This has always been the problem.

The grid has to be decentralised. Of course since it's a centralised grid the trip of that major line means that the capacity of the grid is seriously reduced hence the need to shut down Egbin (imagine). If the grid were decentralised and generating stations didn't have to pay homage to Osogbo it would have been easy to create islands and redistribute power.

This isn't rocket science but for Nigeria where we have round pegs in square holes it is undoable.

And these are the clowns talking of feeding renewables into the grid. If you are lacking capacity for conveying power now, what happens when you feed in intermittent power and Egbin drops out or any other n-1 or n-2 fault occurs?

This is the fault and responsibility of the federal government since TCN is owned solely by Nigeria still.

explain that to an Hausa man.

Many Africa countries currently enjoy 24 hrs electricity, do call giant of Africa is still in darkness.

No single mainland African country enjoys 24-7 electricity supply.

Outside the OECD countries and the Asian tigers and oil rich gulf states, many countries around the world are yet to achieve 24-7 electricity supply.

That said, you are correct that even by African standards, Nigeria is really underperforming.

This is what people should know. They generate power from Egbin, Lagos, thennsend to Osogbo first and from Oshogbo, it is sent back to the Discos (EKEDC and IKEDC) what a disaster arrangement

We need to up our game. Power generation of less than 7000MW for a nation of over 150million population is absurd.

Its a national blackout. Even Abeokuta under IBEDC is experiencing like a week long blackout. God deliver us from this darkness!
Its a shame really when even Cotonou and other smaller west African countries don't know power outage not to talk of total blackout... Shame on all our leaders angry angry angry

What I've gathered (from discussions I've had with friends) is that there's an almost total blackout within the city (in places like Lekki, Ikoyi, Apapa, Ikeja, Yaba, Surulere, etc.), but places on the outskirts of the city (eg Sangotedo) have almost constant power.
no light here in Ajah o

There's been total blackout in my area since Wednesday. To make matter worse, my small gen was stolen from the compound. Now I rely on my h8g gen and that one can drink fuel for Africa.

TCN needs to be sold. So there have been shortage and they refused us synchronizing a unit to the grid yesterday.

Why are you talking like Atiku whom the Association of Past Criminals, APC called names for asking that NNPC be privatised based on the success story of our telcos and Eleme petrochemicals.
The same Nigerians who called him names are busy selling Canadian money and advising people how to run from our country to where whites don't let their own government run businesses.
Why are we so easily fooled

Bubu is Baba only to his own personal children. He is not Baba to all Nigerians hence he was talking of 97% versus 5%.
Otherwise why is he not working on educating every child instead of just sending his own to expensive schools abroad
He will continue to abandon us to the problems he created with his failure as he doesn't care about us. He doesn't!

GMB‬ Speech While Addressing Nigeria Community In The United Kingdom.

I Will Maintain a modest lifestyle as President -Muhammadu Buhari.

“One of the major killers of our economy apart from corruption is waste. Our scarce resources are being plundered away very carelessly and unnecessarily wasted. Let me give an instance, presently, there are more than 6 aircraft in the presidential fleet. What do you call that? Billions of naira is budgeted every year for the maintenance of these aircraft not to talk of operational cost and other expenses.

You may want to ask what a Nigerian President is doing with so many aircraft when a Prime Minister of Britain fly around using the same public aircraft like an ordinary Briton.

Go and check and compare with that of any developed country in the world, the office of the Nigerian President is a very expensive one inspite our high level of poverty, lack and joblessness. Despite all these, you still find a Nigerian Minister spending about N10billion to charter an aircraft for just one year. Now, for me, when we come into office, all these waste will be blocked and properly channelled into our economy. We intend for instance, to bring back our National carrier, the Nigerian airways. We shall do this by bringing all the aircraft in the presidential fleet into the Nigerian airways and within a year increase the fleet into about 20.
