Hey guys, I've always wanted to own an e500 w124 Mercedes-Benz, but as rare and unique as it is, I've not been able to even see it. Well I currently have a regular 230e v boot, and I got to think. .... if I can't get the e500 now, why not try modifying my 230e in a decent way (don't really like heavy mods) so as to get it closer to the e500. So if there's anyone who knows someone who knows his onions about Mercedes-Benz engines and how to fit in stuff, I'd really appreciate it if I get linked to that person so as to work together and get our hands soiled with expertise.

Good morning Benz addicts,

A friend is keen on buying a 2004 S350. The deal is cool and all seems ok. But the airmatic suspension is fault.
Something to do with the airpump. Checks show that a new pump can be installed for N25k.

But then, how reliable and durable is the Airmatic suspension? IS it a component requiring specific servicing regime and then again, is it a component that will frequently break down?

Any other issues he needs to be conscious about on the S350?

Hello house... still on this topic; would it be wise to take out the airmatics and install conventional shocks/springs? Are there any potential distortions to the ride/performance of the car if this is done? I'm considering the car but wary of the horror stories that seem to trail the airmatic system and whilst I've seen reports online regarding the suspension change it would be helpful to note any inherent dangers. Thanks in advance for your responses!

Good morning Mercedes Benz specialists. I just bought a Mercedes benz c230 and the sound from the exhaust is so deep like that of a power bike or from a leaking exhaust. The car dealer has convinced me it's the normal sound but I want to be sure as many people have advised me to take it to a mechanic to check it out.
Please benz experts what do you think?

Changing from Airshocks to springs would have no negative effect on the car just that the ride on the Airmatic is very smooth and it kind of glides over rough patches on the road it's more of a thing of luxury changing to spring gives it regular everyday ride feel no problems at all. Just make sure you order the genuine kit for the car in question.

Airmatic means flying Business class while springs mean economy remember you're both in the same Airplane but the luxury and comfort no be the same so no biggie.

You need to kick that car dealer in the balls pun intended. Your car has an AMG Badge to make it look and sound like one but it isn't one. So it has an aftermarket exhaust that is making it so loud. You need a new exhaust muffler and maybe tips and pray the resonator wasn't removed and replaced with a X pipe. I think you need to take of pics of the exhaust while the car is on a pit to know where to start from.

I know people that would kill for that aftermarket exhaust setup including me.

@donlawrenzo, ..what the hell?? cool cool smiley....welcome to AFFALTERBACH! grin grin.
There is nothing wrong with your new ride, that deep roar from the exhaust is the power of A M G! grin. you got yourself a racing monster grin smiley. Please confirm if its a V8, most AMGs come as V8 engines. Please take more pictures of the ride , to post here lets know if its a true AMG. take pictures of the wheels showing the brake calippers, take pictures of the instrument cluster inside, the engine too & also the silver panel that runs on the floor when the driver or passenger door is open .

Guy, post the interior, dashboard, front side and engine pictures of this subtle modded car make we feed our eyes na. Your car was given a slight mod hence the AMG badge, AMG spoiler, big exhausts, white licence plate lights.

If it's an aftermarket exhaust setup is it ok? Or it needs fixing

One man's food is another man's poison people pay top dollar to get that sound and believe me such setup even gives the car some more horsepower. Your car exhaust system is perfect, If you don't like it you can revert to stock. Share more pics so we can see if other mods were carried out. Interior, exterior and engine pics.

Thanks to all the contributors here, though this is my first comment here, but going thru you write-ups here, worth gold.
Keep up the good job.
I have 300 v-boot Benz and I am thinking of going for 1998-2002 Mercedes-Benz E320 model, based on my mechanic's advice, that it is cheaper to maintain and has fuel economy
I am big and the interior gets my 100% approval but I need advice on what step to take.
I like strong cars and my v-boot is strong with strong engine (6 plug) but the only minus is that it is a single door car and it consumes fuel alot

Below is link to E320

I think you should buy the faulty part then use the star c3 scanner or launch scanner to set the suspension settings. The luxury of the car is its airmatic suspension i bet youve not experienced it before thats why you are thinking of removing it. Let me tell you first hand the airmatic heightens the car automatically in bad road conditions and lowers the car at top speeds . Also its more like driving a car with new shocks every day besides the fact that its in a world of its own. Replace the bad component or components and enjoy your ride.
