next billion people to Google services.

"Directly"
In a straightforward way; without anything intervening; not by secondary, but by direct means.

I do not mean Android Go is not owned by Google. What I mean is Google gave out Android Go to Phone makers to Customize to their taste. That was why I used the word "directly".

No it doesn't. If the app can run on ur phone then carry go. But since phones that ship with Android go usually have low amount of ram (I've not seen Android go device with more than 1gb of ram), some core apps might have performance issues and might slow down ur phone.
