A 21-year-old unemployed youth, Esther Josiah, suspected to have been jilted by her lover has committed suicide in Ondo State.

Crime Gist gathered that Josiah was found dead in her room at Oba-Ile town near Akure on Saturday.

Our correspondent learnt that Josiah, who came to Akure about two years ago from Abbi village in Delta State, met a young man whose identity was yet to be to be known as at press time, and fell in love with him.

It was learnt that their love turned sour when Josiah started suspecting that her lover-boy was cheating her.

Some of her neighbours, who spoke with our correspondent on conditions of anonymity, explained that Josiah caught her boyfriend with another lady sometime last week and had since been behaving funny.

Tragedy, however struck on Saturday when the neighbours discovered that Josiah did not come out of her room on time. After banging the door several times and there was no response, the neighbours forced the door open and met her corpse.

Josiah left a suicide note and some drugs suspected to have been swallowed on her bed.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Aremu Adeniran, confirmed the incident, to our correspondent on Sunday.

He explained that the suicide note left behind by Josiah indicated that she was jilted by her lover.

Adeniran explained that her corpse had been deposited at the mortuary and that investigation was ongoing in the matter

Sources said the girl had been dating the boy for over two years.

They said she often complained about his infidelity, which had been giving her sleepless nights in recent times.

Her neighbours said she started behaving funny last week, after she caught him with another girl.
