The soldiers were provoked not just by the killing but by the accusation of the CP that the soldier was escorting contrabands. This is how the police try to justify the extra judicial killing of innocent people just to cover their brutality. This time the bit more than they could chew |

phreakabit: Easy logic if we have any leaders with a fcking brain cell in their heads. The government will be sending people on public transport around each city. Anywhere they see any policeman taking money, they will send in an arrest team after the undercover federal agent has passed. For every team of officers caught doing that: - The second time, the Corporal/Sergeant/whatever in charge of that team will be dismissed effectively the next day. - The third case in the area and the area DPO will be dismissed effectively the next day. - The fifth case in the state and the State CP will be demoted effectively the next day. Then see how quickly it will stop. |

PUNCH METRO gathered that around 9am, two of the policemen attached to Gateway City Development Centre, left their duty post to mount an illegal checkpoint near the bus stop. I hope the police dpo can see. We only get to hear a distorted story. Other source said the soldier struggled with the police. Anyway, the Army has denied responsibillity. I hope police men would learn to stop extorting money and mounting illegal checkpoints. Most times police are at fault. But what is wrong with the police force? Are they under a curse? |

Why cant they get rid of the useless DPO in Pedro. He's about the worst I know. His boys go around with impunity terrorizing poor okada rider and they made one throw me into the gutter last month . You see roadblocks about every corner. GEJ should issue another ultimatum quickly so the IG and the MOD can check their boys respectively |

the police caused this. we all know that soldiers do escort jobs. why did the police insist on checking the vehicle the soldier was escorting? maybe it is pay day for the police and some police men had to receive the pay. Sad though. |

the blue print reforms of mr. president should me extended to these lawless soldier, in American alone govt. security agencies numbering 52 are in existance, roles and responsibilities are well defined, need for role clashes are avaoided. the millitary in there corriculum the millitary are thought more of conflict resolution, this in absencial in our millitary training , they instead train them on brutuality a kind of of RUSSIAN type of millitary training that absulate in modern millitary. wit all purpose d millitary perpetrated this evil , however to serve as deterant top millitary officers in charge of the barrack should be seriously sanctioned, possible dismisal for lack of proper supervion of their surbodinate, this we go a long way to control the unlawful and undemocratic attitude of the junior ones, and all name tag should enforced to be sowed on the uniform of every soldier just like the police, more so this we be a lesson to the trigger happy policemen too |

Sagamite Easy logic if we have any leaders with a fcking brain cell in their heads. @Sagamite They have such undercover inspectors within the police system but our system is Rotten that Inertia on every level of our society is the norm. Infact, they are running a racket and a good Hustle. There has been numerous directives and executive orders against police, customs, immigration, forestry inspectors, area boys etc check points but they are blatantly ignored. Corruption at the highest level feeds fat on the back of the corruption of the foot soldiers and police men menacingly on our roads. Nigerians are supposedly smart but problem solving solutions are not our forte because of deliberate ignorance, inertia and bad choice. I admire your optimism and support your solutions but our people are lazy and not about solutions but "chop and quench" . |

Easy logic if we have any leaders with a fcking brain cell in their heads. Your Idea my friends is quite plausible, however I laughed while reading through. Its obvious you don't know how this thing operates. Each and every one of them has a higher authority to whom they answer / deliver too, its kinda like a food chain. The level of corruption in the Nigerian police force surpasses that in any organization in the country, the senate inclusive . The roots of the Nigerian police force is cemented on corruption. |

Re: Bloodbath In Lagos: Soldiers Kill Police Dpo, Dco 8 Others by cheikh: 8:40pm On May 26, 2011 |
Sagamite When something is stubborn, you have to use brutal force to annihilate it. @Sagamite ^^ You are actually advocating a coup d'Etat . The head is Rotten so the rest of the body follows . In a country where nothing meaningful is manufactured, the President acquires four(4) presidential jets in less than twenty four months in power, what does that say to the rest of the followers? Our priorities are misplaced. Profligacy and inherent tendency to live beyond our means informs our actions usually negative. It's almost like a national culture. A thorough transformation of all our institutions (A-Z) is needed. Backwardness is very costly but unfortunately in our domain it has become naturalised and seemingly normal. It's shameful and disabling. It manifests itself in general indiscipline and tolerance for all manner bad behaviour by so called 'gatekeepers' or 'moral guardians' even the religious zealots amongst us are part of the social decay/problem. |

Sagamite: Most DPO's have their s pecial squad with an estimated amount that must be returned to Oga daily. You don't meet up, you get posted. Oga at the headquarters is having a wedding reception for his daughter and you see a small police station dropping Prado jeep as gift, where do you think the money comes from. dplordx: It's a good improvement. They used to drive Danfo buses about wearing mufties hailing "Palmgrove. . . palmgrove, " like conductors. They pick up unsuspecting passengers from Famous, Kadupe and Johnson bus stops and drive them straight into their station-hand them over and disappear. It's nothing but kidnapping. Shout all you can, you wont get released until you pay for accommodation and their hospitality. By the way, I heard they now have an ATM machine erected by the exit of the main gate- that way your bail will be readily on stand-by. |

The Nigerian military are way too unfit 2 live in a democratic environment. I dare suggest dat their training should include courses like modern democratic principles & practise, the military in a democratic dispension, inter-service conflict e.t.c. The bad belle wey pple get against d police nor make dem empathise/sympathise with them. This is no excuse though. |

Good for them. Those men in black are morally unstable. They discharge their bullets on the masses because of #20. They kill like armed rubbers. Those that needs to be protecting and guiding the masses are just behaving like kids. The masses is guiding them nurturing them with whatever they want. They are like cults. They angered so easily that the next point of action is shooting civillians. Who started this war? No be them ? Then no go die well for hell. God forsaken pigs. |

Just wish both groups can kill themselves to extinction. They are no good to this country. I rather be in the 'safe' hands of Boko haram than the Nigerian police. Hell, Nigerian police has killed more victims than the Boko's. If it was a civilian that was killed, chances are that we wouldn't know about it. It happens daily. The army probably belong to the same category, and treat civilians like filth when they get the chance. Please, kill urselfs, we might be better off. |

Those useless soldiers,oh I see, just because the policemen were unarmed and unprepared, they decided to ambush and murder them so callously,it's when it comes to unarmed people the useless and unprofessional soldiers of the Nigerian army tend to brutes and depraved animals in uniform and it's only then they know they can shoot. I still remember a few months ago when som badt guys easily killed FOUR WELL-ARMED SOLDIERS in Lagos, the soldiers couldn't even get any of the robbers,I wonder the sort of reprisal action their colleagues from the barracks took against the robbers(since they know how to retaliate),bunch of untrained cowards, unprofessionally brute animals in uniform Refer: Robbers kill four soldiers in Lagos http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/02/robbers-kill-four-soldiers-in-lagos/ |

jmaine: Based on your past comments on this politics section, people can actually see which side you belong, either the side of the most or the side of the few. Like i said before, i repeat again, most Nigerians are useless anyway, if not, how come few wicked fools who have no clue about leadership are ruling and oppressing you people? to make matter worst, the same useless Nigerians went ahead and put them there again (if you people aren't foolish, how come you voted for GEJ and not PDP as if GEJ is different from PDP) foolish = useless, EOD!!! |

honeric01: Did the embolden make sense to you " wise man" . . in your wise aura, don't you feel taking a stand on an issue or discussion whether being in the minority or majority is not a big deal or you simply have nothing to say ? . .Just wondering when it became an issue, cos you could make up that grouping as well which is normal for any living human being to always find itself on either side of the divide dependent on ideologies and conviction. . honeric01: So who was the right person . .your crying general and leader Buhari . . you have no choice than to accept the fact that Buhari is history, you also have to accept the fact that he lost and the current president in GEJ won . . .you look like someone who would be going for regular Blood pressure check ups just because you miscalculated the potential of your pet project Buhari to be acceptable, considering his antecedents which was well proven to everyone to see what a blood thirsty monster he, his party , and his followers are . . . In order to avoid bringing your GEJ sourness to this thread . .i will excuse you to continue in your self poisoning act as no one can really help you from self destructing one day . . . your bitterness in every thread you visit is just bizarre |

jmaine: Why would it make sense to you if kara was different from beans in your eyes? I employ you, save your strength for the future, you have alot of defending to do, this is just the beginning, the few who saw GEJ for who he is already knew what to expect, but you can continue in your folly. baslone: blame this on sentiments, poor educational system and tribalism. Without beans, there can't be an akara, without PDP, there wouldn't have been GEJ in the first place. these same people that claimed they didn't vote for PDP but GEJ actually thumb-printed on a PDP logo. |
