This man does not sound like a killer. In fact, he looks like he was drugged. How can you kill a woman and stay in the same room for three days with the dead body? Something is wrong. And from what he is saying in Igbo, he was actually the one that called the police when he managed to wake up after three days!

Something must be wrong somewhere. I call for thorough investigation into this.
How come his phone suddenly went off for 3days

It is highly unlikely that he is telling the truth.
The scene looks like there was a violent struggle which is often seen in crimes of passion. The fact that he didnt cover up, clean up or dispose of the body could be because he did not predmediate the crime and didnt have a plan for what to do afterwards, so he stayed on hoping and planning towards an opportunity to get rid of it.

There have been cases of people staying in the same place as their victims for this reason. Some even go as far as having people over just to make it seem that everything is fine.

This is also possible.

If he's claiming to be sedated, then a toxicology test should be done to check the transparency of his claims, But them I've never heard of a sedative that potent to last for 3 days. Secondly the excuse of his phone been off is stupid because his wife phone was on and could be used to place a call.

Please free the man joor. Police should do the needful to accertain whether the deceased has an ex who is still not happy with her marriage or someone she disappointed. It just an easy job for Nigerian Police to figure out.

Seems like his car was stolen. Cos the inlaw said he came by the house and called his sister she wasn't picking and tried calling his inlaw but the phone was off. He also said he checked the compound, his inlaw car was no where to be found. I feel it could have been stolen. That will vindicate him and if forensic investigation proves that he was indeed sedated!

Yes, the car might serve that purpose.

But I don't trust the Nigerian police to do a thorough job.

Something about the death does not ring properly!
As many people have noticed, why was he with the dead body for three days?

As usual, our stupid Police are not asking the right questions.
I was even surprised that a man who understands English and was about answering each question when asked in Enlgish (before the translation kicks-in), is being interviewd in Ibo language, as if he doesnot understand a word of English! I hope Police have not started their funny-funny jokes?

- Police met him in the room, what he met sleeping?
- Why did he not leave the room in the past three days, even if his phone was dead, to call neighbours?
- How did he know that "some men" killed his wife? Did he see them killing her? How many men were they? What were they after, from her?
- Why did they not kill him? When did they lieave the house? Was the wife dead before they left? What did they use in killing her?
- At which spot on his body, was he injected? Did they take anything from the house?
-When was the last time he saw his wife alive? Who was the last person to see his wife alive? When did he wake up from his sleep? Did he wake by himself or something/someone woke him?

All these and many more question will easily expose holes in his story, if he is lying because some of the question were designed to expose contradictionsin his story.

BTW, l find it shocking that the Face of the Man was dislayed like this!
What if he turned out to be innocent, should he not sue the brother inlaw who is currently maligning his name and tagging him a murderer?
Even the face of "alledged Armed Robbers" are not displayed, Kidnappers and bandits are not displayed, why dislay the face of the 'alledged" killer, when investigation is still ongoing?
Also, what is the connection with the TWO MONTHS PREGNANCY?
How did the brother of the deceased know that she was TWO MONTHS pregnant?
As a married person with a few children down the years, l know that even the person with preganancy hardly know they ar etwo months pregnant, except for ofcourse they miss their monthly period! Even the husbands of a two month pregnant woman hardly knows except the wife tells him, so how did this brother in-law know she was two months (Yes, two months!) pregnant?
The other theory is that was there an issue of infidelity involved and was the brother a part of the story, for him to be "so aware" of this early" prgenancy?
What else does this her brother know, about this murder? (I know he is the one thta made this nairaland Post).
In a murder case, everyone is a suspect and we have had cases of the Killer sympathising and crying even more than the dead body itself! undecided grin
I will also investigate him and the husband, check their phone records, movements, alibi, etc, in the last few days before and after she went cold.

RIP to the dead woman.

Possible!
Also possible is that this might corroborate his claim of being sedated!
If he was asleep, he wouldn't hear the phone of his wife ringing.
If he woke up (after three days) and found his phone was dead, he cant call with it.

These are just conjectures though.
It is possible to check when last his phone was powered-up and who was the last person he spoke to.
Forensic analysis of the wife's phone can also reveal if she has been talking to another man (secret lover) and what role the brother who knew she was two months pregnant, played in what is unfolding.

For those abusing the man, you are very ignorant.

This clearly looks like a drug deal gone wrong punishment.

The suspect might have gotten involved in some (possibly) drug related deals. He did not kill his wife.

No need condemning the man yet. The police should find out the truth first. The man MIGHT be saying the truth cos I don't see what will make a man kill his wife and be with the corpse for three days
For those saying its ritual, the report said some marks of violence were on the deceased body. Ritual killings are not usually violent

Even with ritual killings, if the victim fights back they will have defensive wounds.

The guy’s story is not adding up....and I doubt if Nigeria Police will do much of any forensic investigation.

It is not clear if he is alleging that, the crime must have taken place within the three days that he was ‘asleep’ or if the supposed killers initiated his sleep before, during or after the act was committed?

Further, how did he know he slept for three days, if he didn’t have a prior knowledge of how long. The Police should interrogate him on how he came about the three days and when/how he first came to realized he had been sleeping for three days knowing fully well his phone must have been dead by now.

Lots of holes in his stories and his explanations are just too convince....he know more than he is letting out....if they tell him now that, they found his finger hand prints in the murder weapon, am sure he will state that, he must have accidentally ‘touched’ it in his dreams while sleeping for three days.

If the man is innocent he must have to prove it. If he claimed he was sedated, he could at least remember what happened before he was drugged.
The supposed criminals, are the armed robbers? If yes, didn't any neighbour hear them enter or was the operation exclusively for him?
And if no, who then are the criminals. Does he or his wife have any criminal history? Did he have a serious problem with someone? Did he or his wife step on a mighty toe?
He will answer a lot of questions cos as it is now, he's in a reaaaaaaal tough situation

The law does not assume he is guilty, until he can prove himself innocent!
rather, the reverse is the case, it is the DPP that has to prove that the man is guilty because Criminal Law assumes an accused is innocent, until proven guilty.

All the question syou asked, are left for the prosecution to unravel, not for the accused to prove or answer. grin grin
The law, is the law.

I understand what you said completely. The question is how did he know, it was three days? We already know, he woke up on the third day....normally, when we sleep and wake up and it’s day light outside, we subconsciously know that we woke up on the next day. We don’t go back to check to see how many days we were sleeping.

By asking him these questions and many others, depending on his responses, deceptions might start coming to the surface.

Everyone might be a suspect as you stated, but he is the prime suspect as he was the one currently known to have last seen her alive and his alibi of falling asleep for three, though plausible but on the surface needs more convincing.

I believe in Nigeria, the concept of ‘one is innocent until proven guilty’ mainly exist on the pages of books. If taken to court, no Judge will believe his story of ‘sleeping for three days’.
