Nigerian Media run mostly on Lagos - Abuja axis, this lead to limited info on development in other parts.
I would like to make a galleria of projects in Akwa Ibom State where democracy actually works.

This is what all of them are saying which is why we need to match input with output.

You can also drive your case home better by stating what those 'others could not do in eight (cool years' received from the Federation Account + Internally Generated Revenue compared with what the present Governor has achieved with what he has received so far.

We are saying the same thing ' is he using the recent huge allocation well?' the answer is yes
I hold Obong Attah in high esteem because he had good plans for the state and he laid a solid foundation for development. remember, Akpabio was part of his team and as such believe in Attah's programmes that is why he had chosen to complete them instead of abandoning them for new projects because of pride (to attach his name) as is the case in other state.
We are for the development of Akwa Ibom state not who did what

When Goodluck Jonathan came to Rivers State to commission projects, Governor Amaechi presented projects that were executed by the Odili and Omehia's administration. It is a shame that we don't have any motor-able roads while the old ones are being destroyed in the name of repairs and expansion.

God, how I wish Akpabio was in Rivers State, at least we would have seen some of these projects instead of pictures and giant banners of projects that will never be executed.

Kudos to Akpabio, now I look forward to visiting Akwa Ibom State.

The Governor is the worst "Governor" in the world.

Check out this .

http://saharareporters.com/comment/reply/9418

Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State has framed up two charitable organizations offering shelter to abandoned children on charges of fraud for ‘embarrassing Akwa Ibom state’ in the international community.
The governor’s charge was made recently in an appearance on a programme on the “Child Witch syndrome” in Akwa Ibom by Cable News Network (CNN), an American News Channel.

The two non-governmental organizations are Child Rights and Rehabilitation Network (CRARN, and Stepping Stones. SaharaReporters investigations in Eket shows that Nigeria officials have been put on security surveillance with a view to arresting officials of the organizations in fulfillment of Akpabio’s threat to deal with them.

The Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom, Mr Walter Rugbere, has been briefed to arrest the president of CRARN, Mr. Sam Ikpe-Itauma, and Mr. Garry Foxcroft, who heads Stepping Stones Foundation. But no sooner was the instruction was given than they filtered to the duo. They immediately went underground.

When SaharaReporters visited the centre in Eket, the place that had been the place of hope and rehabilitation for abandoned children accused of witch craft in the state, had been overcome by despair and uncertainty as the children had become aware of plans by Akpabio to clamp down on its operators.

One of the residents said that they suffered a similar attack when policemen came and brutalized them last year when they arrived to arrest the CRARN boss.

“We hear that they are coming to arrest Uncle Sam again, why are they after us and they want to take away the people that care for us? They have given hope to us and we have access to education here and they provide us with food and healthcare.”

Speaking to us, one of the children said, “If they take him away, what will happen to us? We have been afraid since policemen started coming to look for him. When the governor visited here, he promised to protect us, why is he not keeping him promise, we watched him threaten to arrest our uncle.”

Obviously embarrassed by the real facts on the ground, Akpabio, who visited the centre for some 250 abandoned children without making any appreciable change to their lives, accused the NGOs of fraud with the intention to intimidate and silence them.

Reacting to the CNN broadcast last week, Akpabio claimed that the child witch phenomenon in Akwa Ibom was blown out of proportion and launched a campaign of calumny to blackmail and discredit the charity organizations. Both NGOs have been providing care for the children abandoned by the society due to the total absence of social services by the government.

Contrary to allegations of fraud leveled against the NGOs about running the centre for pecuniary purposes, a visit to the shelter showed tremendous improvement from the deplorable state it was a year ago when Akpabio visited.
Several buildings and facilities have been built for the comfort of the inmates of the home, and staff of the centre said that the funds came from public spirited individuals and organizations.

“Anyone who visits here can see that the donations and funding from people are going into tangible projects and most of the donors do the projects directly and the centre makes inputs by way of prioritizing areas that require urgent attention,” said an inmate.

“Most of us here are volunteers who are not paid,” a member of staff who craved anonymity told SaharaReporters in Eket, “but we are against the brutality of innocent children labeled as witches.”

He lamented, “It is unreasonable to think that the centre is run to make money, it is a child of necessity, if the government has a functional social welfare system in the ministry, the centre may not have existed in the first place,;it came as a result of a vacuum”.

In a statement signed by Gary Foxcroft, Programme Director of Stepping Stones, the two NGO’s commended the efforts of Akwa Ibom government to reduce the menace of child witch stigmatization and abandonment in the state.
“As a registered charity in England and Wales we are accountable to the Charity Commission and publish our accounts on their website and ours annually. Stepping Stones Nigeria and our partners are committed to upholding the highest standards in transparency and accountability. We have absolutely nothing to hide. Unfortunately it appears that the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Chief (Dr) Godswill Akpabio, has been given misleading information on this issue by those with a commercial interest in seeking to discredit our work,” it stated.

Sam Itauma, President of CRARN insisted that the child with syndrome in Akwa Ibom was not exaggerated.

“Recent reports by UNICEF and the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child show this problem is real and that it has not been exaggerated at all,” Itauma maintained.

More of Gov. Akpabio's attrocities

Godswill Obot Akpabio and the Campaign of Destruction: All for Second-Term?

Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State is ready to kill, maim limbs, and destroy marriages, lives, and livelihood of anyone who stands on his way in his desperate attempt to win a second term. If there is a Governor of any State in Nigeria, who hates criticism---no matter how well-intentioned---and who is willing to do anything to eliminate those who criticize his policies and his corrupt techniques of governance, it is Governor Godswill Akpabio. The man has a team of people in the State that monitors movements of community leaders, trailed all their contacts, uses electronic devices to monitor (bug) telephone exchanges of people, especially those of his Commissioners. Within the last three years, when Akpabio became the Governor, Akwa Ibom State has transformed from a once peaceful society to that which is now gripped by fear; fear of kidnapping, assassination, torture, and fear of being economically, socially and politically ruined, for life.

On July 8, 2010, Barristers Andem Ndem and Leo Ekpenyong were granted a well publicized interview on AIT Television, during which they said things about Governor Akpabio that were very revealing. At the end of their interview, they issued a warning on air that should their lives be endangered as a result of what they have said about Akpabio, Governor Godswill Akpabio’s administration should be held responsible. Since then, the lives of the two Barristers have not been the same because of frequent threats to their lives, as exemplified by the following incidents, the last one which just occurred yesterday (September 3, 2010).

1. On Monday, August 16, 2010, Mr. Root Effiong, a member of the NGO which focuses on Good Governance called Mr. Andem Ndem a little after midnight (12:05 am to be exact) and asked to know his location. Later that day, Mr. Ndem discovered that Akpabio’s administration was trying to assassinate him by using Root Effiong--his co-worker. When Mr. Ndem and other workers went to work that morning, they also found out that their offices were ransacked with several documents carted away. Since then, Mr. Ndem has filed a letter of complaint with the appropriate federal authorities against Akpabio’s administration.

2. On September 3, 2010, it was revealed that Akpabio’s administration had contacted the same Root Effiong for a deal to plant an article in the Nigerian dailies saying that both Barristers Andem Ndem and Leo Ekpenyong have been expelled from the Good Governance organization, despite the fact that Root Effiong has no such authority. Sources say Akpabio’s administration is ready to write the article and pay for the spaces in all the newspapers.

3. It was also revealed that the Commissioner of Finance of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Bassey Albert, was given instruction by both Governor Akpabio and his Secretary to the Government--Umana Okon Umana--to contact all employees of the Good Governance Organization to ask for their personal bank account numbers. The purpose is for the Honorable Commissioner to deposit money in the account of all the employees as an inducement for all of them to sign a petition saying that they no longer want the two Barristers in their organization.

This is not the first time Akpabio’s administration has planned and carried out this type of vindictiveness on those that criticize the policies and the corrupt behavior of Godswill Akpabio. Not too long ago, it was reported how Governor Akpabio gave a former governor millions of naira for hospital treatment. The transaction happened in the confine of the Governor’s Office. At night of the same day, kidnappers attacked the former governor, roughed him up, and threatened to kill him unless he returns all the money given him by Governor Akpabio.

Because of the negative publicity of the incident and how it is bruising the already warped image of Akpabio’s administration, the former governor, Chief Etiebet, sources say, is being approached by Akpabio’s administration for a financial deal to induce the Chief to say that the incident never occurred. The plan is for Akpabio’s administration to write an advertorial in the name of Chief Etiebet and then plant the advertorial in Nigerian newspapers.

There is a gentleman (name withheld because he is a private citizen—but for this article I will call him Vincent) who sold a prime land to Governor Akpabio. Sources say Akpabio paid Vincent a part of the money with a promise to pay the balance in the future, which amounted to several million naira. A few months ago, Akpabio decided to pay off the balance to the Vincent. The venue was arranged for the meeting. Vincent, according to sources, expected either a cashier’s check or a personal check from governor Akpabio. But when Akpabio’s men showed up, they came with bags of Ghana-Must-Go containing millions of naira. Vincent, who probably had never seen such amount of money asked, “Why is the governor paying me in cash?” The men told him that the governor does not want the EFCC to know that he paid such money for a land.

In any case, according to the story, the men who delivered the money demanded N4 million for themselves. Vincent refused to pay that much, but offered them a miser N200, 000.00 (two hundred thousand naira). Akpabio’s men rejected the money as too small, thanked the gentleman, and left quietly. A few days later, Vincent’s father was kidnapped. The sum of N12 million was demanded as ransom. The family (not Vincent—family members say he did not contribute even a kobo) ended up contributing money to pay the N12 million demanded by the kidnapers.

It did not take long for Vincent to immediately look at governor Akpabio as a prime suspect in connection with the kidnapping of his father. He was ready to go public and talk about the whole deal. When Akpabio heard about what Vincent was planning to do, he called him, offered to return the N12 million taken from his family by the kidnappers. More money was promised if Vincent would appear on camera to denounce Akpan Udoedehe (his home-boy and a governorship aspirant who plans to contest against governor Akpabio) in front of the invited journalists. Vincent agreed. Journalists were quickly assembled. He issued a statement which denounced Akpan Udoedehe as unfit to be a governor, described him as a motor-park tout, a thief, who in the past had done this and had done that.

It did not end there. Akpabio promised to support him if he will contest as a Representative (of Akwa Ibom State) to the Federal House of Assembly. Vincent accepted. A few days after his acceptance, his driver was kidnapped, killed, and cut into pieces. Now, other members of Vincent’s family are so angry with him for bringing afflictions to the family because of his association and closeness to Governor Akpabio. Just like Governor Akpabio, he has threatened to kill anyone, including members of his family, who stands on his way.

Not too long ago, an English NGO worker by the name of Gary Foxcroft visited Akwa Ibom State. While there, he witnessed the atrocious, wicked and brutal abuse and killing of children by their parents and guardians in the name of witchcraft. Mr. Foxcroft documented as many incidents as he could. When he returned to England, thanks to Internet, he put the video on YouTube. When the story appeared, Akpabio’s government denied the existence of such crimes in the state and described Mr. Foxcroft as a neo-colonialist who is trying to make money. But when the international community of Akwa Ibom State indigenes condemned the statement issued by the government and started contributing money for the rescue of the children from parents, Akpabio’s administration finally acknowledged what it first denied; that there is in fact abuse and killing of children in the name of witchcraft. Because the video caused embarrassment to the image of Akpabio and his lousy government, now, the administration has declared Gary Foxcroft a wanted man---dead or alive.

According to the Bible, when Paul was arrested, he heard that Christians were living immoral and sinful lives. He wrote them a scolding letter from his prison cell in Ephesus. In the letter Paul instructed them on how to treat an immoral person in their midst. The following is exactly what Paul wrote from his prison cell; “When you are assembled in the name of our Lord Jesus and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present, hand this man over to Satan, so that the sinful nature may be destroyed and his spirit saved on the day of the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 5: 4-5 and on verse 13, Paul wrote, “God will judge those outside. Expel the wicked man from among you” (NIV).

Since Governor Akpabio is already a Satan, I am calling on all Akwa Ibom people to come together on Election Day to rescue Akwa Ibom State from the evil forces of Godswill Akpabio by voting him out of office so that his sinful nature may be destroyed and his spirit saved on the day of the Lord. We must expel the wicked man from among us.

Wow pastor that was long. I was almost commending you for takin time to type all that when i notice at the end that it was copy and paste.
Gone are the days when government was criticize for non-performance or non-payment of salaries or neglect of health services. It is unfortunate that you leave developmental issues and attack personality. You talk about bug, if it is true is there any society as bugged as USA . About the child witch, those same faces since 2008 are presented to the world just to attract funding and this is an embarrassment to the govt as if they are doin nothing and not just akwa ibom, the whole nigeria is depicted as barbaric, you know as white people generalize. Even the president was taken aback so even you cos of that the white man could see you as one of the child witch killers and that is exactly when the governor is tryin to prevent. He need support not criticizism based on sentiment
