For instance, Indians people worshiped gay and transgender Gods. They became homophobic because of colonialism too, but now they are more accepting and have unlearnt that hate. There are stories of lesbians society in Chinese history. There are even ancient pictures of Chinese men having gay sex. Even meso America has arts depicting gay sex. My mom is a doctor and she told me how she saw many intersex babies in Nigeria, but because of ignorance doctors force a gender on them.
