For those of you asking her what's the rush, I think she has every right to feel a bit anxious. I mean, anything could happen in two years. Yes, the guys reasons were justified but who knows, he could easily turn around and fall for someone else or they could grow apart and lose interest in one another. I'm not saying that her wanting to rushing him is good but her reasons are justified.

@OP: I think you need to relax a bit. Give it some time and hopefully things will work out. I have a Ghanaian friend is kinda in the same situation. He wants to get married to his fiancée right away. His fiancée asked him to give her a year for her to complete school, but wants to marry her NOW.

Yeah, you're right. Thats the more reason why she should wait though. Divorce is a messy process to have to deal with! IJS

what happend to trust and understanding?

if she feels that he is going to leave her,

then she don't have no business getting married to him

I understand that there needs to be trust and understanding, I just feel that her reasons are justified [as well as his]. Having trust won't necessarily guarantee anything. C'mon work with me here, I'm tryin' to play devil's advocate wink grin. Besides, I did tell her that she needs to relax.

It's not about when you marry or how old you are at the time.

It's about her good your marriage is.

Do you trust him? Is he a good man? Do you understand his reasons for waiting?

What counts is both of you, not others
Re: He Wants Me To Wait Till I Am 29! by Skidoc(m): 10:55am On Oct 10, 2010
29 is not too old. What is the difference between someone who married at 27 and someone who married at 29? At the end of the day, you are both married! Abi dem dey write am for forehead? I don't understand girls sometimes sha.

There is ABSOLUTELY no reasons she should rush to get married ESPECIALLY if the dude does not want to get married. The BIGGEST problem women have is that they ARE FALLING for the hype that ooooooh if you dont get married at this age and if you do not have a man, YOU ARE DOOMED.

Listen up, a man should not be YOUR VERY REASON you are alive. You should make sure that you are okay and when you are okay then you will heal better when the pain come along in the future. I am not saying that the guy will hurt you, but as long as you live, SOMETHING WILL HURT. You will have to be strong and know that you are worth more than diamonds and rubies.

If you can't wait to get married then you need to find someone who does want to get married now. I am telling you if you rush it ESPECIALLY with a dude who is not ready, YOU WILL REGRET IT.

We women tend to make a mountain out of a molehill, we need to learn to accept the fact that the sky is BLUE and not AZURE.

puuhhlleessee, in this day and age,u do not wait for anyman

that said i think u should continue dating him but keep ur eyes open,if sm1else comes along you think ure compatible with, then go for it

no point in putting all your eggs in one basket, what if after two years he isnt able to provide the things he's trying to put in place

what then(considering the way things are in this country)? 29 is too old to start looking for sm1 else ready to settledown(plus ull probably ave to date for at

least a year),and then again the female ratio to guys available is very high, besides the guy is still young 29,ur bit on the side shud be a bit older,at least those

ones(older guys) know wat they want

@vboxcode, gem and specialist, no i do not mean that african girls do not reason well or meant as an insult, again sometimes my fingers can type very quick, what i meant is that if i was still there maybe i would be thinkin the same as her and base my young life on marraige so quickly is all, there are others things in life one can accomplish instead of just rushing right into marraige because that is what your friends have done or what ur family wants, right now i am being told it is time for me to have a baby and family, however i will do that when i feel the time is right.

Nicely said.

@Poster:
Even with all the trust and love, two years is a long time for anything to go wrong. . .'Bambinas' is just one in a million reasons
But then again, even if he does introduction and even gives you an engagement ring, it still isn't a guarantee. . .
People break up after giving and collecting rings. Heck, marriages break up on wedding nights. . .

So, my dear. . .we know it's a harsh society we live in regarding the issue of women and marriage. . .but the BEST thing you can do is relax and be the best 'wife-to-be' there is in the mean time!

@ poster,
Are u anxious to get married becos ur firnds r getting married or becos u r the first child and ur parents are anxious for their grandchildren or u want to get married for love? And are u sure u r matured enough for marriage?
To be a good wife, u need to be patient and tolerant
This person has explained to u that he needs to have enuf to keep u an d the babies and u r still complaining that anything could happen within the 2 yrs of waiting.
What of if u marry a guy that is ready and things turn the other way (God forbids) in 2 yrs time?
Why cant u exercise patience with the guy and if he doesnt marry u eventually, just know it is not the will of God and God will compensate u in another better way.
If he does something on ur head now, what gave u the impression that he cant remove that thing later or just leave it there and move on with another babina like u said.
Marriage is not what u can rush into.If he gets married to u now and he cant feed u or cater for u very well,u will start to compare him with ur friends' husbands.
Bible says be anxious for nothing but in prayers and supplications, let ur request be made known unto God.
You must learn to be patient my dearie, if he is urs he is not going anywhere OK?

thank u oo . .my broda . .i almost started feelin sorry for maself  grin

@ OP . . d last thing u shuld do to urself is get pressured into marriage because of your mates/friends. if u rush in for all d wrong reasons, u'l rush back out hurt. Im not younger than 29 & it was ma choice to take ma time. U shuld do urself dat favour too.

However, u dont need to b silly. If hez totally scared of committment, leave his sorry furry azz  for someone betta cos he prolly wont b ready in 2 years.  wink[/font]

There is everything wrong with what she has writtten. Her advice is to go get a backup (so she doesnt put her eggs in one backup).Geez, its the OP's choice to wait. |She is either in or out of the relationship no inbetween. But if she decides to wait, she should concentrate on the relationship and give it her best. Not keeping backup options. But then na so most of u naija girls dey.Rotten eggs!
Re: He Wants Me To Wait Till I Am 29! by SAGoddess: 8:30am On Oct 12, 2010
So OP, you want this marriage at all cost even though your man has valid reasons why the wedding should only happen in two years' time? DO NOT let your friends put pressure on you. . . . .this is not about them but you and your man! RELAX!
