At the recently concluded Gay Pride parade in London, Gay and Lesbian Muslims from across the world gathered to fight against homophobia in ISLAM and pledge their love for Allah.

One of the organisers of the Islamic Gay Pride March is Australia's first openly gay Imam, El Hajj Nur Warasame who has opened the first gay friendly mosques in Australia and the United Kingdom.

Mr. Warsame is a Hafiz (One who has memorised the entire Koran). He says that he wants to protect young gay Muslims from going through the depression and suicidal thoughts he experienced as a young man struggling to harmonize his faith with his sexual orientation.

Several participants at the pride march condemned what they called the ignorance and intolerance of Wahabi islam which they blame for the hostility that young Muslim gays, lesbians and transgenders face in Islamic countries.

Aisha Muhammad, an openly Lesbian Muslim woman, described homophobia as being similar to islamophobia and called on the LGBT community to unite with the Muslim community to fight all kinds of prejudice.

A lot of lesbians at the march who asked to remain anonymous, claimed that rape was being used as a tool against them to "cure" them of their lesbianism.

For Aminat Sulaiman, she insists that the acceptance and unconditional love and support she received from her parents was a key factor in coming out and marrying her lesbian partner. Aminat says she doesn't see any inconsistencies in being a Muslim Hijab wearer:

Organizers of the event say that this is the 3rd edition and they are encouraged by the fact that participation has doubled in spite of death threats.
