Gurus in the house Turks, EMMAACHILE, mainama et al. I need your help.
1. I have been experiencing wet litter for about 2 weeks now. please what can I do to prevent this? (deep litter). My birds (470) consume about 140 liters of water everyday.
2. They are 24 weeks currently and still giving me 44% production. Is this normal? as I started feeding them with 50kg Hybrid from 18 weeks.
Thanks! I appreciate your response.

Hybrid grower or chick mash or finisher or layer mash?
25 or 50kg?

When did you last give antibiotics?

Troubleshooting cause of wet liter
1. Too high protein
2. Diarrhea
3. Old expired feed
4. Presence of rats in the apartment
5. Reaction to drugs etc
6. Dirty liter/water
7. Cold weather

If giving drugs, advise to withdraw and see the effect. Check the above to see the one that applies to you.
For your own big scale, you may need a more professional advice.

From my little farm experience, giving est mix stops wet liter and also ginger/garlic grounded in water works very well.

House please what could be the cause of my broilers not growing as they used to, they had cocci when they were 2-3weeks, and I treated them with amprolium and embazyn forte, now they are 6 weeks but not growing as they suppose to, their legs are drying and shrinking. I've dewormed them too, don't know what to do again.

Too many combination of antibiotics retard your bird's growth. Work more on your Biosecurity/management and you won't have cause to turn your birds into drug lords.

. The birds are from CHI, so I don't think it's from the source and I feed them well too.

IMPORTANCE OF RECORD KEEPING IN POULTRY PRODUCTION:
record keeping in poultry operation is essential to monitor the performance and profitability of your business, and to enable forecasting, programming and cash to flow projections to be made. It also serves to provide an early warning of potential problems, and so is invaluable to all round good management. Efficient and profitable poultry operations are not guaranteed by good record keeping, but success is unlikely without them. Record keeping involves keeping, filing, maintaining, and categorizing inventory, financial and production information for your flock. This can be accomplished by hand recording or by using computer software.
records tell an owner or manager where the business /operation has been and the direction in which it is going. Records show the strength and weakness of the poultry operation.
Regardless of flock size, re cords should always be kept up to-date.
OBJECTIVES OF RECORD KEEPING
1) To detect and rectify faults in operation and management errors.
2) To calculate cost of production of meat and egg.
3) To determine profit and loss.
4) To compare production, returns and profit with those of ideal standards.
5) To remember debts and credits.
6) To plan banks repayment of loans and installments.
7) TO DETERMINE SALES PRICE OF EGG AND CHICKEN.
cool To determine hen housed average, monthly averages of egg production.
9) To know the history of Flo cks in respect of production, mortality, medication, vaccination, source of purchase, feed intake, etc.

TYPES OF POULTRY RECORDS :
1) Daily poultry record
2) Daily egg production record
3) Feed consumption record, 4) Financial record
5) Inventory record
6) Inconsumable record
7) Transit record
cool Monthly summary of receipts and expenditure
9) Feed account record
10) Drugs and vaccines record
11) Mortality and cull record
12) Chicks, growers and layers flock record
13 Yearly assessment book
14 Attendance and wages record.

THANK YOU.
Watch out for the "prospect and pitfall of poultry production" that all have be longing for.
But before that you will enjoy this following process in poultry production
*WAYS OF MAINTAINNING GOOD BIOSECURITY

Amo broilers i hope one of ur fefol go see dis.

RECENTLY UR BROILER CHICKS ARE BECOMING INCREASINGLY IRRITATING TO RAISE AS THEY REQUIRE MORE THAN 2.5 MONTHS to reach the usual size which i sell them. The annoying thing is that the food consumption DOES NOT REDUCE DURING THAT TIME INCREMENT. SO UR FREAKING REDUDING MY PROFIT magin. I have decided to switch to chi( the current hot dudes in town) and if the 200 birds reach their usual size in 7 weeks. I WILL DUMP AMO BROILERS FOR Good.

AND I AIN'T THE ONLY ONE HAVING DIS PROBLEM "ASK UR OTHER CUSTOMERS".

NO, IT AIN'T MY FEED, I GIVE "TOP FEED" FOR OVER 70% of thier growth phase.

stop supplying us with poor quality local broiler chicks, its very annoying & embarrassing telling my buyers to wait another months for my birds to grow. thier confidence in me will drop

Attention to everyone raising Broilers( small, medium and large scale farmers). I've been reading or hearing people lamenting on how poorly their birds were doing and i think this pieces of advise will help you guys maximize your profit irrespective of breed or farm you got your birds from.

Mash feeds are nonsense, if you really want to make a good profit in broilers, use Crumbles and pellets feeds. the worst crumble/pellet feed give better result than suppose nutrient filled mash feeds.

The reason is simple:

1. Unlike mash, each cubic of crumble or pellet contain the whole nutrients.

2. Birds eat more when giving crumbles or pellet than mash.

3. There is no room for partial eaten, unlike mash that some will be eating only maize or other will be eating soya or dust etc, crumble/pellet allow them to benefit 100% from every content in the feed.

In addition, use commercial made feed only. Give anticocci every 10 days untill 5 days to culling. Give them enough feed and clean water. Immuned them against CRD before 21 days. Multivitamin is very important, it aid their eating habbit.

For more info, consultancy service, start up requirements, or advises on Broiler, send mail to adebisiyemmit@gmail.com.
