Why Was Awolowo Denied A National Burial Unlike Ojukwu A Seccesionist?..(pic) by CyynthiaKiss(f): 12:48pm On Jan 29, 2019
Obafemi Awolowo fought to keep Nigeria one. Despite all his efforts and sacrifices for Nigeria , Nigerian Government uptill today refused to acknowledge his contributions in Nation building . Awolowo was hunted and tormented by the same people he served hence his mysterious death. Even after his mysterious death, Nigerian government refused to give him an honour as a Nationalist

Then coming to Ojukwu. Chief Odumegwu Ojukwu was a Seccesionist who fought against Nigerian Governments for a period of three years. After his death, he received the Highest National burial that attracted different heads of state across the globe. Even the former President Jonathan said and I quote "I have never seen this type of burial since I was born"
My question is, Is it fair for Awolowo to be denied a state burial as a Nationalist ?

You are calling Ojukwu a secessionist. Go read history. Ojukwu prevented the success of the first coup which was generally termed an 'Igbo coup'. If he was a tribalist, he would not have done that. He also saved the lives of countless Northerners living in the East when the 1966 pogrom started. He took the decision to declare Biafra in the face of glaring inequality of the treatment of Igbos after the 1966 coup. Awolowo too deserves a national burial. It's just that he did not die at the right time grin

When Northerner was in power ?
Does it mean that SW and North West alliance is fake ?
Don't forget that Nzeogwu was given a National burial by Gowon who is also a Northerner and a head of state as well.
So what are you saying ?

My Yoruba people have refused to learn.
They used Pa Awo , they didn't only abandon him, they hunted him till his last breath.
They did the same to Abiola, yet the same person that participated in penetrating niddle in Abiola's @$$ came back to deceive the gullible ones with posthumous award.
Now they are using Bola Tinubu..Dumping him is inevitable and it's going to be very disastrous.
And all these actions were taken by people particularly from NW.
I have said no to political stupidity.
Even our Sister Kemi should be replaced by fellow Yoruba, but Buhari went ahead and picked his sister.
Our Mumu don do..

If you have lived in the North for at least a year you will be surprised to notice that Northerners relate well with Igbos than yorubas.

The North respects Ndi Igbo more than Yorubas. The way we see them as volatile, that is also how they see us.

The respect is mutual.

After the Sharia madness in 2000 which the Igbos responded in greater measures in Aba and Onitsha, the North has never tried their madness with Igbos again.

In Danja, Katsina last year, a pregnant yoruba woman was killed for reporting aboki Okada to the police. The police arrested the aboki and the youths burnt down the station and killed 5 police men.

This madness can never happen to Ndi Igbo without conseqyences in Aba and Onitsha.

Last aboki massacred yorubas in Mile 12, a madness that can never happen in the SE.

It is one of the most useless alliance ever. The SE and North have always had it better in alliances over the years since independence. The SW however has not realised that the North is smarter than their so called progressive yet tribalistic stance. When all this plays out, the SW would be at the loosing end. I feel salvation would come to Nigeria only when the SW forms an alliance with the SE!

What is your definition of national burial?

Who was supposed to be there that wasn’t there?

Aikhomu as the No 2 citizen then led the federal delegation to the burial. Prior to that, Babangida and his wife led separate delegations to Ikenne. Public holiday was declared in the whole south west and the Parliament building in Ibadan was temporarily opened for his body to be received.

At the liberty stadium Ibadan, his body was received by many military governors, military and police and public.

If I recall well, his casket was carried on a gun carrier surrounded by soldiers.

Ojujwu was not accorded a national burial. The Senate deliberated on it and agreed that a Natl burial won't be given to him.
However as a former governor of Eastern Nigeria, ex military man and due to his role in the peace of Nigeria after 1970 he will be honored

.
There is difference between alliance and slavery.
What some misguided ones are doing in SW is political slavery.
This current situation we have found ourselves is another form of slavery not alliance. When Kemi was removed, it's expected that she should be replaced with a fellow SW like Jonathan removed some Igbo ministers and replaced them with fellow Igbos which I call alliance. What's stopping Buhari from doing the same. ?

The South has never been this cheated. Under shagari/ekwueme yorubas occupied important positions but tinubu and Osinbajo have sold the South and be consoling themselves that igbos are hurt more. Yorubas suck at national politics since independence. They only come with ethnic tension and rivalry with igbos instead of demand for equity and fairnes in the interest on national development
