Those 44 men didn’t have a black vice. If they tried, they wouldn’t win.
Making a black woman a running mate propelled Biden to Victory. If not, Trump would have won.

What are you even talking about?

All that black this and that being first time should have happened long ago if racism was not involved. Many backs were qualified but weren’t considered.

Just admit you’re a Republican!!
By the way, Harris is not the first minority VP. That would be Charles Curtis in 1929. A Republican who was indian-American. His race didn’t stop Herbert Hoover from winning the presidency even though the US was far more racially segregated at the time. So just a little trivia for you.

NOI faces a big hurdle to get the job not because of any tribal considerations ( all that is in your head). Her biggest problem is she was finance minister in what the Americans considered a corrupt regime that was shunned by the Obama regime of which Biden was VP. Biden is basically the second coming of Obama and Obama was not friendly towards the GEJ administration of which NOI was a key player.

She would be the DG of the WTO regardless.

She would be the DG of the WTO regardless.

Possibly, but I'm just saying, there is resistance towards her in America and not just from Trump. Thats the reason she got American citizenship in the hope it would help her cause. She's been entitled to American citizenship for 30 years why is it now she took it?

Plus democrats are not as favorably disposed to Nigeria as people think. As soon as Obama started to put America on the path to energy independence, they started to see Nigeria as irrelevant. No American president has visited Nigeria since America became energy independent, despite Obama visiting Africa twice. They don’t need our Oil anymore and all these “Nigerian” appointments are born and bred Americans......unlike NOI.

A word for Sister Ngozi......

It should be clear by now that its not about qualification because if that was the case you'll have gotten the job since last year.

Suddenly it's now a herculean task for the WTO to reach a consensus? Since last year? From one frivolous excuse to another meetings could no longer hold? What happened to virtual meetings?

You haven't got the job yet because "these are institutions of white power, created and governed by European tradition. They belong to Europeans."........Amos Wilson.

Come to Africa and establish an African economic think tank and media to serve African people. While you sit over there in America, Bloomberg and other white institutions are working to fill that, and over time, they'll penetrate deep into our governments and begin manipulating African economic reality.

Sorry, but there's no global economic masterplan you're building with white people. You're just like a catalyst used in the process of global white control but you're not the player. The players don't want you to head the WTO unless you get lucky. I wish you good luck.

This's for adults only.

She is not more qualified than the Korean woman.

How is she more qualified? What kind of thinking is this?

There is nothing wrong in supporting her because she is OUR NOMINEE but that does not mean we should lose sense of objectivity

Who are you to determine whether she is more qualified or not??

It is very annoying
Just imagine the victim outcry if she was the one that had been replaced.
A suitably qualified candidate was replaced and they are here talking nonsense
The guy would have lost out since.

Nigeria did not replace him because they like NOI, but because she has the international pedigree.

Someone that has beaten a korean in diplomacy at a land slide. A whole south korean?

She got the vote of the rest of the world and forced the US to a stalemate.

she is also seriously backed by the Chinese. Nigeria has no say in world matters oh. That's why if u follow up international press report about her, they always put her citizenship of US to really give her a strong support. Buhari got nothing to do
U're underestimate Nigeria because u set ur mind that way. Nigeria has a reputable image and command big respect in the eyes of the world. Nigeria nominated Adesina for AfDb and he got it despite big nations like US, Scotland and other African nations involved. PMB nominated Prof. Tijjani Bande as UN President General that Presided over 75th UN general assembly. UN secretary General, Antonio Guterez enquired about Amina Muhammad serving as his Secretary when she was Minister under PMB & he tip her to move and she is right there.
Ngozi was also nominated by Nigeria and got the backing of world leaders. Remember China has equal vote as other nations but US has right of refusal over any candidate. Ngozi got the backing of the whole EU and Africa so what do u want to tell me abt China backing her!

Whatever the case, I'm sure President Biden would not jeopardize the interest of USA on the altar of "first black woman to lead WTO".

" First black woman to lead WTO" would not help anybody but herself and her family.
Your post will not help anyone including yourself.

What has that got to do with this job ?
Is it a bank Job?

Being former MD of World Bank does not qualify her to Coach Real Madrid or to head the World Health Organiztion

Trade is not Banking

The Korean has been working in Trade for nearly 30 years and has been a Minister of Trade in her country
Trade has to do with international politics, negotiations and alliances not development banking or international banking
I see no basis for the claim that our candidate is "more qualified"

ultimately it is a political choice
So, you think Mrs Iweala can't do better.
But you are wrong.

Even more Nigerian than she is american and Trump knew it.

You don't expect the US to sell her as Nigerian when she is also american.

It is the same way you don't expect Nigeria to sell her as an american when she is Nigerian.

Everything is diplomacy and politics of interests.

The reality is it does not matter who heads the WTO because the post is not an executive one. It is largely ceremonial so the question of "doing better" does not arise . It is clear you have no clue what the WTO does or how it operates.

Mr man, you are hating.

The WTO needs someone that is respected on the world stage to balance the varying economic interests and bring parties to the table.

It is more of diplomacy.
Especially with the china-US wahala.
And if you are not known, how will you get the votes.?

NOI has led projects in many countries of the world and worked with many govts.

That kind of leverage and back-door is what the WTO needs.

That is the issue here .So spare us all that campaign bullshit

So how do you convince the US and china to shelve their narrow interests in the interests of the world if you don't have the pedigree?

Who will trust you when you are not an international expert in trade and diplomacy.?
How will you convince the US and china that you know what is good for the world.?

It requires pedigree, pedigree, pedigree.
Look at what the ethiopian head of WHO is going through trying to balance varying interests.
China does not respect him and the US sees him as incompetent, and it is affecting the global response.

An OMATA leader can never win it in the first place. If he did by mistake, he would fail woefully.

It will be delusional to believe that what has not been achieved since the WTO came into existence is suddenly going to be achieved overnight by the next DG whoever it might be
The organization is not based on sincerity but power.

China and the US will sort themselves out and the WTO will play little role in that

What we need to be asking is why there are no major African Starbucks, No African Chocolate companies , No African Oil Majors, No African multinationals and how to achieve that.
You talk about an OMATA leader failing worfully. The question of failure at the WTO does not arise.

What does "success" look like?
Which of the previous DGs has "succeeded". We need to define that s"success" first

Clearly you have no clue what the body does or does not do.

It exists primarily to serve US interests FIRST. So if it is not doing so it is already "failing"
