The United States Air Force began a COIN programme and the Super Tucano was the winner, but these people who read comic books, play video games and depend on Hollywood movies know better than the US Air Force.

They want aircraft carriers, reaper drones, F16s, nuclear weapons and all that and they will pay for it with comic books. One of them is now talking about drones, not knowing that we already have Wing Loong drones.

These people know more than the pilots that are actually flying combat missions in the North East (would you believe it).

I just look at all of these as entertainment. I read their comments and laugh.

the funny thing here is that they even think they know more than the manufacturers of these aircrafts and why they have chosen to use different aircrafts for specific sorties.

They think that any plane can be used anywhere. I wonder then why we have supersonic jets, regular jet fighters, bombers, Attack aircraft, light attack aircraft and the likes of them.

Having the right tools for specific sorties win battles and not just throwing anything into the fray.

Based on easy maneuverability, quicker response, precision during close air support the Super Tucano is it for insurgency issues.

They want to use a Lockheed or a tomcat for an insugency issue forgetting the fact that war costs money

Sambisa forest covers an approximate Lange area of 520km squared.

A 1 megaton nuclear bomb creates a firestorm that can cover 100 square miles. A 20 megaton blast's firestorm can cover nearly 2500 square miles.

100 square miles is about half the size of Sambisa but since it is a flatland there would be no disruption to the ensuing firestorm that such would cause so expect the devastation to be well beyond the quoted figures.

We needed an aircraft which would carry out precision attacks and the Super Tucano comes with just that especially since it is equipped with laser guided missiles.

Laser translates to precision. Once there is Intel regarding their specific location, the aircraft makes the job easy without having need to have even one ground troop in the area. This way our troops would not be overworked

This is a bribe buy. I Know the Nigerian government are preparing for a conventional war,they earlier told us they bought JF-17 thunder to fight Boko haram. How can you use a super Sonic,multirole(majorly air superiority) fighter jets for counter insurgency?JF 17 is armed with more of air to air missiles. Do Boko Haram have fighter jets? What super tucano can do for us helicopter gunships and wing loong drone they purchased earlier can do better. At a time, the US government was not friendly with the Nigerian government,they decided to buy unneeded plane from them to be in the US good book. That is why they told us that no one died in Lekki.
