Pornodude:

NOW ALLOW ME TO EDUCATE YOU ALL.

I AM PRESENTLY USING ZOOMMOBILE INTERNET MODEM (CURITEL PC CARD). AND I ASSURE YOU THAT IT IS THE FASTEST IN NIGERIA AND THE CHEAPEST.

1. IT COMES WITH FLEXIBLE RECHARGE PLANS LIKE PER HOUR PLAN, PER MONTH PLAN, PER 2WEEKLY PLAN, ETC. IT COMES WITH ADJUSTIBLE SPEEDS (YOU CAN ADJUST YOUR BROWSING SPEED FROM THE VALUES OF 128KBPS TO 1MB PER SECOND). ALSO YOU DO NOT BUY THE NUMBER OF KILOBYTES OR MEGABYTES(UNLIKE THOSE MTN THIEVES), SO THEREFORE YOU CAN DOWNLOAD ANYTHING AT ANYTIME WITH YOUR ADJUSTABLE SPEEDS.
(NOW THIS IS A SECRET THAT I WANT TO SHARE AND I HOPE YOU ALL UTILIZE THIS. EVERY MONTH, I BUY 5000NAIRA (6000MINS) PLAN FOR A WHOLE MONTH. I BROWSE, DOWNLOAD, AND DO ALL KINDS OF THINGS ON A DAILY BASIS. AND GUESS WHAT, AT THE END OF 30AYS, I STILL HAVE ABOUT 4000MINUTES LEFT; WHICH MEANS I HARDLY USE ABOUT 1000MINUTES PER MONTH. I DUNNO IF ITS A NETWORK ERROR BUT IM ENJOYING MYSELF. A FRIEND OF MINE WHO SUBSCRIBED SINCE NOVEMBER WITH 10000NAIRA (12000MINUTES FOR 3 MONTHS) IS STILL ENJOYING BROWSING TILL NOW). I HAVE INITIATED A LOT OF PEOPLE INTO THIS ZOOMMOBILE NETWORK AND THEY ARE TRULY HAPPY WITH ME). IF YOU ARE GOING TO BUY THE MODEM, MAKE SURE THAT YOU BUY PAY-AS-YOU-BROWSE PER MINUTE PACKAGE COS IT PAYS MORE.

ENJOY!!

ZOOMmobile PAY AS YOU BROWSE . bills pay minute . So you must use the browsing  minute before it expires.

Good thread.
Re: Which Is The Best Internet Connection In Nigeria? by wandyvirus(m): 2:42pm On Jan 28, 2011
This is a good thread and i am glad it made the front pages.I have been involved with broadband access in the last 11 years and i can say that i have become some sort of authority on the subject.
Like most people here have said the quality of service is dependent on a lot of factors and while you enjoy good service from a provider in some part of the same local govt area, some other person does not.
We will have to manage what we have now till something better comes up.I will get to the reasons why this is so shortly, before i do so however let me state that i have Starcomms,Swift,Cobranet,KKon,Zain,Etisalat,MTN,IPNX in my office as i type and i have tested a range of them across Lagos and will tell you that none is better than the other or rather the advantages are only slightly better than the other depending on the quality of coverage the operator has in that given area.
I have asked for Mobitel"s service(BTW my office is in Surulere) and they have been here to test the service. It won't be ready here in Surulere till March. They have coverage in Aguda up till Bode Thomas but not the Adeniran Ogunsanya end.
I agree with some post here that Swift Customer service is nothing to write home about. However Cobranet's customer service is the worst of it's kind. I was in their office to ask for a higher speed plan and to know how long it will take. The staff asked me to "go and use a cyber cafe now then call us when we are ready" what! I asked to speak to a superior officer and i was taken by an apologetic woman to the "oga" Lebanese so he asked 'is there any problem' in that characteristic accent. i responded that i wanted to change my plan, and then he turned to me right in the middle of my sentence and said "I no talking to to You, I talking to her".Otio! In Nigeria! I still tried to reason with him and he kept on insisting that he has nothing to discuss with me! teh apologetic woman was speechless but you could see that she was intimidated as she responded that there was no problem.I left and moved to another ISP.
Now why is it that we can't get good service in Nigeria? What is wrong with the ISP's even after the transatlantic cables have arrived?
There are several factors but i always like to group them into three and make them as simplistic as possible
1.Infrastructure
2.Economy
3.Technology
Infrastructure
Any nation with a sense of development will not have neglected it's wire-line communications network as we had in the case of nitel. If we still had twisted-copper-to-the-home we will be talking about ISPs riding on those wire's to provide first of all dial-up service(which actually was available in all over the country about 20 years ago) then progressively DSL or ADSL as the case may be may be this year we will be talking about Fiber-to-the-Home(FTTH) not as a novelty but as a next step in the evolution of broadband services.
Power is and remains another key infrastructural constraint for without electricity(which we call power in Nigeria) nothing works.Or how else will you power you CO or POP such that electrical pulses are sent to the right places along the lines and get to the subscriber? Or would an operator have to power each CO along the lines of his DSL or Fiber routes? How will the DSL Modems work without electricity? This perennial problem dealt a big blow to wire-line services  of any sort in Nigeria. These days worldwide Technology is shifting towards the wireless space and the IEEE and the other bodies Wi-Fi alliance,3GPP and the LTE working group has championed notable standards in the wireless networking field. We will look at these standards in technology.
I will take a break here and return to complete this. Please bear with me.

I and a couple of friends contributed doe to acquire Swift's wireless router. Its quite expensive - costs around #100,000 4 d shortest communicatn distance. We reside in V.I and also very close 2 their mast. Their usb modem cannot be compared 2 it.

To tell you the truth, the internet service providers in Nigeria are a big rip off. None of them offer the services they claim to provide. Though i use Visafone 3G Modem and quite enjoy their services cos they are the best in my area, i still think more has to be done to improve internet services in this country.

These Internet Service Providers here are just making money at our expense. Could you imagine that in South Africa, the same MTN that is making a hell lot of noise here about 3G in Nigeria where you cannot boast of download speeds of up 200KBps is offering speeds of 10-20MBps to their subscribers. They know that they can't try such shit over there but in Nigeria, the story is always different.

for those that are using data plan that has download limits, they should let the speed be whatever they like. Pls let us note that if the speed high, they will be the ones that gain from it i.e, if download is @ the rate of 1megabits per seconds, your 1,000 = 100mb will be gone in just 10 minutes. Therefore, if they still decides to give us download limit, let us leave them with their speed whatever else, we soon start complaining that our 7,000 = 3g will be gone in just less than an hour.

You dont need all these. I dont work for MTN and I have even stopped using MTN to make calls, but now I use MTNhynet for my internet connection. Before now I was using directonpc vsat (which was too slow) and too expensive. I am not saying MTNhynet is the best but I am surely enjoying it both for my business and personal use. I subscribed for a speed of 512kbps (7am-7pm), for just N11,250:00 per month. Location is Osogbo. I use it for a small cafe with 12 computers and the speed has been good, although they may do better. Why waste money on a vsat that would be slower than zain internet? I will recommend MTNhynet for now

I think you need to be enlightened more about Internet data transfer. Nobody is talking about download limits here. that i subscribed for an internet plan where my transfer rate is 1.0MBps and my total allocation is 100MB does not mean my internet subscription can end in ten minutes. That is not how it is calculated. If i subscribed for the above plan which i mentioned and download a file of 50mb, it means that i will be able to download that file within a minute or at most,  a minute and 15secs and will still have a remaining 50mb allocation or so left. If i choose not to download huge file and do my normal browsing at my own pace, it means webpages no matter how large will load a lot faster since we all know that no web page can be as large as 2MB.

Secondly, i don't know what you mean by 7,000 = 3g
