IN a dramatic turn of events, Senate
Leader, Teslim Kolawole Folarin
yesterday emerged winner in a re-run
primary election conducted in Oyo
Central Senatorial District
of Oyo State.
Reports from the primary has it that
Folarin defeated daughter of the
second Republic Attorney-General of
the Federation and Justice Minister,
Chief Richard Akinjide,
Oloye Jumoke Akinjide and three
others.
Folarin polled 1,327 to defeat his
closest rival and winners of the first
election held by a faction of the party
two weeks ago, Jumoke Akinjide, to
clinch the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial
Ticket of Oyo central District.
While Akinjide polled 556 votes, other
contestant like Gbenga Olaofe had 14
votes. 19 votes of the 1,916 accredited
delegates in the election were voided.
Former Military administrator of Lagos
state, General Raji Rasaki was said to
have boycotted the primaries which
reportedly held at Ladigbolu Grammar
school, Oyo.
However, results from the parallel
primary by another faction of the party
held at Durbar stadium, Oyo town
favoured Akinjide as she was said to
be leading by a wide
margin as at the time of filing this
report.
INEC members from Abuja who
observed the primaries which
produced Folarin as the flagbearer
were led by Prince Ibrahim Yakubu
(Chairman), Mr Olobo Onesmus Idu
(Secretary), Mr Nwachukwu E. Robert,
Dr kayode Ogunsalu and Joseph Duke
were part of the team.
Reacting to his victory, Senator Folarin
who described the primaries as
peaceful added that his victory at the
primaries was a pointer to his
acceptability by his
people.
While promising better qualitative
representation, Folarin urged his co-
contestants to join hands with him in
ensuring total victory for the Peoples
Democratic party
at the polls.

We dey look all the "do or die" drama and we dey laugh laughable that anyone thinks , under desperate Jonathan , that issues were going to end with anything other than a "win" for a man who 'delivered' massively for GEJ. Never mind that a probably murderous thug will continue to make laws for Nigeria. Is Gbenga Daniel still not getting away with legislative gangsterism in Ogun State courtesy of a president shamelessly desperate to retain power ? Naija we hail thee indeed .

it is not like ACN is any better.
all these consensus candidate thing is worse than even the crap primaries in PDP.
the internal democracy in ACN is a proof that ACN will likely be worse than PDP if they win the centre.

i heard it on radio O.Y.O. around 3:30pm that all the PDP leaders in 11 LG has nominated Jumoke Akinjide as Oyo central cadidate.

but am yet to believe it.
