Who Will Succeed Nigeria As Giant Of Africa? by newbornmacho(m): 2:34pm On Sep 19, 2021
Just wondering

If Nigeria balkanizes, which country could take over as the most powerful black nation on earth?

Note that south Africa is not really a country built by blacks and for blacks and their negritude is in doubt.

Could Ethiopia?

Could any of the breakaway republics from Nigeria succeed in doing this?

Could biafra?

Could the yoruba nation team up with their kin in Benin and Togo to create a mega yoruba nation?

I'm thinking of cultural dominance, music and the arts, scientific advancement, economy , military.

Or will the black world have no more giants but become an inconsequential bloc of the world?

As to the question...

Okay...

Egypt and South Africa are roughly at the same pedestal as Nigeria, but South Africa would give Egypt a run for their money if in your word, Nigeria Balkanizes.

If Nigeria's balkanization owes to fragmentation through secession, and in consequence begets an Igbo nation, I doubt if South Africa would lift its head when this nation stands to speak after some thirty to fifty years. How these people singlehandedly rose like a phoenix after the Civil War has taken me to the drawing board a lot of times.

Except if enshrouded by the cloud of sentiments, it is clear to all that the country would likely become the industrial revolutionist of the Dark Continent.

So what Botswana, Namibia and Rwanda can achieve, black South Africans can't just because there are whites in the country? You're trying too hard to mask your failures as a country.

Your whites left SA bankrupt when they lost power in 1994 to the tune of $50 billion, and in just 15 years the black government had quadrupled the size of the economy (see attachment from none other than CNN). So what do u mean very little can be attributed to blacks in SA?

Do u all even know anything about South Africa or do u just know that there are whites over there and begin worshipping them?

They built for you the foundation for any growth you would achieve. They remain in large numbers in your science and tech spheres driving innovation.

So 100 years from now you'll still be talking of the white foundation and denying blacks their glory? We're 3 decades in now. When will be your cutoff date?

Are u even aware that white foundation you're mentioning was limited to just 20% of the country? That's what apartheid was. Look at what the black government (ANC) has achieved for 100% of the population. Do u ever talk about that in Nigeria or just blindly white worship? Can Nigeria after 60 years compare to any of the points below achieved by black South Africans in less than 27 years?

Nigeria has achieved what it has without whites. There's something particularly black about being Nigerian. You can't say that about SA

If you take away white South Africans from the country, the country may just be worse than Sudan. The senseless xenophobic protests and massive loots give us a clear picture of what the country would have become without the Whites. However, this thread is not about South Africa.

To the question, I think the the Igbos and Yorubas are awesomely creative and enterprising people. The competition for African greatness lies within either of the two major groups. Being in Nigeria with laws and people who don't value innovation takes those two backwards.

I stopped reading after your first line that I've highlighted. What a ridiculous statement. A country endowed with gold, diamonds and platinum, and the richest tribe in Africa (the Royal Bafokeng) would have been a Sudan? You're ridiculous.

U mean the whites who didn't care about blacks until we fought apartheid and did these things for ourselves - expanding electricity access, healthcare, no more inferior Bantu education but quality one, increasing life expectancy by 10 years, building 3 million free houses (far more than the levels Nigeria has achieved in 60 years)? Your collective arguement as Nigerians against black South Africans is a toxic mixture of ignorance and deep seated jealousy.

There's no being compromised here. No one questions the identity of the UAE or Qatar as powerful ARAB countries and people, despite the huge western workforce they imported to make their countries what they are today. So white influence in a South Africa that is 80% black should also not disqualify SA as a black nation.

There are policies in place to reduce that and so far 30% has been transferred to black hands with processes to double that in the next 2 decades. 350 years of colonisation won't be fixed in 27 years.

This 30% is the more than the Ethiopian GDP u said you should the next Giant of africa grin Try denying it.

The DRC's problems are intractable because of international interest and involvement in their mineral wealth.

But why are u people so adamant that a fully black SA in full control of its resources would have been a disaster? Or is it that u cant think? U need to check yourselves - you're very bitter and biased people.

All that is hypothetical, and would there even have been a thing called South Africa without white colonisation or will it have been just different smaller nations? Shaka for example was on a ruthless expansion drive across Southern Africa and had a formidable army that the English respect to this day. The richest tribe in all of Africa is the Royal Bafokeng, a Tswana group in the north west of South Africa living off platinum mining in their area. All that are signs of greatness.

So u people need to check your jealousy and the quest to be number 1 at everything and pulling other people down. You're really pathetic sometimes.

It won't be like that forever, not even the next 50 years. The country is committed to transformation targets and so far 30% of the economy is in black hands (larger than the GDPs of Ethiopia or Kenya). And these are facts and not wishful thinking in Nigeria for the downfall of black South Africans.

U didn't mention the most important factors of a superpower - infrastructure and military prowess grin. U gonna tell us about an oil-based economy of largely poor people who can't even manufacture pencils undecided? Half of Africa has far superior living standards and per capita income than Nigeria - and that's a fact coz you're migrating to their countries instead of them migrating to Nigeria (the so-called Giant of Africa).

BTW, South Africa's entertainment industry is almost 2.5 times richer than Nigeria's - and that's also a fact cool, despite not having witchcraft Nollywood or autotuned afrobeats.
