Well said... Senate and House of Representatives should be scrapped... They are the retirement home for politicians

Why will anyone with half a brain want to scrap the House of Reps or Senate?
That's not smart at all

If the north leads the so-called restructuring process to fit their grand design again, the rest of the country should object. What I have learnt from all that is going on is that the socalled north gets away with all sorts of evil , simply because the rest of the country is docile. The lopsided state and local government structures in place today were all whimsically designed by northern army officers to favour the north to the detriment of the southern part of the country especially the east. They have more states, more local governments, more allocations, more senators, more....., it's endless ! Now, they are fearful that after Buhari, with the trends of political events, a real restructuring might happen, and they want to quickly effect changes to guarantee nothern domination for another century. This is wrong! It's either everybody is treated equally going forward, or the whole country should expire..
Too much sense in your write ups.... Thumbs up bro!!

I guess you didn't even read the small piece. Of all the regions clamoring for restructuring, which of them have ever come up with a memorandum as to how they enviseage the new structures to be? They just keep shouting restructuring which to many simply means let the oil producers control their oil without looking at other key factors of what restructuring entails.
Instead of allowing hate to blind us, let us open up our minds so we can see good when and where it exists

There's no point beating about the bush tbh. The current system has failed, let's simply resort to the previous system of regionalism.

[s]Better. We should have about 5 regions.

Western region, Middle belt, Niger Delta, Eastern region and Core North[/s]

Why should the North East and North West be one region?
Kanuri won't allow the Fulanis to lead them.

Can someone explain this better for me where they said on-land mining ( like gold in the north) should be in the control of the federating units and off land mining ( could this one be oil in waters of Niger delta) should be in the control of government of the federation. If this is what I'm thinking, then they get to keep their major cake while the major cake on the other side becomes a national cake. Well , it's good to know that they are saying restructuring.

Excellent proposal from these patriotic Nigerians from the North. It should be obvious to any reasonable Nigerian that Nigeria cannot continue with this unitary system that the Fulanis are using to cheat the rest of Nigerians. If the country is not restructured, the country will definitely disintegrate. The only way to keep Nigeria together is restructuring.

Restructuring is the only option available if they really want this country to continue or they just dissolve the nation let every region go their own way.

I don't see how a country with different ethnical group is more favorable to a particular region and biase to the others

But there is poverty in the north?

You have come with this foolish question. Restructuring is not targeted to the East but the whole country. Does the SE states have 100% resource control? What about state police? Educational programs? Electoral umpire?

It doesn't address the recklessness of the herdsmen. As long as we remain in the same country the killings will continue. We will still have porrus birders in the North where any Nigerien and Chadian would not only have free access to southern Nigeria, but vote en mass during election

Theres no problem with this except that we Igbos are going to insist that all Igbo speaking people be put in the Eastern Region. This means that Igbanke in Edo state, Anioma in Delta state, Umuezeokoha in Benue state and Ikwerre, Ekpeye, Ahoada, Asa all Igbo speaking people in Rivers state be added to the present South East to make the Eastern Region.
Who told you ekpeye and ikwerre is igbo? I laugh. Have you heard the rumu-osi and others groups in ikwerre speak, you think they speak Igbo.

Restructuring should be a 6 region, 1 FCT structure. Parliamentary system with each region sending 60 reps each, while FCT sends 6. For a party to win, you must win 2/3 of sits in all 6 regions and in the FCT. So, you must win 244 seats in total to form a majority. I do support total resource control though, with 30% going back to maintain the center. Each region should have its own police force, with branches in every LGA (community policing). Good start from the north though, nice to see them open to restructuring finally.

Every region should be semi-autonomous.

You don't need to go to Abuja for building your roads.

One region can decide to build their road and toll it...keeping the roads in good shape...while the other region might decide not to toll their roads and have them in bad conditions. Its up to them and their people.

This is against the current situation where the minister in charge in Abuja decides which roads to build.

Full autonomy, Sir!
Let FG get their funds through taxation and oversight.
That's true federalism.
