HAHAHAHAHA. Dude, maybe packet tracer, but am talking full blown cisco ios images here. Try GNS3 on a netbook with just 3 routers running ospf and let me see how fast the netbook will be.

I support what you said here.... I have attempted to run a couple of IOS's on a netbook but it wasn't fun at all .... Even at 2 IOS's you'll be bitting your fingers.

Hehehehe. . .I talk am sey I must to enter new year with Windows 8 so make una helep me say "hi" to my new baby tongue grin

I installed Windows 8 Pro last nite, played around with it until I got the hang of it, then I removed it this morning and did a clean install of Windows 8 Enterprise. (I always like using the OS with the most features.)

Activated it to a full version using a KMS activator although it'd expire in 6 months time (June-23-2013) but I can always re-activate it and hopefully by that time, there'll be a permanent Windows 8 activator.

Also installed MS Office 2013 and I'm loving it. So far, so good. . .I dey feel this Windows 8 die. kiss

Still installing most of my softwares as I type.. . . . .

SimonAndal, howfar?

Awesome! Finally installed Alps Touchpad driver with windows 8 support and got it to work. I now have access to a host of Windows 8-specific touch gestures. Eg, I swipe from the outside right of my touchpad inwards with a finger to pull up the Charms bar, swipe inwards from the outside left to switch apps, swipe inwards a bit diagonally from the outside top left to dock apps or close apps, swipe downwards from the top of the touchpad to bring up contextual menus, pinch to zoom, double finger tap to minimise all apps and switch to desktop, and lots more!

As for Office 2013, will download it when I get back to school in January, as I've exhausted my data bundle and don't want to spend money buying another. Better I do it with the school network.

Downloaded Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows parts 1 & 2 last night, plus all of Coldplay's and One Republic's studio albums.

Downloaded PES 2013 and some apps from Windows Store.

Boosted my speaker volume.

Watched porn.

What else?

No aero in windows 8.

Update your graphics drivers plus move to google chrome...

What I cant understand though is why you would install enterprise instead of professional lipsrsealed

Do not forget to upgrade you BIOS(Basic Input/Output System) to the latest one, by downloading it from your computer maker official website. Before doing the upgrade remove every external devices, close all works(webpages, folders, applications, etc), make sure your system is removed from hibernation state and connect it to the main power source.

It will really help in alleviating some disturbing issues in your Windows 8 Operating System.

It's not a must, though. I didn't upgrade mine and my system's running splendidly.

Firstly, IE10 (Metro version) is brilliant! Far better than Chrome and Firefox. That's what I've been using since I upgraded. (Although for some season it doesn't want to open GTB's ibanking platform. )

And no, Windows 8 doesn't offer Aero. What it does is make your taskbar (only the taskbar) a bit transparent. (Notice I said transparent and not translucent. 7 had translucency with Aero). It also changes the colour of the taskbar to match the background image currently in use on the desktop. Pretty cool, eh?

It wasn't about the graphics driver as I had updated to the latest version. Also, the other browsers are working flawlessly.

Anyway, I fixed the choppy & slow browsing with Mozilla Firefox by installing the latest Mozilla Firefox and deactivating the use hardware acceleration option in the browser and it's been smooth sailing since then.

BTW, Windows 8 offers an aero theme called aero lite. It's just hidden and has to be enabled. I've done mine already but I'm not feeling it like the Aero theme on Windows 7.

I haven't used IE since the days of vista but with what SimonAndal posted up there, I'll give it a try. I'll be tweaking, re-tweaking & un-tweaking this system for the next few days to get maximum performance.

Isn't Enterprise the most advanced of the Windows 8 OS or did Wikipedia get it wrong in their Comparison chart? Why I go chop chicken when turkey dey? grin

Funnily enough, it was Pro I first installed but I removed it and installed Enterprise after just a day. Anyway, I downloaded ISOs of both of 'em so I can always revert back to Pro if I want.

Me no get time for time, I fit just wake up tomorrow and revert back to XP sef lol grin

Re: Windows 8: The Thread by moonraker(m): 3:05am On Jan 02, 2013
The reason I suggested you use Pro instead of enterprise is becos of the very thing you crave, Permanent activation for free!!!

The enterprise edition cannot be permanent activated for the sole reason that the license has to be renewed every 180 days.

Where else, if by some miracle (and they usually happen) able to find a MAK key or some activator that can activate Windows 8,

The pro will be your best bet!!!

And No Pro semi, there is no way in hell that HP would release a bios update. HP is at a confused state right now becos most

of their laptops especially the ENVY Line (which I own) don't have native windows 8 drivers yet...

Hmmm, be like sey I don enter one chance undecided

Assuming I wanna use Windows 8 Pro, can I do an upgrade installation over my Windows 8 Enterprise and keep all my installed apps, settings and files cos frankly I don't cherish the thought of a clean installation as it'd be too much work.

The bold line is enough reason. And, this usually happens mostly of 64bit.Check your system time and date if it is correct. It will expire by January 15 of 2013. Why just not upgrade and get this over with?!

System folder is usually empty apart from System32. What are you expecting to be in your Sys folders anyway?

Re: Windows 8: The Thread by semid4lyfe(m): 8:26pm On Jan 10, 2013
OPEYEMI AD: 1. Can someone provide the link to KMS activator for me

The offline KMS activator I used initially activates Windows 8 for 6 months but you can run it again and again to re-activate your windows whenever it expires. . .but maybe before it expires, DAZ or some other genius would have come up with a permanent activator smiley Still want it?

OPEYEMI AD: 2. Which antirous is compatible for window 8 pro 32bit

Most 2013 antivures are compatibe with Windows 8. . .so it's your choice which you want to use.

OPEYEMI AD: 3. I miss d start button, I don't like where it wasm any application to restore it into d normal position? If yes kindly provide the link.
That's for now

The start menu button of the older Operating Systems is gone forever but there are lots of 3rd party applications/softwares that one can download and install that would give a start menu button with the functionality of the innate windows start menu button.

Most of these start-menu softwares are fully customizable and even give you the option of skipping the metro screen UI & booting to your desktop directly, deactivating metro 8 hot corners, deactivating sidebar etc Some are freeware while others have to be purchased but if you sabi road u go find your way. . . .u know na wink

Some of these start menu softwares are: Start8, Windows 8 Start Button, Pokki Start menu, Free Windows 8 Start Menu, Power8, Revel BringBack, StartMenu8, Start Menu X, ViStart, Win8 Start Button etc.

I use StartMenu8 (a freeware) and this is what my start menu looks like. . .
