What a joke! Nigerians always try to imitate what they see others do but in the process, they lose the real essence of what it is that they're trying to accomplish. When a nation bestows upon one of their own the title of "father of the nation" or regards them as "founding fathers" as is the case with the US, much thought and deliberations usually go into such declarations. The said honoree(s) must have selflessly beyond measures contributed immensely to the progress and uplift of that country. They are leaders, visionaries, very patriotic, and bereft of any ego and sectional sentiment. They have the intellectual acumen to regale their countrymen and the wisdom to boot. So, to award Mr Obasanjo such a distinguished title while lacking the necessary attributes goes to show how Nigerians unbeknownst to them had tainted what is revered in other nations.
