Please what is the recommended oil for Mercedes Benz C 180, 2000 model. I serviced with Total oil the last time; but my neighbour who drives same car said I should change to Mobil. He reasoned that Total oil is too light.

Apart from his assertion, I'd like to know the recommended oil specifications for the car to avoid using the wrong one.

I think the recommended oil grade is 5w 40. I use Rymco. Total is advised cos it's hard to get the fake unlike mobil.

Hello nairalanders
A friend has this vboot with V6 engine and recently developed an auto gear fault. Its wasn't selectin well. He applied gear oil and it got better but after two days and while traveln, it practically stopd. He restarted the engine end engaged the "D" gear but the car didn't move but the reverse "R" gear worked.

Please gurus in the house kindly give specific answers to these questions.

1. does this mean the gear box needs replacement or should he give a gear specialist to reset and service it.

2. how much is the complete auto gear box.

3. How much is it to convert an auto gear to manual gear

Is there anyone here who can give me a quick overview of maintenance costs of a mercedes E 350 say 2010-2012 years. I would be glad if anyone can point to a page on this thread if it has been dealt with before. Any owners out there should kindly let me know.

Pls help, electronic stability programe esp, not availaible, this message came up last week, and after scanning,steering angle sensor was said to be the culprit, pls how do i fix it, its a w203,c 200, and am in Benin.

Its not even a year, and issues have started popping up. The new W205 seat are developing stains and leaving residual on the seats. Though word is that replacement parts are heading the way of the dealership to fix the problem. What I don't get is the fact they claim these cars are tested for 1000's of miles before sales to the public or is it only the engine,gearbox or frame of the cars that get intense testing?. Issues like this are bad for business, little wonder most pple keep saying MERC reliability is on the downward match. Hope they put their house in order cos that new C-class cost way too much for such.

Year 2000 ends the W202 model while 2001 is the entry model of the W203. I will suggest you go for the year 2000 C230 Kompressor.

Thanks guys, I have fixed it. Steering angle sensor was the cuprit.
Pls I also have an issue with air maf sensor, how do I get a good one or new one.
