Forget ke? The pain is out of this world, that's why it is better 'forgotten'. Where I come from, they warn you not to scream the first time or you will scream all the way. I didn't scream but I was gradually losing it or why did I start some funny prayers? I called on all the persons in the Trinity separately and asked for help personally from each hoping one will answer if the others were busy. It was time for pushing just when I seriously started considering enlisting the help of Amadioha and I am not joking here.

hmmmmmmm interesting topic.

I have about 6-7 weeks to go and i still haven't decided on how i will give birth, but i am glad that so far this topic has not been reduced to "i'm better than u cos i pushed and u took the easy option"

as for me I have no choice as to how this baby is going to be born as it has been presenting breech for the past 3 scans and only this week my consultant explained that its still breech probably due to fibroids.

Anyway for the person saying c-section is not painful could they please explain why women are not allowed to drive (i think) the first 2 weeks after having a section? a c- section is painful its just another kind of pain from a natural birth and plus it takes a lot longer to recover, and in some cases carries a greater risk.

The safety of my wife and kid are of the upmost importance. Therefore I'll pick the safer method(whichever that is).

@tolu it was the second.

The first was a painless labour because I had an epidural even before the contractions started; although things went wrong at the end and I had to have an emergency CS.

thanks! that epidural is looking like a blessing!

My mother had 4 C-sections. I'm still baffled at how much my mum's body could endure after all that.

Anyway, to answer the OP's question, I'd say natural birth is always the best unless for medical reasons it isn't safe to proceed that way. Only then would I think of a C-section.

Nothing to b scared of my friend. God is always in control and is better to go to a specialist or a teaching hospital to avoid unnecessary tears and complications.most of d tears n unnecessary c-session are performed by inexperienced n impatient docs in private hosp.who are moneycentric

Re: C-section Versus Natural Childbirth by kcjazz(m): 9:07pm On Oct 31, 2010
You can never say which is best especially with the high mortality rates of mothers in Nigeria. I would prefer natural because it is cheaper for the rural poor. The c-section is easy but requires expertise and that is where we fail in terms of reducing mortality rates, for a developed country its okay but for a poor rural it is difficult, natural wins.

Ok, I'm throwing this question to everyone. Which process pains less after childbirth? grin
I hear after natural birth, many women just forget they were screaming a while after seeing their babies. Does the pain automatically just go away? cool

I'm just looking for the easiest, less painful one o. What about you?
God knows there wouldn't be a question of whether Stilly wants epidural or not. My answer would be YES o, automatically. cool I will even ask for overdose, hahaha grin

LMAO grin Some men would come here and call us lazy for choosing that less painful route, while they end up fainting in the labor room lol.
Like I said earlier, I'll go thru the natural route WITH epidural, no compromising on the epidural.

Re: C-section Versus Natural Childbirth by Busybody2(f): 3:29am On Nov 01, 2010
Like Abujabooks said (in the link below on page 2), be careful what you wish for whilst pregnant as you will get it. The mind is the battlefield, it is where all decisions are trashed out. Despite going through an uneventful 36 hours labour the first time round with no pain relief whatsoever, i allowed stress hormone to overwhelm me the second time round(labour just about 6 hours) and decided right from the start that i was going to have an epidural, and unfortunately i did embarassed

Bleudy NHS, i nearly had my baby in the toilet despite having been admitted over 10 hours before the baby came. There was no bed and my water had broke and they did not want me to go home for risk of infection, hence had to shuttle between the corridor and the postnatal ward where they eventually got a bed for me till it was time to be wheeled to the antenatal suite to push out the baby angry angry angry

Contraction pain is like a bad period pain that makes one feel delirious like you are on another planet.

Re women screaming, they don't have to but do it out of fear of the unknown, hence reason Midwives always get pissed off with screamers and tell them to shush it and breath deeply instead. High levels of oxytocin, adrenaline and nonadrenaline and endorphins when you breath deeply are increased and this helps with fear and tension. And high level of prolactin heps forget the pain, hence the reason one should always listen to the Midwives. Whilst swimming, if you take a deep breath, your body will naturally float to the surface and with childbirth, same things happens, the more you breath deeply, the easier it is for the baby to ease itself gently down the birth canal.

Again aside from when a woman has to be cut open, tears mainly occur when the words of the midwife is not being heeded. When they say stop pushing, listen, and listen real good, otherwise you will tear yourself badly. And if is is a 4th degree tear, you might have to soak a towel and sit on it anytime you want to do a wee and this can last till 6 months shocked
