The hymen isn't an impenetrable wall. Hymens don't really block the entrance to the vagina, they're sort of like flaps -- like the poster who sent the pics above -- and have holes. Blood passes through. All women have to menstruate so it would be strange if virginity stopped them from it when puberty begins around 13.

If your hymen has no holes, then it is imperforate and you will need surgery in order to have sex or a period.
