I think it would have been better to sill up th hotel within the lockdown period, now that it has been demolished money has been wasted, also it would have been better if the owners are been made to pay fine and use the money to buy food and share to the needy.
Sealing up the hotel is not punishment because, the hotel should have been sealed by the owner in the first place. That's why the government made a fearful law that could really deter hoteliers.

But this guy was bold enough to Break that draconian law, and had his boys even beat up the task force that had visited before to warn them.

It's easier to govern a place like Lagos, than a state like Rivers!

If you check the horde of those condemning Wike, they are mostly outsiders. No prominent person from Rivers State has condemned him.

Some weeks back, prof Wole Soyinka assert that the president do not have the authority to order lockdown in the country without seeking permission from the National Assembly, some people went after him and later the president had to correct himself and sought the permission from the NA. Today in the same vein the state governor are arrogating. Such power to themselves because they had learnt from the act of authoritarian from the president. Most of the idiot supporting the action of these wokes are not better than any of the law breaker and a colossal evaluation of their rule in their respective domain should see nooks being hung on their neck but when that time comes they will be the first to run to the court for a sought after justice. Oh Nigeria what a jungle!

Obedience to rule of law should be from both sides - the citizens and the government. Thats how civilized society functions

Funny enough the hotel owners will not sue because they know that they broke the law and they'll just waste their money on court cases.
If the owners remain cool headed and don't allow political opposition to hijack them for propaganda, the Wike I know will compensate them codedly

Which Supreme Court?
Wike?

You must be new in this country o

You recall Peter Odili obtained a perpetual court injunction preventing the EFCC and security agencies from investigating him and his tenure as governor of Rivers State? The Judge that issued that injunction is in soup

http://saharareporters.com/2009/12/06/peter-odilis-perpetual-injunction-justice-buba-queried-njc

And the EFCC is about to investigate Odili.

https://www.ripplesnigeria.com/were-going-after-peter-odili-his-perpetual-injunction-overtaken-by-events-magu/

And my question to you, considering you probably hinged your argument on the fact that Wike's wife is a Judge, is simple:

Who is Wike without executive powers?

One thing I know is that Governor Nyesom Wike who boldly and personally supervised the demolition those hotels can't say he lacks the power to mobilise the police and soldiers to storm those hotels, seal them and arrest every human being in their premises: owner, manager, workers, pimps, oloshos and clients and shepherd them before a court with appropriate charges slammed against them as well as the hotels as entities.

I maintain that Gov. Wike has NO business demolishing those hotels. His action remains unnecessary, reckless and lawless.

The danger is that if Nigerian State Governors need only an Executive Order to act as judge, prosecutor, jury and penal enforcer and could demolish business buildings at will, then Nigeria is playing with fire because the business premises of many political opponents of state governors will be in crumbles across the country soon.

Oh yes, he does have every right to act in line with the laid down laws to protect and save lives.

Don't operate, they called it bluffs. You don't know these Rivers people stubborn ehn. They face the consequences that serves as a deterrence to others that you don't mess around with the law especially with a lawyer. As a senior lawyer, he won't do anything outside the ambits of the law. His most powerful asset is the law in which he specialises in and to compound matters, his wife is a judge! Then you have the audacity to break the law?

Neway, as sad as it may be, he has done anything wrong. Nigerians should stop sentimental talks and behave by complying with laid down rules. President misuse laws. Government don't follow the rule of law, governors abuse laws citizens ignores laws, how can Nigeria be well and prosper?

Gov. Wike is NOT a senior lawyer. He never ACTIVELY practised law before his early foray into politics courtesy of Peter Odili's political paternity.

Well spoken Mr Tony, Don't mind those who are busy thinking through their anus on this matter.
The owner of the hotel wants to risk the lives of Rivers people by spreading the disease and Rivers people are saying "NO " to it.
You can never please Nigerians, when Wike wanted to ease down the first lockdown, they said all manner of ill things against him saying he wanted the Virus to spread so he can get 10billion from the FG.
When Buhari was not investigating APC members, they were shouting that he is partisan, and somebody made a law and it consequences if not followed, then he acted accordingly not minding he is his party member, they are busy crucifying him.
I'm very sure if Nigerians were the Israelites, they would have all died because of disobedience , by disobeying and asking God why pass such instructions when he is God and has the power to kill without giving them instructions to stay indoors.
Honestly, Nigerians need someone like Wike and Idiahbons to change this country.

Hey!! No one is crying for sympathy or mercy for disobeying the law, but to let the constitutional law have its way, and charge if found guilty, and punished in accordance with the law codes. And demolition of building is NOT and will never be part of the punishment if proven guilty. What happened to sureties and fines, light jail terms, temporary suspension of operation of the company, license seizure, etc? Or is any of the confisticated buildings recovered from looters who broke the law and abused offices ever demolished? Let the hoteliers punished with the law codes, not governor who also disobeyed and trample upon the voice of the law. ABUSE OF POWER IS DISOBEDIENCE TOO!

Where is the sense of comprehension in your epileptic and beer-palour counter arguments? Very poor critical objection withou the reason of the law!

But your comment does not imply he is versed in it. Don't be mistaken, he might not actively practiced law doesn't mean he hasn't administered it...

I know of someone who studied law just because he didn't want to be cheated by authorities. He is not interested in practising.

My dear emkz:

Hahahahahaha.....very funny.

And the EFCC is about to investigate Odili.
Since 2015? You should be an overly optimistic person if you think the EFCC will investigate Odili.

They have been saying this since 2015, Buhari has 3 more years grin

And my question to you, considering you probably hinged your argument on the fact that Wike's wife is a Judge, is simple:
Hahaha.....funny
My dear, Wike's wife is too junior a Judge with the retinue of Judges he is 'close' with. I will stop there.

Who is Wike without executive powers?
Hahahaha......Who is Fashola without executive powers?
Go & ask about the houses he brought down in Lagos and where the cases have ended.

You recall Peter Odili obtained a perpetual court injunction preventing the EFCC and security agencies from investigating him and his tenure as governor of Rivers State? The Judge that issued that injunction is in soup
He has been queried by the NJC, since Dec 2009 when Odili's wife was still at the Court of Appeal?....Can you tell me the outcome?

My bro....Please use the political section often....you will understand.

You seem not to understand a few things I can't spell out here or perhaps you live abroad.

My humble advice to the man
Don't trade words with Wike. Let him enjoy himself, then use back-channels and appeal heavily to him.

So that he can meet you halfway, at least till he leaves there.

Total E&P that were praising him that day were not mad. They were only doing what was necessary.

I believe those defending or supporting wike are benefiting from him one way or the other, because anybody in his or her right senses know that what the governor did is wrong. If indeed the hotel owners beat up the taskforce, there are better ways to deal with them rather than demolishing the hotel. My problem with rivers state is that everything is politicized.

"Salvation"

To all those people doin' lines,
Don't do it, don't do it.
Inject your soul with liberty,
It's free, it's free.

To all the kids with heroin eyes,
Don't do it, don't do it.
Because it's not not what it seems,
No no it's not not what it seems.

Salvation, salvation, salvation is free.
Salvation, salvation, salvation is free.

Ah, ah, ah, ah

To all the parents with sleepless nights,
Sleepless nights.
Tie your kids home to their beds,
Clean their heads.

To all the kids with heroin eyes,
Don't do it, don't do it.
Because it's not not what it seems,

If we keep pampering law breakers in this country
