Listen to me. I'm a lawyer. There is no law in Nigeria that says people below 18 (children) cannot date. The law is not concerned with your romantic relationship regardless of age. The only thing that matters is sex/sexual interaction.

Now, according to the criminal code, the age of consent for sex (in the south) is 16 years. Mark this. It means that no matter how endowed beautiful or 'ripe' a girl is, once she is below sixteen, she cannot agree to have sex. Having sex with a girl below sixteen amounts to rape. ( There's nothing like "she allowed me".

Back to your case, the girl is 17. If you're in the south, you cannot marry her. But can you date? Legally yes! Can you have sex? Legally yes!

But is it moral? I do not know! I don't consider dating a 17 year old to be egregious but I'll advice you take it slowly with her. Don't demand for sex no matter how tempting it is. Instead be her teacher. Educate her. Be patient. No matter how things turn out, she will respect you in the end.
