Fair enough... It's better for them to interchange every now and then to suit to the team and each individual. Playing Messi still on the false 9 position wouldn't be odd as it were, but let's face it, it will definitely hamper and lessen other forwards' impact. Ney thriving this season ain't just about adaptation, but also about the freedom to drift to the centre forward position when needed (as opposed to last season that he was always playing wide, plus Lucho prefers his forwards to play it narrowly and thereby allowing the fullbacks to occupy the flanks). On the flip side, saying Messi shouldn't be used in that position at all might not end up well.

Besides, our formation now is a bit different from other years. Though same 4-3-3, but with a variant on the front 3. That is, 4-3-1-2, with Messi playing behind them front two. The other forwards (or players) just need to time his movements and runs to not run into eachother when he decides to take on players himself.
