OP, Are these places open for Business? even with this Covid regimeee

Yes they are open and are in phase 3, these pics were from my visit to New Orleans 2 weeks ago.

Most activities and dining were socially distanced, and we made reservations to many place. I actually speak about this in my COVID travel tips video here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqaASf_Azvo

I highly recommend making reservations for tours and dining for anyone that is comfortable traveling right now.

I hope this helps!

We walked everywhere, or used Uber for far locations, I didn’t rent a car. Parking in downtown New Orleans is a no for me. Lodging centrally made it easy to get around on foot to most places.
Thanks

Hello Nairalanders!

This post might be helpful for Nigerians living in diaspora or looking to vacation in the USA.

Let's me first say, I absolutely love "NOLA" as we here in the states fondly refer to New Orleans - it's literally a melting and such a fun city. The city simply does not sleep, and pretty much anything goes!

I recently visiting New Orleans, Louisiana on a “foodie tour” for 4 days. You might ask “what is a foodie tour”? It’s when you travel to a destination specifically to taste and sample local foods (and cocktails). Louisiana is a southern state and their cooking techniques clearly were passed down from our ancestors in Western Africa and France.

By way of history, Louisiana purchased African slaves and was part of the slave trade. We had the opportunity to visit the Whitney Plantation Museum. The Whitney Plantation Museum is the only museum in Louisiana with an exclusive focus on the lives of enslaved people. Many of its decedents can be linked back to Western Africa – a few we traced back to Nigeria, specifically Igbo and Yoruba tribes, although I’m sure there were other tribes.

I like to share this experience with you because many to travel to the USA yet bypass the southern states which you may have lineage through. It’s definitely eye opening (and painful) to see some of the conditions your ancestors had to live in and endure. However it’s our history and part of who we are.

We also visited the National WWII Museum which was quite interesting and educational as well.

This thread is making me feel nostalgic.

I remember my trip to NOLA in January 2019. Nice place to visit.

No to above because I waited too late to make reservations. Because of Covid most places require reservations far in advance. But next time, it’s on my list minus the graveyard tour, that’s not my thing.

Right! Even in the whiteman's world, black people are indispensable and valuable as much as we need them. We black people are intellectuals, blessed and excellent. The best they can do is to preserve the memories and let love lead. Whatever happened back then was the trend in the world back then. Humanity has moved on. Love should come first. No race is superior, nothing like pro-blacks, white supremacy, it's all against humanity. The world should come together as one.
He who leads into captivity shall go into captivity, he who kills with the sword shall be killed with the sword. This is the patience and faith of the saints.

This is from the scriptures, your forgiving them and talking about love like a typical African is not going to change prophecy from being fulfilled.

What will you tell Russians, Poles, Norwegians, etc who are whites and didn't take part in slavery. Even in America where slavery happened, Northern states in America were slave-free areas. In other words, white people in North America weren't allowed to own slaves. In fact, white people in Northern America waged a war against their countrymen in the South to end slavery there.
So much concern for the white folks but let me correct you....

There was slavery in New Jersey, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Connecticut, all Northern States.

White people did not fight the Civil War to end slavery, they could careless about the slaves, the war was fought to prevent the South from leaving the Union. Ending slavery was a by-product of the war.

The North knew the only way to stop the South from leaving was to financially break them. Slavery made the Southerners rich, ending slavery would ruin them.

Even after the war was fought and the North won, only the Southern slaves were freed in 1863, those Northern slaves were freed later. Texas held on to their slaves until June 19 1865, "Black Americans Independence Day" but in reality slavery in the US still existed until the 1960s

I doubt tribe members sold their fellow tribesmen into slavery but Africans sold other Africans.

Are we saying different things ?

My point is you can't blame slavery on the whites alone. Blacks sold their kith to them
