2023: Ohanaeze’s secretary backs Amaechi, says Igbo can’t be President

The Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Uche Okwukwu, has said that the people of the South-East played themselves out of the 2023 Presidency by failing to vote for the All Progressives Congress in the 2019 general elections.

Okwukwu said he was supporting the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, who stated that the Igbo had by act of omission or commission made it impossible for them to win the Presidency in the next four years.

He made his position known in a statement made available to journalists in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, on Monday.

He described Amaechi’s assertion as true, adding that the Igbo denied President Muhammadu Buhari a presence in the South-East by failing to vote for him (Buhari).

He said, “Amaechi’s statement is correct because they betrayed him; they betrayed Ndigbo. You must have followed the event leading to the confusion, where a socio-cultural organisation adopted President Muhammadu Buhari without affording Amaechi the opportunity of participating in the meeting of Ndigbo.

“Amaechi is an Igbo man. He has openly said he is Igbo. So, why would you deny him the opportunity of participating in the meeting that purportedly endorsed Buhari and then you denied him the opportunity of presenting his own bulk to the Igbo.

“Of course, whether we agree or not, politics is reality. By not voting for Buhari and denying him any presence in Igboland, we have to a large extent, by omission or commission, shut ourselves out of the presidency in 2023.

“Even if you go to the convention of the APC, Igbo cannot win the primary in the APC. This is because they don’t have any senator, no governor, nobody in the APC. So, how will they win the primary? It is a sad thing, but it is the reality on the ground.

“Amaechi’s predictable assertion to the effect that Ndigbo had by an act of omission or commission shut themselves out of the presidency come 2023 is nothing but the truth.”

These idiots think APC will rule forever. APC can give whoever they want their ticket, but they won't win. Even 2019 was massively rigged and most northern politicians keyed into d rigging because it was buhari

SMART MAN. Wanting to fool Ndigbo into making that mistake. Running against a ruling party, so state power can be used to subvert the outcome of that election. NO WAY.

If a Yorubaman emerges as the APC candidate, Igbos should go for a northern candidate in PDP. That is the smartest way of playing this cat and mouse game.
Remember that if a Yorubaman wins the presidency in 2023, then Igbos will be frozen out of the presidency for 16 good years. And we already know how APC rigged Atiku out, and you can bet your last dollar that Yorubas will use APC's incumbency to rig out any Igbo PDP candidate, and if this happens, northerners will not be willing to stick out their political necks for Ndigbo and insist that the Igboman should claim his mandate

If APC does not see it fit to choose an Igbo candidate, Igbos should be smart, and choose a northern candidate for PDP. Possibly choose Atiku or Tambuwal or Kwakwanso

What if APC chooses Orji kalu an igbo man as their Presidential candidate in 2023 and PDP still goes for an Atiku or kwankwaso?

Finally who even allowed this rivers state people and ikwerre into Ohaneze....even to become secretary.

Are we really organized at all.

Same you who was telling us that PH airport must serve SE, and that Enugu should be closed.
You fool no one. We all know you are not Igbo.

Your pains are just starting. Ohaneze Ndiigbo practice rotational presidency. After Nnia Nwodo, the next Ohanaeze president would be from Imo, then after that, it's Rivers state, with likely an Ikwerre man being the president.

Your antics starts and ends in NL.

Uche Okwukwu is an Ikwerre -Igbo man, he is a real Igbo man who had done alot for Igbo unity and his voice counts more than yours.

Pls can someone tells the gathering of fools called Ohanaeze to shut da f u c k their mouths?

When did matured igbo men became these talkactive merchants blablabla blublublu blurblur everyday.

I hate when old men are these silly so it's untill the igbo voted for apc or against their wish before they can become president

If igbo like let them vote 100% for Buhari I can bet it with anything yet igbo won't be allow to be president simple as that. so shut up with your they did not vote this or that trying to bully the igbo. Must every body voted for Buhari for goodness sake?

It's known and I will say it clearly average Hausa or Fulani can not and never accept or stand on the line and say oh we are voting igbo man to rule Nigeria that time has passed except miracle I know what I'm saying.

Voting against apc is not the problem of the East the problem of the East which will never allow them to rule Nigeria again is simply our *rebel and hate stand* go by history you will understand my point and the igbo refused to back down and address these two demonic characters.

I don't deceive myself. Igbo are not yet the president they claim to be superior, very hateful, arrogant, claiming they are not Nigerians, Ojukwu started it and it died down the co existing bridge was building up gradually suddenly Kanu came and torn it apart etc. Pls let face the reality even I that came from that region can not vote for any one from the East as president because hell will let loose on other tribes if igbo man become the president.

Pls call me Afonja or Aboki ok truth hurts. They claimed they are not Nigeria since 1920 according to that idiot called Kanu, then stop talking about ruling Nigeria or not pls.

Just yesterday a millitary no rank personnel came on Facebook and said he hate Yoruba with passion, imagine such and you want to become the president bah ok nah.

Good day.

Here u go again.. OBJ was president for 8 solid years, how did this help south west to generate 24/7 power?

How has it helped south west to generate clean water to homes?

How has it helped south west to develop like the least city in south Africa?
How has it helped south west to have standard education like ordinary Bowstwana.

I can go on. Or how has it helped south west eradicate hunger, joblessness, insecurity, etc.

North has produced more presidents, how has it helped that region with all the hunger killings, illiteracy, etc)?

So, igbo presidency will not do anything for the common man in the east. U guys play this ethnic politics too much and that is why our leaders are using us to play football.

I mean, Buhari is the president, how did that make u have stable power supply or have access to quality govt school or jobs, etc?

Nigerians, make una wake up.

PDP is a major party in Nigeria and Igbos always claim they own the party. Instead of wailing over APC and who the party will present in 2023, they should put up a strong Igbo candidate that can win PDP’s presidential ticket. A Peter Obi/Tambuwal PDP ticket vs Osibanjo/El-Rufai APC ticket for example will lead to a very interesting presidential election.

While Yorubas are making effort to secure APC ticket, Igbos should drop their defeatist attitude and start making effort to get PDP presidential ticket. 2023 should be an all south contest. If Igbos refuse to contest for PDP ticket, Wike and other south south leaders should go for it.

If we do that apc would give theirs to west and north form a new party n take it ...we are not dumb

South must be united for anything to happen if not let the north have it

Smart thinking...

The naivety of some of these Yorubas is quite unbelievable!

The north will never allow the Yoruba win the presidency in 2023. The are adroit when it comes to mastery of political permutations.

They know that ceding power to the South West who have had their turn in 1999 to 2017 will jeopardize their chance of reclaiming power after say 8 years. They would not do that for 1,000 Tinubus.

Most of people from the South West conflate Buhari's ephemeral popularity with the unchangeable monolith which the north typify. Buhari will exit the scene eventually...

How can you build your political fortunes on quicksand?

Which other southern interest do you speak of?

There are only Yoruba interest. The South are in PDP, and PDP had zoned the presidency for 2023 to North.

No one in true south( SE and SS) is interested in challenging the current PDP arrangement.

We would simply watch and see how Yorubas can win The North.

Stop clowning my friend. Igbos are a minority in the south and whatever decisions they’ve made is not binding on other parts of the south. The south are not only in PDP, they are fully represented in APC. The national chairman of APC is from south south while the incoming deputy senate president will come from south south.

As regards PDP, no zoning decision has been made. The last zoning decision was for 2019 election and not 2023. If Igbos in PDP are not interested in 2023 presidential election, other southerners will battle for and get the ticket. Igbos cannot decide for anybody other than themselves. Wike, Umahi and others will contest for PDP ticket and you will still come here to eat your jealousy inspired words.

Oh, you are one of those that think other SSners see Edo state as South-South?
The same Edo state that worked against GEJ's second term?

When we talk of South-South, we mean Rivers, Cross River, AKwa Ibom, Bayelsa and Delta.

As far as we are concerned, SS is not adequately represented in APC.

What zone has Nigeria presidency really helped? The North is still the poverty and illiteracy capital of Nigeria, despite years of producing Nigeria's leaders. What did the average Abeokuta person or Bayelsans gain from OBJ or GEJ's presidency respectively?
Similarly, Igbo presidency will only benefit the Igbo elite who are already in bed with their northern puppet masters.

For the majority of Ndi Igbo, what we ask for is a reformed, fair and just Nigeria or outright independence.
I want my future to be shaped in ENUGU by an Okechukwu, who shares my dreams and aspirations rather than in far away ABUJA by a barely educated, fundamentalist Abubakar whose interests and mine are not aligned.

You are a very smart guy but the problem is that Pdp already zoned the presidency to the north.
You know it rotates every 8 years , if that happens, there is no southerner who will defeat the
northern pdp candidate as you can see that the wise north already have their plans down
against the south and that was why the almost voted apc/pdp 50/50 in the north.

Emotional rants devoid of any iota of sense.

The South is PDP and PDP is south. Yorubas are not south. Edo state under APC is no different from Imo under APC for the past 8years. It means nothing. The south remains PDP.

Wike is already working with Tambuwal, Umahi wouldn't want to be the next Akpabio. It's an unwritten consensus within PDP that since last PDP president w as from the South, the next would come from the North.
I know you are naively counting on PDP to throw up a non Northerner as its candidate in the presidential election of 2023, so as to give a Yoruba APC candidate a chance of dividing Northern votes. What you don't know is that you are not as wise as you think you are. Your move will be checkmated. PDP WILL produce a Northern presidential candidate in 2023, with southern backing, while Yorubas would have to contest against this Northern candidate.

Thats what will happen. Your greed will destroy you, if you don't repent from it now.

Your view about Igbo race is very shallow and myopic to say the least. Rotimi Chibuike (God is power) Amaechi (Who knows tomorrow) is Igbo by blood. Rivers, Delta, and so forth are mere political contraption and arrangement some years ago. Igbo as a tribe and identity predates the colonials and can be found even in Lagos, Kaduna and so forth.
