Let's not get overly religious over things that require practical steps. That he's on NL doesn't mean he's not praying, they are not mutually exclusive. Some people perform better when they feel accountable. This is a proven strategy used by therapists. By sharing this here, he somehow gets himself to be accountable to anyone following his thread and the thought of reporting progress here and possibly getting encouraged would serve as a reward (somewhat countering the pleasure reward offered by masturbation). The action-reward cycle that leads to addiction is exactly what is employed to get rid of it.

well, it a good thing you want to stop it. but then, i must tell you it take a lot if willing action. you can go 6 months without masturbate, that doesn't mean the urge has done.. first you need to understand what make you do the act, it is when you are stressed, it is when you see sexual related thing, is it when you watch film/porn or when you are happy/sad?.. then stay far away from anything that will trigger the act..

Also, dont always carrying a thought that you want to stop masturbating, ordinarily, you will think you been mindful, but in real sense of mind. you are reminding you yourself of the act. mind don't abide by the rule "Do" or "Don't", all it understand is the act itself. so if you said "I dont want to masturbate again", the only thing/word your mind understand there is masturbate, because that's what is familiar with. so instead of putting on your on things you don't want to do, let it be on the things you want to do. (in this case, your hubby, friends and all that)

And the last things.

you can not be successful in act of stopping masturbating without finding a subtitude for it. in fact forget the epistle of do that, don't do this. when you have an alternative for act of masturbation, you are 90% cured already. most people may say, you should start working out, and anything they may say. But the direct alternative to masturbation you can think of is sex. because brother, you've known the feeling already and nature can not be cheat. when the tank in full, you will want to do something about it. and addictive of masturbate is far greater than to that of sex. so you can start by, depending on how frequently you masturbate before, that if i go certainly weeks without masturbating i will compensate myself with a sex to relieve myself of the urge of doing it in future.

I wonder why I haven't died from lack of sex or depression. Lack of sex does not kill or cause one to fall sick
