improved economy? In what sense?? A telecom driven industry where data is super expensive in a third World country is a yardstick for them to tie their findings!

Since you don't want to hear anything positive about "our dear native land", you can render yourself dumb and blind, because such news will keep coming as the country matches on.

What a clownish way to draw your conclusions! These illiterates and money gobblers took Nigeria into a recession! The indices are there for everyone to see! Please read and be guided.

Check your facts very well and find out which government took Nigeria to recession. Because it's certainly not buhari's government. In case you don't know, google Soludo's 2014 Nigerian economic outlook post 2015. Where he said that whoever that will win 2015 election will find it so difficult to govern that he would likely resign.

Also tell me whose regime Okonja Iweala was serving when she announced that Nigeria had technically gone into recession. To the extent that 27 States could no longer pay salaries, while federal government was borrowing to pay salaries. This was when our crude oil was selling at about 130 dollars per barrel.

The same buhari that you hate, came and stimulated the economy by given budget support and pari funds refund to the States. Not to talk of numerous infrastructural projects going on in the entire country. Interestingly, this was when our crude oil was selling at about 45 dollars per barrel.

Nigerian equities race higher after central bank policy shift

Nigeria’s stock exchange has begun the year as the world’s best performer, powered by local investors switching into equities after the central bank shut them out of a short-term debt market.

The Nigerian Stock Exchange All-Share Index is up more than 9 per cent this week, putting it top of the table among more than 90 markets tracked by Bloomberg. Last year, it ranked in the bottom three because of a sluggish domestic economy that is yet to fully recover from a recession brought on by the 2014 oil price crash.

Whereas the naysayers are saying that buhari and his economic team are illiterates. As for me, if buhari's rise and what he has been doing in the country since he took over is how illiterates govern, then God may you continue to give us such illiterates in our country. That's what we need.
But folks like u dismissed such reports and news stating that Naija in an economic puddle/mess? You did not believe IMF then?

1. Only politicians, psychofans and those getting free cash from the present government will applaud this news
2. Most people are struggling bitterly to survive. So when you tell them "the economy is getting better", they look at reality around them to cross-check!

I truly understand the difficulties and the challenges they face in their states because of poor, lazy and incompetent leadership and why they must leave their states for better life and opportunities in other states, but why hate and bad mouth everything just because you are saddled with bad leadership induced difficulties?

Nigeria, China, and India made the top 10 list of governments that have done the most in the past year to improve the ease of doing business in their countries, the World Bank said on Wednesday.

Despite the bitter trade war, in which the United States is demanding reforms from Beijing to protect intellectual property and open its economy further to American businesses, China made the top 10 list for the second year in a row.

With those improvements, China leapfrogged France to take the 31st spot in the “ease of doing business” ranking, moving up 15 places, according to the World Bank report.

And despite US complaints, the report credited China with improving protections for minority investors, strengthening procedures for enforcing contracts and making trade easier with changes to customs administration and port infrastructure.

“Removing barriers facing entrepreneurs generates better jobs, more tax revenues and higher incomes, all of which are necessary to reduce poverty and raise living standards,” World Bank Group President David Malpass said in a statement.

Nigeria is also ranked 131 on the list after moving up by 15 places from its 2019 spot.

“Nigeria conducted reforms impacting six indicators, including making the enforcement of contracts easier, which placed the 200-million-person economy among the world’s top improvers.

“Only two Sub-Saharan African economies rank in the top 50 on the ease of doing business rankings while most of the bottom 20 economies in the global rankings are from the region,” WorldBank said in a statement.

If we have a dullard as president, must we all follow him in his illiteracy and incompetence?
How does ease of doing business equal the entire economy
The man ruling ruining and leading looting our country since 2015 confessed that he has wrecked the country and made us world capital of extreme poverty hence giving us another fake promise of lifting people out of poverty. What a conundrum of ironies.

Economy still in bad shape, Buhari tells 36 governors
December 15, 2018

However, speaking with State House correspondents soon after the meeting with Buhari ended, the Chairman of the NGF and Governor of Zamfara State, Mr Abdulazeez Yari, disclosed that the President complained to them that the economy was still in a bad shape.

He stated that Buhari urged Nigerians to still tighten their belts and prepare for tougher times ahead.

According to Yari, Buhari opened up to the governors during the 30-minute meeting, telling them that “the economy is in a bad shape and that we have to come together, think and rethink on the way forward.”

Pressed further to speak on the details of the discussions with the President, Yari declined, but stated, ”(The President) talked to us in a manner that we have a task ahead of us; we should tighten our belts and see how we can put the Nigerian economy in the right direction.”

Most improved here means Nigeria moved up from 146 to 131 despite billions of dollars borrowed last year.

Nigeria can do better than this. By now Nigeria is supposed to have broken into at least top 100 most improved economy in the world.

Abi, which parent go happy say im pikin carry 131 for class after spending huge money on him?

This is a rank on the ease of doing business like elimination of multiple taxes, company filling, application for licence etc. This has nothing to do with improved economic ranking.
